The 3DS also delivers a console experience, just only with sixth generation console (GC, PS2, Xbox) graphics. I don't mind the graphics though, since sixth gen was a great era of gaming. Not to mention the 3DS line up is really good so far
sonicadx Cartoony graphics outlast "modern" by far. In 10 years you'll want to puke at the Vita's attempt to look "realistic" but just like the old Pokemon games from 10 years ago, you'll look at Nintendo games and whilst it will be much worse graphics, it won't look cheesy/bad.
it all depends on what games you like if you like games like Cod, Uncharted, Assassins creed or other violent games, get the psvita if you like games like Mario, Zelda and Pokemon get the 3ds. to me i think both are amazing handhelds.
You just spelled it out. The 3DS is a great handheld, awesome device, and I want one, but it will NEVER get past the barrier Nintendo systems always face. Pokemon.. Zelda.. Mario... Nintendo developed or produced games. There are too few good third party games for the 3DS. There are certain games like Scribblenauts, Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, but those are only purchased by a specific audience. Ask a DS owner about their games and they will be an assortment of Nintendo licensed games. Thats whats holding me back, that there wont be enough core games because half the library are frickin gimmicks. Disney movie games and a whole load of garbage.
Hank Taylor There are quite some pretty good core games on 3ds like SMT (IV, Soul Hackers, DS: Overclocked), Etrian Odyssey (IV, Millenium Girl), KH: DDD, Tales of the Abyss and quite a bit more. Also I would never underestimate nintendo's games. The 3DS isn't good for "dude-bro" games like CoD, Sports games, and all the other shit thats pumped out by greedy companies. Still I'm excited to get a vita for Persona 4: Golden, Gravity Rush and a few others, but I'm not really that into indie games, and quite a few of the vitas games seem to be ports of console games.
Why I will go with the 3DS XL: -I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 and a gaming PC so I can play modern games -The price -Did I mention I have a PSP? -Those old games like Mario, Pokémon etc avalible for the 3DS XL remind me of my childhood and I LOVE that -I SOOOOOOOOO want to play Pokémon -I SOOOOOOOOO want to play Mario -I SOOOOOOOOO want to play Legend of Zelda -I don't need social apps as I have a smartphone and a tablet -I never had a Nintendo -I already have 2 Sony products -3D... YEAAAAAAAH -SD card price -Games are more expensive on PSVITA than on 3DS XL -1 screen... 2 screens... GIMMIE 2 CUZ 2 is better than 1!!!!!! Sry for grammar mistakes and English Peace
I feel you bro.. I'm 32 years old I got ps4 and recently bought a wii u but I just found out from a friend that 3DS have a lot of zelda games that I like to play when I was a kid.
Johnny Tran I'm 11 and as far as old games go, I played Mario and other not-so-known-old-videogames. I hate how some people say PS VITA is better JUST because It has better specs. Its the games and type of games you can play. BTW 200$ for a 3DS XL, Pokemon Y and an accesories thing set is kinda expensive for me... And I KNOW I said I have a bunch of consoles and a gaming PC but still I haven't got all of these in a few days, yknow?
Same here... 32 years old and i've got to say that titles like: Monster Hunter, Resident Evil or Metal Gear (on one hand of great graphics side) and Mario 3D Land, Luigi's Mansion 2, Donkey Kong 3D or Mario Kart (on the other hand) made my decision. And guess what?... nobody speaks about the rpg's where Nintendo is a launch/sales monster!!
@@rayzas4885 if the memory cards were cheaper more people would buy vitas so Sony would have more first party and third party developers would support it more.
3ds has far greater selection of Japanese RPGs and anime. Vita has a crossover of console games integrated to handheld. Analyst actually stated that the VIta failed because they made it too good, too good as in it matches a console, when a handheld should be a handheld
Great comparison video! I happen to own a Vita and I'm really enjoying the variety and quality of games on it. In fact, many of my favourite games are available on that console: "Virtue's Last Reward" and "Persona 4: Golden", especially. There are also some amazing smaller games, like "SoundShapes" and "Thomas Was Alone", available for the Vita. You can also buy lots of PS3P games for the Vita as well, if you purchase them electronically.
I owned a PS Vita because the graphics looked awesome and thought the PS3 compatibility looked cool but I ended up barely touching it. It had a couple cool games that I played (Killzone & Resistance) but I ended up selling it in the end because all it did was collect dust. I just bought a 3DS XL the other day and so glad that I did. The only game I played on it so far was Super Mario 3D Land and it's amazing. I'm getting Kid Icarus and Mario Kart 7 tomorrow and both look sick. And this is coming from someone that owns products from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft so my opinions unbiased, no fan boy here lol :)
SKiiDlikeaSLOPE I am glad you are as happy with your 3ds,as I am with vita which I use as much as I did home consoles(daily). and fits my gaming preferences perfectly.
Im a sony fanboy, i started with ps1 and now i have ps3. I will get the ps4 in the future when there is more games and when it gets cheaper. I haven't played my old psp for a long time, and i have been looking forward to ps vita. But i decided to get 3ds xl just because of the games like pokemon and fire emblem. In my childhood i played tons of pokemon on gameboy colour and GBA. I still have this kid inside me that won't let me grow up. Nintendo have tons of mario games, the only ones i like is the Mario kart games. Personally i find it worth to getting 3ds xl just to play pokemon and fire emblem games. Because when it comes to those games, the graphics don't matter to me :)
Dude I'm 32 years old and I just found out today that the 3DS have a lot of zelda games. The games that I love to play when i was a kid, so I'm getting the 3DS soon I gotta find where I can get it for the best deal.
