- After escaping the deep snow pack of the Eastern Sierra last week, I headed south and ended up spending 24 hours alone, truck camping in the desert.

Learning to de-program myself from "constant dissatisfaction" with everything I have needing to be changed, "dialed in", modified, fixed up, "updated", latest tech, improved etc etc etc has freed up an generous amount of time, energy, and money to become a human being vs a human doing...
Wow what a beautiful trip!!! I live in Florida and I have never been in a desert before! My wife and I are to old to go hiking like you!!! But it would be wounderful to just drive around out there in the middle of nowhere for a day!!!! It's on my bucket list!!!

I like your style of videography and conversion. A nice relaxing channel to watch. I have a pop to camper, it is nice to get to more remote spots but it really is a huge pita. You have a nice setup, i'd stick with that. It is really nice to just go into the back of a camper at will. Don't ignore signs of heat stress, especially if you are used to hiking in the heat, because you will press yourself harder than people who aren't used to it. Once it hits you hard it will be extremely hard to get back to camp.

I stumbled across your YT channel a few days ago and have been slowly catching up. In your 21 May video, you asked if anyone knew what kind of animal made the tracks in the sand. I didn't see any answers in the comments so I thought I would help, even though you probably know by now. They appear to be the tracks of the Desert Fring-Toed Lizard. That track or foot print looks to be a Desert Millipede or Sonoran Desert Millipede if you are in that desert. That a tasty to desert rodents and reptiles.
We say when it’s windy in the uk “It’s blowing a hooley” you can use that next time, it’s free. Happy adventures to you

The dunes are really stunning! They reminded me of the dunes in the Outer Banks, NC, but Mohave Dunes are much steeper, perhaps? I noticed the little, purple flowers growing up through those rocks and thought how lovely they are in such a desolate appearing place. It's all so very beautiful and it was fun to come along with you. Thanks for the adventure, Alex! 🙃

The southwest holds many treasures. Coming from the east coast, I had a narrow view of the desert. Now that I've seen it, WOW! Bonus: The flora this time of year is such a delight. Tiny pops of color all around.

Such a great video, but may I suggest you wear a small pack with some extra water and big cat deterrent, just in case? anything can happen in those conditions. Really enjoy the photography in your videos as well! Stay safe!

My dog has to hike over a lot of rocks and stones. They sell a special cream for their paws. Works great.

So happy you are wearing a cap as the Sun really damages our sin, I hope you are wearing sun tan lotion 50+ as your shoulders are exposed also protect your beautiful face which looks sunburnt (sound like a nagging friend sorry 🤭) Incredible terrain & love your vitality for adventure! Do you have a small doggo hiking bottle to take with you? I used to have one that could clip on my belt or bag when I had my dog. He loved it!
Thank you so much! She is my #1 priority out here, so our days revolve around her schedule and safety, and I am grateful I can do it all! I do have a bottle for her, but she really doesnt love it, sadly. I always bring it on longer walks though, or cut our trips short to stay on top of her hydration when not.

Glad you're leaving the desert. It creeps me out with the extreme heat and you possibly having any issues with the truck camper or being stranded alone out there. (my problem, not yours) 😂

Maybe you have one already but in case you don't, have you thought about an emergency GPS like Garmin inReach Mini so if you God forbid break a leg in the middle of nowhere or fall you can get help and they can find you.
yes! safety is super important to think about - I use a ZOLEO GPS device on my adventures for this reason :)

You’re a very healthy looking young Lass and I’m confident in your abilities but I ain’t gonna lie 😂 I sure was feeling a bit nervy about you being that far in the middle of the desert on your own 🥴 you’re braver than me girl 😁
Might want to look into some survival/truck saving training. Tell whomever you find that your a you tube creator. Something else, Get Tara a 20 foot lead you can attach to your truck, Dogs are more rugged then you think, and I understand you wanting to baby her but give the lead a try, she'll find shade even if it's under your truck. Trust your dog, they have senses you don't.
She has a 30ft lead that she’s on when I’m not watching her! Gives her the freedom to explore while giving me peace of mind :)
Your worried about blocking a road? How many vehicles have you past or crossed out there on the path? I am thinking 0. So I would be worried about that if I got stuck…You are on your own, I would get recovery gear and a wench before I would go down roads like that. Be careful, things can turn bad quickly if your not prepared!
If something happens to restrict you from getting back to the camper for any unforeseen reason there needs to be a plan because the dog can die in the heat in the camper. Really not a good idea to leave her alone and go off alone.
