When I first bought reforger open up the game.. walked up to a car and saw those animation.. my Mind was Blown.. I Was there 5000 years ago.. 2001 when Operation Flashpoint fired upon us... I was there when Arma came to us with a new name new maps and a new feeling of what Mil-Sims can be... And right now Reforger knows us..
My favorite thing about the game Foxhole, every single thing is manufactured and transported by hand. I would like to see more of this in Arma just for the immersion and simulation side of things. I realize not all players would want this so maybe it could be a server option. DCS has settings where you can choose "Game" or "Sim" mode.
I mean such thing is just made, it would take years at least to make just for majority of the playerbase to not use it. Why do it when better things can be focused on.
Really great points about immersion. Anecdotally, there seem to be a good amount of players who are playing right now for the ‘chillsim’ gameplay loop of doing logi and building up FOBs. Improving these kinds of soft systems is going to make the mundane tasks more appealing in the same way that Dayz hooks people in by contrasting boring tasks with risk. Personally I’d love a Logistics Expert class of character wearing hi-vis and holding directing batons, but I dream.
The community I'm part of ran a conflict PVE server on Arland A little while ago and a couple of times I volunteered to run logistics for the team. I honestly had a great time driving my truck and moving supplies to frontline bases so my team could keep up their assaults with CAS little birds and respawn with their costly loadouts. It felt important. Especially when they needed supplies delivered as soon as a base was capped and I'd have to drive in during the enemy's counterattack so they could build arsenals and living quarters to solidify control over the base. I would gladly volunteer to be the maintenance chief for a Huey gunship crew coming back spent, damaged and running low on gas. Arma doesn't have to be all about spooky operator stuff all the time to be a fun milsim.
I agree, the current state of the game is just a glorified fps, there is a huge lack in deliberacy in current playstyles and changes are needed. Firstly a reduction of handholding would be a good start, fro example in dcs, a great part of that game is figuring out how to operate your vehicle and while its very complex its also satisfying once you figure it out, I remember satisfaction I got from figuring out how to operate the rio of an f14b it was great. handholding removes the satisfaction of this. I also really like your ideas on encumbrance and how that could build attachment with vehicles. Secondly the game needs to be more punishing, mistakes should be costly, mistakes should be dire. There should be scenarios where its better to call of an op because you fucked up one too many times on your way to/ during it. I really like your ideas on your medic video and how punishing getting damaged should be. death should also be a catastrophic thing in game (HOT TAKE) you should only be able to spawn at main. You died on a point, tough shit you fucked up somewhere, reap the consequences of that. I feel like the implementation of these changes (less handholding and more punishment) would increase methodical gameplay and all around improve the arma experience.
I agree, I think anything that can easily increase immersion without too much extra work such as the player entering an animation when loading would be amazing. Players standing around entities and things magically appearing is quite jarring. It ruins immersion.
IMO there should be the option to add NPCs to do this job for more casual servers. That way you can have something like KOTH where it's a more casual experience while preserving a more hardcore invasion gamemode which requires a lot more player cooperation.
I agree with him, to be honest; I like the complexity. I agree it may become a monotonous experience; however, I feel it does add more realistic depth to the game.
by this logic we should put supply boxes in trucks manually or with the use machines...I think just making the process of relaoding rockets slower that would encourage multiple players to do it would work better to be honest. enouraging players be part of the logistic system is already a challange and most arma reforger games are not that long.
@grigorkyokuto7546 That would require a dedicated logistics player base...some communities would benefit but casual player base would struggle even more. And honestly there aren't sufficient player numbers per server to justify so many players being out of combat(especially with the current map sizes)
Such activities would be fun and cool but they really need a CAREFUL balance of animations/time spent doing let it become a useless time sink (like in star citizen). But I agree that making it more "simy" would be cool and the thing that people want to see. There must be balance between full fidelity with animations and all and gameplay. Otherwise we should also load individual ammo into the magazine by hands))
i think having the option is best, where i suspect most will just choose to automatically load some will opt for manual loading for their own immersion
I honestly hope the devs for Arma Reforger revisit the sound and adding haptics to the game. The haptics is probably a long shot, but they can definitely revisit the weapon sounds. There is nothing worse than a FPS with weapons that sound underwhelming. There are modded servers I play simply because the weapons sound GREAT! Weapons should always be unique to themselves in how they sound and feel (if haptics are added). I feel like arma reforger lacks BIG TIME when it comes to weapon sounds, they all have this what seems like basic and similar sound. Its obvious not much effort was put into the weapon sounds.
The previous vehicles already didn't have reload animations. I don't know why you thought Heli's would be the exception. It's pretty clear the infantry are getting the lion's share of effort.
Problem with many of those repetitive tasks is that only very small percentage of people will be doing them. Most players avoid them thus the game changes more and more into mindless FPS. Even if those tasks would not require any additional activities. You division between primary and secondary activities may not be quite accurate. You can play 10 hour round without shooting a single shot, doing supply runs and building only and still actively help to win the game. At the same time you can kill 300 enemies in 1 hour and you'll achieve nothing, because there no supplies nor buildings in bases, so they will be captured by enemies immediately.
Id love to see all of DAYZ survival elements added to a some reforger privately owned servers. With the caveat that food/water are easily available from supply/main base. Same goes for rearm and resupply animations and mechanics. But as far as public server go I think it would be financial suicide for the devs. Play the game how you want, Thats whats beautiful about ARMA.
I highly disagree. There is a point where there is too much player management where it isn’t fun. No matter how “interactive” it is to do it. If you want to play a “video game” which is what we are doing. Playing a game. I don’t want to have to drag a cart around to refill a chopper instead of the rockets being able to reasonably fit in my bag. Or something. This is like an anti “fun” mentality. Where instead of doing things that really matter like flying around in the chopper and actually fighting we’re doing useless stuff that hinders that and makes it unplayable. Like how about fixing vehicles? When the engine gets shot should we have to do an engine swap everytime we take a bullet? Fuck that. And you can already see what that leads to with the choppers and tanks etc in the same topic
Honestly, its just too much realism. Even this is a massive improvement on older arma titles, adding a whole animation system letalone even more indepth system of carts and sheet would take way too much resources from things far more important, like more content and features like editor.
Nah dude fuck that I’m tired of over complex shit you know? At some point I get tired of doing stuff so I can play the game the way I want to play instead of actually playing the game. In the past 5ish years if you want to play an immersive game you have to treat like a second job learning all the intricate details and practicing them to become more proficient. I understand that this is fun for some but for most it’s needless and frustrating. Especially if you spend a lot of time preparing for something all for it to go to waste because of a bug/accident
What do you think he has wrong about this? I think he has been correct about HMG's, recoil, and suppression. For me reforger is about team play, getting people to do anything (attack, logistics, anything) is the real joy of the game.
bro shut up he's not wrong if you want an arcadey game go play cod, he opinion is valid and he never said that he represents the community, go get a job