I personally find them equal. The Vita is so much more advanced, but it's lacking in games, and advertisements for those games. The only Vita games I enjoy are P4 Golden, which is a remake, and Ys: Memories of Celceta. Conception 2 is coming out for it, but it's also coming out for 3DS. Tbe 3DS isn't nearly as capable in terms of functions but it makes up for that with enjoyable games: Want a list? Fire Emblem Awakening, SSB4, Persona Q, KH3D, LoZ: Link Between Worlds, SMT 4, Bravely Default, Devil Survivor 2: Break Record, Pokemon X/Y, Monster Hunter 4, Conception 2(3DS version), Tales of the Abyss (remake)... Need I go on? anyway, it's all up to what you prefer.
I think the Ps vita itself is a cool console, but it needs a bigger variety of games, there's some really great RPG's coming out this year but it needs more than that if it wants to sell well.
I agree the psvita is a great system it just needs more games like the new Dead Island that is coming out for example would be great game to include on the psvita and they can do it because look at what they did with Killzone mercenaries!!
Well since the 3DS XL is 4.8in, it's only fair to be the one compared to the Vita. I have the white Vita (Like Marc). I love it. Would love to get a 3DS XL though. Both are very nice.
This review was awesome! I really liked how you pointed out positive and negative things about both consoles. Aslo the conclusion was perfect! I liked how you where subjective and I think you are very right that the consoles have their unique qualities, and that it depends on what type of games you like and that none of them are better then the other, it just depends on the person using it. Keep it up, and I`m running ahead to sub to you ;)
Ps vita is way better than 3ds xl. Now that Sony releases ps4, you can play hardcore games from your ps4 to your ps vita on the go. That is very cool. I'm really excited for the upcoming games of ps vita this 2014. And also ps vita has faster Internet, I guess more fast than iPhone 5s
I already have a smart phone for social media things. I'm leaning more towards the 3ds, mainly because I'm looking for the more classic arcadey type games. Been stuck playing the normal shooting driving sport games. I need a change
it's basically between if you want games or not. if you want a decent game library get the 3ds. if you want nothing but a few games to chose from go with the vita.
Bilbo Baggins Both have quite a few games to select from but the selection is different for each just like home consoles..........Vita has more of my shooters and hack n slash than 3ds does
Guys, stop. I think we can all agree the physical HARDWARE of the PSVita is superior to that of the 3DS XL. That doesn't mean everyone likes the games on the PSVita better as well. Games are an entire experience, and what a gamer chooses to experience is their own goddamn business.
It doesn't matter if a handheld has best, top notch graphics, it's how the game feels, not looks. Sure you probably would want decent graphics, but that's not what makes a decent game. And that's why I think nintendo's got it right.
PhantomFilms in that case I need your help. monster hunter 4 ultimate will be released next year and only on the 3ds. Thing is I really really wanna play the new mh bcoz I've loved that game and it finally has online features. But I just feel like the other nintendo games like Zelda or Mario things like that suit me bcoz if the cartoony graphics. Any thoughts?
i was a huge psp fan then i got into the dsi when they made the vita (i had to get it) i had it for a year now but then i got the 3ds (xl) i as amazed by everything so what kind of gamer am i. Team Nintendo - Broski
Honestly both have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to the library. For Strategy Games, RPGs, and Puzzle games I prefer my 3DS. When it comes to Action, Racing Games, or Sports games the Vita edges it out. Between the two I play more of my 3DS than my Vita, but once Gaikai launches its streaming service for the PS4 (which I also own, the Remote Play is lackluster right now), I'll likely shift over the other direction.
I know the psvita has more high-tech games and features, but for almost $300 I don't think it's worth it. I already have a normal non touch psp, nintendo gameboy SP, iPod, and PS3. all of those vita features are already available for me to use. I'd rather get a 3DS XL Pokemon XY edition, and that's just what I'm gonna do. Plus the 3ds has more variety of games :)
Its standard price is $200 wtf but if u add in a 16 or a 32gb ur looking preety close to 250-280 serniously 4gband8gb arent big enough even psplus games download all of that and ur 8gb is worthless i have a 4gb lol
You're pretty stupid then. Especially because most games are NOT mostly remasters or "ports". There are a FEW but they only account for less that 4% of all vita games. Stupid YOU!
***** i didnt know i could pull that little pointer thing out lol my 3ds is full of fingerprints and stuff and i pulled that out and it was like brand new lol
santaclaws365 I would say go for it but you should first look at what games are actually on the DS/3DS so you know you will actually use it. If there's only 1 or 2 games that you want, then it's a waste of money unless you are going to play them 4-5 times... Like Tavin, I own a lot of gaming stuff (DS lite, 3DS XL, PS3, PS Vita, PSP, Wii and Gaming PC. Some were presents, but most I bought with my own money) but I don't buy them unless there are a certain amount of games I really wanna get on them. Currently I have been on my 3DS XL and my PS Vita more.
AXJessy Thanks, I bought the Nintendo 3DS XL and bought Pokemon X right away. That's all the money I had. But I'm looking forward to buying Mario games especially mario kart and super mario, and Zelda. And I do play Pokemon X a lot. It's a really fun game. Thanks for the info..
