    U should do a large greenhouse over ur garden next so ur not limited by the growing season in area

    • @Bamboo4U2
      @Bamboo4U2 5 років тому +2

      This is *definitely* something they should do and even better, if he can run power and water to it that'll really improve their chances at a successful planting season. As it is, he really can't even grow tomatoes and last year, a lot of his tomatoes got blossom end rot (due to the tons of rain he got) so yeah, indoor growing seems like a much smarter idea for them.

    • @keandric2765
      @keandric2765 4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, that's something I've suggested a few times. Given how Short of a growing season they have, if they would build some Permanent greenhouses then they could at least be growing carrots, salad greens, and stuff during Fall and Spring

    GO Gina GO! But this is for Al; true story. I was helping do a tear off of the dreaded luan paneling today. During clean-up two studs + two braces caught my attention and I just stared at them trying to figure out why. Then I thought, "I do appreciate a good square." Then I thought of Al and all he has taught me by observation during the barn build. Thank you, Al; you have been a blessing to me. thumbsup from the Mitten.

      I’m 67 & I used to work on my car. I changed the points, plugs & oil on a regular basis. I’d fix a lot of things that went wrong, thanks to my dad teaching me. My minor in college was Industrial Arts: drafting, woodworking, upholstery & refinishing. I have had a pretty extensive set of tools since my 20’s. I bought my first house at 26, so I was always fixing things. I even helped reroof my house & another one. Again, my dad taught me a lot. Oh yes, I also used to hunt & fish. My late husband never hunted till he met me. Anyone can do anything they put their mind to. Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸

    Al and Gina...Its so relaxing and calming to the soul to see you building your farm together. Any ideas for the next building project? Just a suggestion...It appears you have a lot of field stone. Why not try building a small out building with field stone like was done in the 18th and early 19th century? You see many of those in Pennsylvania and even New England....and it may enhance your masonry skills, Al. That would be interesting using your local resources...maybe a storage shed or root cellar?

    Yes, I have to admit I've never seen or would have considered a dirt floor wood shed. In my youth in upstate NY we had an abundance of rock like you do so we put ours on really big single rocks footings. The rest was old style mortise and tenon log joinery. We didn't get new fangled until we used nails to hang the slab siding. The slab was free, just mill waste: First slices off logs they milled square. It was free back then. They had to pay to have it hauled off so they were happy to have anyone take as much as they wanted. We built all our out buildings with it.

    I saw one farmer have a good idea for feeding his sheep. He had a 3 foot round plate of concrete that they all knew was their dinner table.

    Ahh, full moon-it effects everything! Gina you are becoming quite the handy gal, using those tools like a pro! The wood shed is really coming today. The garden looks so nice Gina, you and Olivia are good garden picking buddies. You picked a nice bounty of cucumbers. So yummy. The cheeseburgers looked so delicious! I love a good burger and miss having our own steers/meat. Can't wait to see more of the wood shed go up.

    Glad to see you working together. It's going together quickly. Gina's going to be a journeyman before you know it. What's Olivia's is Figaro's. Sixtyfive degrees this morning, ninetyfive with fiftyfive percent humidity this afternoon. It's cooler.