currently trying to work on a game mod that uses resources around the map to build tanks/planes
I mean such thing is just made, it would take years at least to make just for majority of the playerbase to not use it. Why do it when better things can be focused on.
Arma x Foxhole is the future

can you just let other do it? or it could be a server setting. I didn't think the SC's muh tedious will flow over to Arma, and here we are.
@grigorkyokuto7546 That would require a dedicated logistics player base...some communities would benefit but casual player base would struggle even more.
And honestly there aren't sufficient player numbers per server to justify so many players being out of combat(especially with the current map sizes)
@@grigorkyokuto7546 I mean "can you just let other do it" is the attitude most people already have in reforger, it just would not work.
I agree that secondary activities are really important to the gameplay experience, Zomboid is great example.
Such activities would be fun and cool but they really need a CAREFUL balance of animations/time spent doing let it become a useless time sink (like in star citizen).

Non-Germans simply wouldn't get it 😂

boring tasks with other players is fun, had a blast with a talkative crew whilst on a road trip from levie base to pierre, then died quickly to a mmg
The previous vehicles already didn't have reload animations. I don't know why you thought Heli's would be the exception. It's pretty clear the infantry are getting the lion's share of effort.
atleast trees will be destroyable
Can you recommend a good server ?

i get what you saying but i think for that depth of gameplay they need to atleast double or triple the max server size if you want to keep it PVP
agreed

Here comes Caracal with another unhinged take, thinking he represents the whole community.
he is new to the game, started yapping on the discord and some people fueled him to become this....
What do you think he has wrong about this? I think he has been correct about HMG's, recoil, and suppression. For me reforger is about team play, getting people to do anything (attack, logistics, anything) is the real joy of the game.
He never said he represents the whole community. He is sharing his own ideas.