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely keep an eye out for it :)

I bought myself a PS4 with BF4, Knack and Watch_Dogs lately. It's very nice, but i still miss the fun of gameplay i expired of Nintendo Games when i was young. Pokemon, Mario and Zelda give Nintendo something really unique in it's gameplays. Sony/Microsoft isn't able to create such games like these. So that's a good reason for me to buy a 2 or 3DS :D
The 3ds is much better. Being shown in the install base as well as their library. I'd consider a vita in a year or 2 when there is an actual worthwhile library and the storage isn't over a hundred bucks for a worthwhile size.
Morgorath30 how can you say that they are two completely different things the fact that they are even being compared together is proof that they fall under the same category .
Morgorath30 The 3DS can also be listed under "portable console", it literally has "virtual console" games you can buy and download right into the thing. Just because the Vita is more powerful, doesn't make the 3DS any less of a portable console in itself. That's like saying the Playstation 2 isn't a console anymore because the PS3 is more powerful when in fact, they are one in the same. There is no "sub genre" to attach any of this too. The GBA was a "portable console" as well being able to play SNES ported games on the go. At this point we're just talking about different generations of handhelds and consoles.
EnderGuy727 Not everybody has a PS4(I'm a PC gamer) and btw, there are others like the nvidia shield which are far more adept at that. Also, that has nothing to do with being a kid or adult console.
I've had a 3DS since 10 months after launch. I've upgraded to the 3DS XL and I adore it to pieces, but I honestly can't wait to get myself a PS Vita at the end of the year. The 3DS's library is huge, plus it has Nintendo's trademark titles. And the Vita is finally starting to build up it's library and it has a few stunning games that are unavailable on any other console. So, I say get both ;) (I have played the Vita before btw, it's nice)
I got my PS Vita 6 months ago. At first, I was worried after I got it because I did not think that there would be many games that would float my boat. However, there are so many games to play! I did not think I was much of an Indie or JRPG guy, but now I can't stop playing it. There are so many great games coming out, and I can't wait to play these great games on the go. A friend of mine just got a 3DS XL, and while I must admit it is fun to play, I just can't see any games I want to play beyond the big first party games. Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc are really the only games I would be interested in playing. For me, personally, the Vita can offer me so much more diversity. I don't regret my purchase at all, and I highly recommend people to get the Vita. Its simple: the more people that buy a Vita, the more developers will be inclined make games for it. So if you people ever want to play a GTA game or a decent COD game on the go, you have to buy the Vita! Support the developers! People who are on the fence about the Vita should make no hesitation in picking one up. They're usually on sale for 170 bucks, and thats peanuts compared to the 250 I paid for it. Even at the high price, I don't regret it at all.
A lot of hardcore gamers like me have a 3ds and a ps vita. The ps vita is the gay cousin to the psp. The 3ds xl is far superior than the ds and the ps vita

3-4 hours on 3ds? I get around 8 on mine.

Wel i don't use 3D that much but it's on max brightness almost always, and still gets way more..
I play with power saver on, it doesnt make a difference to performance but i can sure see a better battery life. Guys u all should try using power saver some time. Its in the same tab as the brightness settings
if you buy either the vita or the 3ds do you need a good internet connection to play video games like killzone mercenary or new super mario bros 2? I'm asking this because I don't have a very good internet connection. please answer back.
no you don't need internet at all to play the games offline but if you want online features you might want internet decent enough to not lag and not have any issues...
there is no which one is better. I think we all know witch one is better. PS VITA!!!!!!! DAHHHHHH. Can you skype on the 3d s no you cant. but the vita can. Can you go on netflix on the 3ds nooooooo. ps vita all the way.
does the 3ds have a rear touch pad noooooo. can the 3ds go on skype nooooo. does the vita have better graphics yessssssssssssss. But the 3ds does have 2 screen. to small screens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dahhhh no question vita is better. So shutup.
me i care about skype its usefull for 200 dollars dumbass that little 3ds reminds me of that 2004 flip phone that i used to have dude u suck the ps vita is better ps vita for life
I know PSVita has better graphics and audio. And I think it has quicker internet browser than 3DS XL. But these doesn't make PSVita better. I want a game console to play with it, not to log in Facebook. I have my computer for this. And the most of PSVita games suck. They are full of war and violence. There is a huge library for 3DS with much better games than PSVita's. And those who think 3DS Games are for babies have low IQ!
Just because you're not interested in the vita games that does not mean they suck just not your style and you can say the same when it comes to violent games on the 3ds.
Wait...the Vita sucks...because it has violence and war meaning mature themes? So the 3DS doesn't have that? Wasn't Fire Emblem a war strategy but just sugarcoated with anime style? Didn't RE Revelations come out on the 3DS? MGS3D was also about war and violence too. Saying that the Vita sucks because it has a more mature theme is a stupid reason, no, that's a really dumb reason. Then you go on to say people saying 3DS are baby games are stupid. So it has mature games? So why are you saying the Vita sucks by having violence and war? You do know that the Vita also has other good games than that right? Rayman Origins, Spelunky, P4Golden, Super Stardust, Gravity Rush are great Vita games are they not? You're not being a massive fanboy? The 3DS and the Vita are both great handhelds so stop being a one sided prick.
Yes! They are both great handhelds. But there are more violent games for PSVita, right? If someone wants to play violent games, he should get a PSVita! I got a 3DS so I can play Mario, Pokemon and Animal Crossing and a lot others...We don't have these for PSVita! And they're better! Sorry, but it's true!
