Omfg, I've been searching for HOURS and found nothing, I check it out every few months when I realize how wet the passenger side is. It's been 5 years! Countless mechanics that had zero clue. And only fixed the single issue I came in for. And it's THIS EASY?!!!! I can't thank you enough!
Thanks for the fine video, its very instructive. In may case, the hose is fine -no obstruction- but I can actually see water dripping from the case its self on both sides -the passenger and driver-. Could it be that the casing is clogged and how does that get fixed. I would greatly appreciate your advise. Thank you.
I always ran it up on ramps early summer and jammed a shop vac on the drain hose for a few seconds. Sucked it silly. Don't know if it was spider webs or leaf debris but ran clear all summer every summer.
I just had a 2008 Sienna in the other day with that same complaint. I pulled the hose off the evap case and little to no water came out. I stuck a zip tie in and the water started gushing out. I quickly put the hose back on and it drained for a good 2-3 minutes. Had to have completely filled the evap case. Once it drained, I got in there with my borescope camera to find the blockage. Turned out to be a balled up foil candy wrapper. Hmmm...how did that get in there? Checked the cabin air filter....found it completely missing! Took some doing to get that out but finally got it out in pieces.
@@GoTechTraining I do not have a sunroof. Could it possibly be from too much condensation from cups in the cup holder that ends up building beneath the surface and then growing? Cause that's about the only other thing I could think of. And thank you for responding!!
I've only seen one drain back up, but there was a little water that came out once it was cleared. I did see a coolant leak show itself (heater core leak) on an 06 Kia Sorento come out that drain. Not good. Hope your doing well Mike.
Hey Mike, ohh heater core leaks...ugh always a ton of $$ to fix...well almost always. All is well here, hope the same for you bud :) Mike Becker, Senior Instructor
Wow, that's a nice running system there! Making a ton of condensate - that's a great sight on a hot summer day! I had a '99 Camry surprise me once - when I removed the hose expecting a trickle, a torrent of at least a gallon came out of there! It overflowed the container I had TWICE! HAHAHA! Had to pull up the carpet to let everything dry for weeks and weeks. I can laugh about it now, LOL! I just finished installing a WVE coil with NGK Iridium plugs in a '06 Xterra, 4.0. Wouldn't you know, the misfiring cylinder was #1 - the most difficult of all 6 to reach on that engine. Just my luck! At least now I know THAT one is good, so I won't have to go in there again for a long time. Anyway, great vid as usual, Mike. Have a great weekend! 👍🍻 Oh, and I like how your lift reservoir has a drain plug! I had to remove my entire reservoir to do an oil change last month! I got gypped! 🤣
@@GoTechTraining HI, did an indicator light come on in the car with the stopped up hose. My indicator light came on last night and today I noticed water on the front passenger floor.
Good to know; I never had this happen to me. Just wondering: Could you have started at the underside of the vehicle at the outlet and maybe probed with a thin wire possibly avoiding the interior mess?
Hey John, thanks for watching! Maybe it's more common in my neck of the woods? Who knows. As far as probing from the bottom, sure you could. Depends on the configuration of the hose. This one 90° right as it went through the body, so I wasn't really able to do it that way on here. Mike Becker, Senior Instructor
whoops, just said the same thing before seeing this :) squeezing open the pinch point and shop vac works if you can get to it underneath, I know some cars they like to hide it in no-mans land
I have wet floor on passenger side but the back portion of the carpet at the firewall is dry as a bone. Just a small puddle on carpet right at one corner of the carpet almost by the seat. Can this be something else? Can you help? Thank you.
Any drain, from the interior, usually won't have debris in it... Vent drains that leaves can get into are a major pita. ANY open hole/tube in a shady spot is a prime candidate for a spider to seal up.... (Major cause of headlight condensation is spiders in the vents..)
I had fan blower replaced last year. Due to it burned out due to mice possibly stuffing it. ? But have water originally on passenger side, do not see water on ground. Now drive side has it see it coming from under the dash where bolt or mount comes through. But the passenger side looks like a flood. I Dont drive much, due to a remote employee. Just hit 100K miles. Vehicle was bought used in 2019, but it's 2018. Car been on road since 2017 due to being a car rental when I purchased it with 30K.
Don’t know what is up but my car on the passenger side is leaking water. I don’t why and have no idea. It’s a 2003 Nissan 350z. The leak is right behind my front passenger wheel and I can’t figure out if I’m having the issue states here. My interior is fine, but under the car it’s leaking. Please help, I’m clueless.
I have owned a lot of cars back in the 90s and never had this problem with a wet passenger floor my 2013 Saturn has a big problem with it so I think it's a new car problem which is BS they know what's causing it and they don't they make us go through this after we spend that much money to get a new car
I bought a portable steam cleaner and The dry stuff that pulls in moisture into the can into canister. What you would use in your home for dampness. I think its called damprid?

Hey Jon, thanks for watching! Usually that's related to a door or window seal. Also check out the sunroof drains and seals if the car has one. Mike Becker, Senior Instructor

Wonderful, I was baffled by this passenger side water in my 2019 Explorer. Makes total sense. Thanks!
Thank you Mike. Good job again. Have a blessed and safe week to you and your family.

Would this explain water coming in when it rains too? My Nissan NV 3500 floods the passenger floorboards every time it rains.

Hello! What if there's no water on the front passenger floor, but only the rear passenger floor??
Thank you for the video!
Hello,
Do you have a sunroof in your vehicle? Sunroof drains can get plugged and cause water to leak towards the rear of the vehicle.

why not squeeze open/clean/shop-vac the end under car? or do they have it hidden somewhere stupidly hard to get at
You may be able to, sure. I wanted to be able to show the hose and how to get at it.

Is this a universal issue with all chevy vehicles or all vehicles?
Can this also happen by running the heater?
I did all that and no water came out, could it possible be a clog from under the car location where the drian ends?

My car is leaking but the hose is clean,, it looks like the water is coming from other place,, what u think?
Is that water hot or cold coming out of there?
I had fan blower replaced last year. Due to it burned out due to mice possibly stuffing it. ? But have water originally on passenger side, do not see water on ground. So is it normal if the drain plug under the car for the a/c is leaking more water then usual is that normal?
The amount of water that drains from the A/C will change depending on the temperature and humidity level outside.

I'm surprised his complaint wasn't the A/C doesn't work that great, warm, cold, warm, cold along with the water problem.
Yeh, that's a really good point. No complain on that at all.

What if it's a brown water draining?
Hmmm does it smell sweet? Kind of like syrup? It could be coolant leaking from the heater core.

It doesn't have a smell

why do they even run a drain hose into the cabin in the first place ?
Just got mine fixed it had the end of a stick freshener in the hose!
Just had to do this on my 2016 Kia Optima and turns out there was a dead spider blocking the hose…
I have also had spiders clog drains, its crazy how strong and water proof there webs are!