Mickey Mervaras I only see the advantage of the 3DS as having more library of games, the other comparisons are merely little of value. If the Vita had the same library of games as the 3DS (mostly from Japanese studios because the 3DS' library boasts in that) we wouldn't be having this 3DS hubris. I can see a lot of games I would love to play that's on the 3DS, and I can see a lot of games I would like to play that's on the Vita. Violence genre has nothing to do with the Vita's failure, because both platforms have violent games. Assassin's Creed Liberation, Uncharted, Terraria, Guacameele, Hotline Miami, Dragon's Crown? Those are games for the Vita the 3DS doesn't have them and they're awesome. I can see the greatness in both handheld so maybe so should you, instead of trying to get an ego because one is doing better than the other and you picked the one doing better in markets.
I'm a Vita guy, and those remastered PS2 collections are awesome. This doesn't apply to everyone obviously, but I like having those PS2 games that I've loved my whole "gaming life," portable. Most people don't care about that though, so just buy what you want .
I have a 3DS XL But if you are argue with PSVita is the Master Race on potable systems, NVIDIA Shield is far away the superior, that argument is invalid.
I'm a Sony guy for living room consoles, but for handheld I have to give it to Nintendo. I enjoy their games lot more than Vita. Specs really don't matter when games are diverse and enjoyable.
If you are in a position whether you want to buy either or, there is no wrong decision here. They are both amazing consoles. I've owned a DS ever since they came out and I've decided to buy a vita and I love it. It provides a wonderful experience of games that anyone can enjoy. It has good multimedia usage and has some decent online features that the 3DS doesn't have. At the same time, the fact that you have to factory reset the vita to change whatever PSN account you wanna use is pretty ridiculous. I only got a 3DS recently, and I can't say I'm disappointed either. It feels natural to play and it and it provides some of the best games out right now for handheld. I like the system UI too. It's like a mini Wii that you bring with you. The only downside is that there isn't as much online compatibility and features like the vita has. But at the same time its free. And when it comes to hardware, I really don't mind the difference. Games like Kirby Triple Deluxe and Mario Kart 7 look beautiful on the 3DS even with weaker hardware. The LCD screen on the vita however is really bright and makes the color pop out. If you are stuck in a rut in which to buy, go with either one. Regardless your decision, you can't make a wrong choice here. They are both wonderful consoles that provide great gaming experiences for any player.
Both console are very different unlike for example PS3 and Xbox360...Now I have a Vita and really enjoying all the great games on it and can't wait for Toukiden, FF X, Minecraft and Demon Gaze to come out this year but surely the 3DS also has great games on it, the only deal breaker for me is that 3DS is region locked...I always import my games and get the US versions for my European PS Vita since they're cheaper than the European versions while 3DS sucks big time because of different releases of different versions (Bravely Default for example) and more expensive imported games.
Nice job! Thats realy what it boils down to, what kind of player you are. Im just waiting for ps vita to get a jump on new games espescially sonic the hedgehog
"What kind of gamer am I ?" A gamer. I own both 3DS XL and Vita, and love them both ( with a little preference for the 3DS XL, as Nintendo's mah childhood :D )
Demos: 3DS allows for 26 plays and since Etiran Odyssey has the level cap @10(12hrs of play for me, 15 left) there's no reason to continue playing. Very generous offer and most will know whether they are purchasing the game or not. WiFi only. Unless you have access to WiFi the applications (Skype/Twitter/Email) don't mean anything and at home I'll just use my cell phone. Games: As of this writing the Vita has 2 games. Persona 4 Golden and Memories of Celceta. That's about it for RPG's. Most of the other titles are console ports. 3DS games: Most I play are 30-60 hours of gameplay. Vita: $249.00 (cheaper now), $85.00 ($330), $90.00 for 2 games ($420). Nice job on the video. Very well done.
I think it's down to what kind of games you want to be playing. The 3DS XL has a bigger game library and focus a lot on casual games. The Vita focuses on hack and slash and more action titles. It tries to replicate a console feel with its two analog sticks. The 3DS XL is basically DS version 4.
I started off with a vita, and loved it. Until after a while, I got bashed for having enough times that I sold it and got a 3ds XL. I got pokemon, smash, Zelda, and mario. They are good games, but I got of them quite fast. Just thus week I decided to buy a vita 2000 and I love this thing. Moral of the story: dont buy what other people want, buy what YOU want.
I own both a 3ds and Vita and I gotta go with the 3ds. The fact being that alot of the Vita's "good" games are multiplats kind of makes it difficult to justify buying the vita when I could get the same game on my home console. Usually with better graphics, sound, controls and usually cheaper.
i am so excited for the release of righteous slaughter 8 for ps4, ps vita and xbox one next gen!! its gonna be such a unique and fun experience. nothing can match the thrill of point that reticle and pressing that one button every 10 seconds.
Honestly, both systems are really great. My brother got a vita when it came out and it looked amazing, I was highly impressed with everything about it. I've always been a nintendo guy though, so I got the 3ds XL and I love it!! If anyone is looking to buy a handheld system, you can't go wrong with either one, just choose which company you prefer.
Need help witch one 3ds or ps vita actually 3ds calls my attention just for Pokemon but them...mario and stuff I'm already bored playing that in the other hand I would like the ps vita but don't know which games are good any help ?
I have 3DS XL and PsVita and both consoles are great. I bought 3ds for games like Zelda, Fire Emblem Awakening, Pokemon X/Y, Resident evil revelation, Project X.. and psvita for Bordelands2, Killzone Shadow fall, Rayman Legends, Assasin's Creed.. There are also games that are similar. Like Bravely Default (3DS) looks like Final fantasy (PsVita), Monster Hunter (3DS) looks like Soul Sacrifice (PsVita) and both consoles have a lot of RPG games. I have a slight preference for the 3ds but PsVita is really good too :)
PS Vita is okay and looks nice but Nintendo has games I like: Pokemon, AC, Super Mario etc. Although I think that its good to have social apps, like on PS Vita, but I don't see purpose. All that is on my phone... Right now I own 3ds xl and I'm very happy with it.
This year alone Fire Emblem Awakening, Pokemon X&Y, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Mario & Luigi Dream Team, Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity, Project X Zone, Etrian Odyssey IV and Untold, Soul Hackers, Rune Factory 4, Scribblenauts Unmasked DC, Castlevania Mirror of Fate, HarmoKnight, Mighty Switch Force 2, Attack of the Friday Monsters, Dillon's Rolling Western Last Ranger, SteamWorld Dig, and Gunman Clive all came out
Guys, they're both 2 COMPLETELY different types of gaming devices... Vita: Console on the go, AAA titled games, Can be used if you need to go somewhere and don't want to stop playing your PlayStation, Nicer looking visuals, Better performance, More Apps (UA-camr, Twitter ect.), Also getting a wider range of indie games soon. 3Ds: A unique gaming console (Can play games other consoles can't), Has more exclusives, Slightly more portable, 2 Screens, Backwards compatible, And of course the 3D feature. Now a lot of people say Nitendo has a wider range of games, however note that this does not always mean they have better games just more games. So overall the Ps Vita is mainly a Portable Console to play games that you could play on your Playstation no matter where you are. When the 3Ds is a Unique Console that plays games that are exclusive to the 3Ds device. Btw in my opinion I choose the Vita but that's just because I'm moving around a lot and prefer to have a Portable Console. Don't get me wrong, both are AMAZING but that's just what I prefer. :)
Both systems are pretty amazing with great libraries of games. Vita may have less games but playing near PS3 caliber games is a feast. And soon you will be able to remote play PS4 games on it.
Nice vid. Love both system but choose the Vita since it's way cheaper here in the Philippines and I like Disgaea 3 and to be able to import non localized games. Too bad the Vita is less popular here unlike the PSP. Hopefully Sony released a new update that will blow us off. Too bad as well as the 3DS/XL is region locked, I am still hoping and wishing for a region free ver. but if not I a still getting one in the near future once I saved up some money.
I wasn't aware the ps vita had no internal memory and that the sd cards are so expensive. I agree that that's a big deal between the two systems. Another reason to buy the 3ds :D
I prefer the 3DS much more than the Vita. Reason? 3DS has games! Fun games, awesome games and A LOT OF GAMES! 2nd reason? It has MiiVerse. 3rd reason? it has an awesome EShop with a lot of Indie-Publishers. forth reason? Local multiplayer FTW! Ah. And don't forget, it has an awesome 3D-Effect! And you don't have to pay that much :D Anyway, I'm getting a PsVita. But only for this reason: Dragonball Z: Battle of Z and all Final Fantasy games. Also Persona games are awesome :) So to say it like this: I'm only getting a Vita, cuz I want to play my fantasy games on it.
I've been thinking about getting a 3DS or a PS Vita. I have the PS4 and I was about to buy the 3DS, and then I realized when the fuck am I going to have time to play on my handheld, when I have a brand new PS4 in my face. When this thought came into my head I realized the Vita would be more appropriate for my situation due to it having remote play with my PS4. Yet, I still don't know if im going to get a Vita, because as many people said, not much worthwhile games have come out, but I'm leaning towards buying a vita later in life, or maybe I'll go out and buy it tomorrow I just don't know. Really all I would be playing on the 3DS (if I bought a 3DS) is Pokemon, like that is literally the only game, due to me being a long time fan of Pokemon, I was willing to dump $200 into a 3DS lol.
Honestly what the original game Boy tried to accomplish was brings home console experience to the handheld, but as time when on Nintendo kind of ditched that idea. They now want to bring a unique experience to the console (which they deliver) while the psvita brings a home console experience to the handheld(which it also succeeds). So in the end it's not about the games, the price or anything. Its about what experience you want as a gamer. A unique one, or a console one. Personally for me I like having a console experience on the go so I bought a vita.
I think the 3DS is more for kids. I used to have a NDS but I have a Vita now and I can use it for so much more than playing games. Internet, Music, Videos ... The Vita just looks, feels and runs better. That's my opinion but everyone has their own preference.
For me, the Vita can deliver a portable console experience, but it's still a handheld.
The 3DS also delivers a console experience, just only with sixth generation console (GC, PS2, Xbox) graphics. I don't mind the graphics though, since sixth gen was a great era of gaming. Not to mention the 3DS line up is really good so far
fred pour The PS4 does all the work, the Vita is a screen
sonicadx Cartoony graphics outlast "modern" by far.
In 10 years you'll want to puke at the Vita's attempt to look "realistic" but just like the old Pokemon games from 10 years ago, you'll look at Nintendo games and whilst it will be much worse graphics, it won't look cheesy/bad.
sonicadx I play Vita just for LBP. Unfortunately people dont download my levels because almost no one plays it :´(
MakaronCZ :''''(
Both systems are amazing, but I personally prefer 3DS, but I also want a Vita.
Now let's wait for Microsoft to make a handheld...
Hopefully, if they do, it won't cost any extra $$$ to play online.
Microsofts hand-held will overheat a lot or have the red ring of death and no exclusives games LOL
Fire Emblem: Awakening, Professor Layton series, Phoenix Wright: Dual Destiny, Layton & Phoenix Wright crossover (soon), SMT Series, Kid Icarus, Pokemon, Project X Zone, Mario, Zelda, Monster Hunter & Bravely Default. Couldn't ask more. I'm sold.
Call of duty
it all depends on what games you like
if you like games like Cod, Uncharted, Assassins creed or other violent games, get the psvita
if you like games like Mario, Zelda and Pokemon get the 3ds.
to me i think both are amazing handhelds.
it's more of if you want a handheld or if you want a portable console.
meh i like all the violent games more and the look better
Or animes action and RPG games then go for PS Vita and if Dance Anime games like Vocaloids and sim anime games go for 3DS
Great review. I'm getting both because I want two different experiences on two different handheld games.
Why I will go with the 3DS XL:
-I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 and a gaming PC so I can play modern games
-The price
-Did I mention I have a PSP?
-Those old games like Mario, Pokémon etc avalible for the 3DS XL remind me of my childhood and I LOVE that
-I SOOOOOOOOO want to play Pokémon
-I SOOOOOOOOO want to play Mario
-I SOOOOOOOOO want to play Legend of Zelda
-I don't need social apps as I have a smartphone and a tablet
-I never had a Nintendo
-I already have 2 Sony products
-3D... YEAAAAAAAH
-SD card price
-Games are more expensive on PSVITA than on 3DS XL
-1 screen... 2 screens... GIMMIE 2 CUZ 2 is better than 1!!!!!!
Sry for grammar mistakes and English
Peace
I feel you bro.. I'm 32 years old I got ps4 and recently bought a wii u but I just found out from a friend that 3DS have a lot of zelda games that I like to play when I was a kid.
Johnny Tran
I'm 11 and as far as old games go, I played Mario and other not-so-known-old-videogames.
Why am I writing long comments?
Yeah most of us now and days get alot of stuff.
And guess what?... nobody speaks about the rpg's where Nintendo is a launch/sales monster!!
the biggest advantage for the 3ds would be memory, a stupid move by sony altogether
Amen to that one. :)
Yep and look what happened to the Vita. Estimates are around 15 million sold while the 3DS sold over 75 million
Chan yeah the vita probably coulda outsold the 3ds if it weren’t for the memory cards
@@thelonelydekuscrub4817 unlikely considering the lack of first party and third party support.
@@rayzas4885 if the memory cards were cheaper more people would buy vitas so Sony would have more first party and third party developers would support it more.
A true gamer should not criticize none of them and accept the fact that these two are masterpieces.
For those who like childhood game pick 3DS
For those who like rpg, anime, shoot pick ps vita
For those who want Cyber Sleuth what :'v
It has a youtube app on the 3ds XL. It is free too.
How old are u?
SKiiDlikeaSLOPE
I am glad you are as happy with your 3ds,as I am with vita which I use as much as I did home consoles(daily). and fits my gaming preferences perfectly.
As a vita fan, I agree.
BOTH, I WANT A VITA >:3
Okay, thanks for the help man! Im still a bit boggled about which console to purchase, but this did help a lot. Thanks again!
One of the best replies I ever read regarding a console vs console video.
We're the same I'm getting one fir fire emblem and pokemon, and the upcoming ssb
***** How? i got one for 140 with pokemon x included, do you want me to play childish mario inatead?
Dude I'm 32 years old and I just found out today that the 3DS have a lot of zelda games. The games that I love to play when i was a kid, so I'm getting the 3DS soon I gotta find where I can get it for the best deal.
Johnny Tran try craigslist, its the best place for cheap deals
Sir, are you willing to try the upcoming monster hunter 4 ultimate and ironfall?
What big exiting vita games came out after 2014?
I already have a smart phone for social media things. I'm leaning more towards the 3ds, mainly because I'm looking for the more classic arcadey type games. Been stuck playing the normal shooting driving sport games. I need a change
Same here
it's basically between if you want games or not. if you want a decent game library get the 3ds. if you want nothing but a few games to chose from go with the vita.
Bullshit, the vita has a ton of games
like?
Bilbo Baggins
Both have quite a few games to select from but the selection is different for each just like home consoles..........Vita has more of my shooters and hack n slash than 3ds does
Bilbo your my hero
ily2
great job at keeping it as unbiased as possible!
Guys, stop. I think we can all agree the physical HARDWARE of the PSVita is superior to that of the 3DS XL. That doesn't mean everyone likes the games on the PSVita better as well. Games are an entire experience, and what a gamer chooses to experience is their own goddamn business.
I really think ps vita is better... I have both and for me I think ps vita can do much more. WORD
Apojuice Exactly. Its about the games.
It doesn't matter if a handheld has best, top notch graphics, it's how the game feels, not looks. Sure you probably would want decent graphics, but that's not what makes a decent game. And that's why I think nintendo's got it right.
PhantomFilms fan boy
PhantomFilms (deshawnraw walks in) OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH *rubs dollar bill across forehead*
Any thoughts?
i was a huge psp fan then i got into the dsi when they made the vita (i had to get it)
i had it for a year now but then i got the 3ds (xl) i as amazed by everything so what kind of gamer am i. Team Nintendo - Broski
Nintendo eshop does have youtube now
Thanks for the breakdown, I appreciate the video. In the market fur a new handheld since I'm so busy. Slowly turning into a casual gamer on the go
Honestly both have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to the library.
Another great fighting game coming out for the 3ds......Super Smash Bros. C'mon. That's gonna be awesome.
$300 for a PSVita? It's only 200 euros in Greece!
I just meant it wasnt worth it to me. Its because i have no use for a psvita.
Mickey Mervaras
each country has different taxes, I bought mine a month ago for $300
Its $175 in most places i think.
Its standard price is $200 wtf but if u add in a 16 or a 32gb ur looking preety close to 250-280 serniously 4gband8gb arent big enough even psplus games download all of that and ur 8gb is worthless i have a 4gb lol
I sold my vita because it's games were mostly remasters or ports....
however, i liked the free games with a psn plus acc :D
in a way its free games since i bought ps plus for 13 pounds and i played games worth 30 pounds.(not just one game, a few,)
Cant Wait for Freedom Wars!
FYI, I have a nintendo 3ds xl and like previously explained, also had a vita but sold that.
You're pretty stupid then. Especially because most games are NOT mostly remasters or "ports". There are a FEW but they only account for less that 4% of all vita games. Stupid YOU!
For my it's definitely the vita....bought a 3ds too...and sold it after a month again
The Vita is now $200 for both the 3G and Wi-Fi only versions. There is supposed to be a price drop on the memory card too.
i swear... ive had a 3ds for like a year and a half and i NEVER knew about 2:57 i always thought people bought that separate LMAO!!
*****
i didnt know i could pull that little pointer thing out lol my 3ds is full of fingerprints and stuff and i pulled that out and it was like brand new lol
I have a ps3 so I play the modern games cod, battlefield, etc.
But I don't own any Nintendo's
So should I get a Nintendo 3ds xl?
Quick replys
Yes. I own a 3DS XL, PS4, PS3, Gaming PC, Wii U, and I use the 3DS/Wii U quite a bit more than the others.
Tavin Uecker wow
You bought then yourself? Or like parents
santaclaws365 I would say go for it but you should first look at what games are actually on the DS/3DS so you know you will actually use it.
AXJessy Thanks,
I bought the Nintendo 3DS XL and bought Pokemon X right away. That's all the money I had. But I'm looking forward to buying Mario games especially mario kart and super mario, and Zelda. And I do play Pokemon X a lot.
It's a really fun game. Thanks for the info..
And yes. I bought it all myself. Not the mention my smartphone and tablet.
Psvita is much better
I dont second this its pretty obvious which system is more powerful and high tech
Jawan Perry The vita isn't a handheld. It's a portable console. Two completely different things.
Morgorath30 how can you say that they are two completely different things the fact that they are even being compared together is proof that they fall under the same category .
Rhys Patterson It's a sub genre, if you will.
I will choose 3ds
me 2
Fool psvita
3DS is for ids
VITA IS FOR GAMERS
Kids i mean
EnderGuy727 Its funny you say that because when it comes to gamers, 3ds has more adult focused games(most vita games are rated E too)
welll what about remote play Shahe Ansar ?
EnderGuy727 Not everybody has a PS4(I'm a PC gamer) and btw, there are others like the nvidia shield which are far more adept at that. Also, that has nothing to do with being a kid or adult console.
Shahe Ansar ?????
Even at the high price, I don't regret it at all.
ps vita is for hard core plyes but the 3ds is for little kids or relaxed gamers but i the ps vita is better
True whats your gammer tag on psn?
A lot of hardcore gamers like me have a 3ds and a ps vita. The ps vita is the gay cousin to the psp. The 3ds xl is far superior than the ds and the ps vita
3-4 hours on 3ds? I get around 8 on mine.
Wel i don't use 3D that much but it's on max brightness almost always, and still gets way more..
I get 10
I get around 8 hors on my 3ds too. Maybe cuz I am in power saving mode.....
Yep lol
I play with power saver on, it doesnt make a difference to performance but i can sure see a better battery life. Guys u all should try using power saver some time. Its in the same tab as the brightness settings
the 3ds has more memory then my computer WTF
thats new
how can you survive with that little memory i cant survive with 700 gigs
because i dont really care about that
RAM?! I hope not. although it is possible to run xp with 64MB of ram. With either 2GB of storage or
flamingsniper21
you don't have 700gigs of MEMORY...dumbass.
if you buy either the vita or the 3ds do you need a good internet connection to play video games like killzone mercenary or new super mario bros 2? I'm asking this because I don't have a very good internet connection. please answer back.
no you don't need internet at all to play the games offline but if you want online features you might want internet decent enough to not lag and not have any issues...
if you choose to get one i say go with the ps vita i like the games a lot better then the ds
I bought a vita after watching your video and it is amazing!!
there is no which one is better. I think we all know witch one is better. PS VITA!!!!!!! DAHHHHHH. Can you skype on the 3d s no you cant. but the vita can. Can you go on netflix on the 3ds nooooooo. ps vita all the way.
the screen is bigger. Does the 3ds have a rear touch pad.
does the 3ds have a rear touch pad noooooo. can the 3ds go on skype nooooo. does the vita have better graphics yessssssssssssss. But the 3ds does have 2 screen. to small screens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dahhhh no question vita is better. So shutup.
no idiot you can skype on there too ya terd
me i care about skype its usefull for 200 dollars dumbass that little 3ds reminds me of that 2004 flip phone that i used to have dude u suck the ps vita is better ps vita for life
Quantance Land Thats right....on psv u can watch a movie,3d can't watch movie....
3ds sucks psvita psvita psvita!
Like Super Smash Bros. series? Yes, I don't like it at all.
Mickey Mervaras
I only see the advantage of the 3DS as having more library of games, the other comparisons are merely little of value.
I can see the greatness in both handheld so maybe so should you, instead of trying to get an ego because one is doing better than the other and you picked the one doing better in markets.
that bad thing is i love playing fighting games as much as simulation
I'm a Vita guy, and those remastered PS2 collections are awesome. This doesn't apply to everyone obviously, but I like having those PS2 games that I've loved my whole "gaming life," portable. Most people don't care about that though, so just buy what you want .
you need trophies to replay a game? WTF?
It's like replaying a game for alternate endings or bonus content. For people who like to be "completionist"
i don't need trophies for replay a game....if i like the game i replay it.
"congratulation you star the game" seriously?
***** It's called replay value an give you an excuse to play more and gives more hours of gameplay trying to get extra things and such
#gameplaybeforegraphics
Peasants... That's really stupid of you. You probably don't respect the masterpieces of the gaming world. I feel sorry for you.
***** NVidia Shield is really the Master Race on portable consoles.
***** Yeah it's pretty sick, but this isn't the place to argue about it.
I have a 3DS XL
But if you are argue with PSVita is the Master Race on potable systems, NVIDIA Shield is far away the superior, that argument is invalid.
I hate the 3ds its graphics suck
I don't care about the graphics, and the 3ds is very cool but I gotta admit it. I love the vita
dude the 3ds has better games then the ps vita and this is one of the reason why sony dosen't want to support the ps vita no more
oh and about 3ds graphics sucks that not true if you play the legend of zelda ocarina of time 3D dude those graphics are amazing
edgar diaz Resident Evil Revelation look amazing on the 3DS
Connor Richards and yes it does Connor i have the demo and the graphics are really amazing
I am a long time fan of both playstation and Nintendo hence I always have both of them,no need to think which one to buy.
The 3ds is absolutely amazing, really surprised by it. Blew me away.
Very well done.
your reviews are great keep up the good work!
Even though I'm a Nintendo guy, and have been for years, I have a Vita. It's hard to pick between the 2, so I might as well try to get both :)
3ds has a youtube app, and you can get facebook and twitter on the web browser, for anyone who was wondering.
Very nice overview, thanks.
i am so excited for the release of righteous slaughter 8 for ps4, ps vita and xbox one next gen!! its gonna be such a unique and fun experience. nothing can match the thrill of point that reticle and pressing that one button every 10 seconds.
Both consoles are great! Both have great games! I'm going to get both, just like you! Thanks for the video!
I got Ocarina of Time 3d, Pokemon Y, and soon to come Zelda a Link Between Worlds. That's really all we people need.
excellent breakdown man, thanks for the info.
Well,I own both and am beyond happy with both!!!
This year alone Fire Emblem Awakening, Pokemon X&Y, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Mario & Luigi Dream Team, Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity, Project X Zone, Etrian Odyssey IV and Untold, Soul Hackers, Rune Factory 4, Scribblenauts Unmasked DC, Castlevania Mirror of Fate, HarmoKnight, Mighty Switch Force 2, Attack of the Friday Monsters, Dillon's Rolling Western Last Ranger, SteamWorld Dig, and Gunman Clive all came out
24:15 Super Smash Bros. Coming for 3DS and Wii U. Nuff' Said.
how come every 3ds vs ps vita video i see the 3ds has lower battery and the vita has half, quarter or full battery? does this mean vita is supierior?
It's because the vita only gets turned on to do these review videos. The posters actually play on the 3ds's when not posting videos.
Both systems are pretty amazing with great libraries of games. Vita may have less games but playing near PS3 caliber games is a feast. And soon you will be able to remote play PS4 games on it.
I am happy that they exist!
I got a question, does the old Pokemon games such as Pokemon heartgold and soul silver etc work on the 3ds xl? and if so does it run well?
yes
Please reply
Which one would you recommend for an 11 year old girl who loves mario and uses my vita regularly
PSvita= no games I'm really interested in or cant already play, 3Ds=Many titles i love and have been a fan of since im a child
And you don't have to pay that much :D
Anyway, I'm getting a PsVita. But only for this reason: Dragonball Z: Battle of Z and all Final Fantasy games. Also Persona games are awesome :)
So to say it like this: I'm only getting a Vita, cuz I want to play my fantasy games on it.
Have both, selling my 3ds. Not saying it's not a good console, I just like the games on the vita a lot more.
Personally for me I like having a console experience on the go so I bought a vita.
you should get a the 3ds as well because ps vita and 3ds are both fucking amazing
I think the 3DS is more for kids. I used to have a NDS but I have a Vita now and I can use it for so much more than playing games. Internet, Music, Videos ... The Vita just looks, feels and runs better. That's my opinion but everyone has their own preference.
3ds xl ftw hopefully getting one soon too!
It's not matter if it's powerful or not. It's about how much fun the handheld is.
