I LOVE THIS CAR! I have the California version which is 220BHP - not sure if it's actually less powerful/less turbo or if it's just different readings in the USA vs UK - it's the 7.5 performance - I know they are cheaper here so probably they cut some costs... Anyway happy to be driving my dream manual car!
The 7.5’s here are either 230 BHP or 245BHP in Performance Pack like this one. US emissions have always cut back the GTI power but as you say, you’re probably paying less than us Brits !
@@ChrisHooperOnCars so mine is the standard but here 7.5 standard has the performance pack (red badges and diff) and also I just read it could be cause of the petrol here being lower octane, even our VPower - but I believe it was around $30k (prob plus tax at around 10%) new so I imagine that's cheaper - not built in Germany though it still feels solid and I am a lucky fella to have this car especially in a manual (especially in California...)
Yes. Have now. Liked it, they set it up really well. Even came up with a manual box. But the infotainment screen was maddening, so now it’s 8.5 new gen.
The mk8 dash is a mess, everything through touch screen....not good.....I live on single track bumpy roads with a touch screen my figures would be bouncing everywhere as I try to stab the function I want.
Ive owned about 100 cars since 1970 and I say the Golf GTI I put in the top.
Which is your favourite generation?
I have the 2020 base model gti mk7.5 , analog dash and even smaller center screen, and I love it so much over the Mk8. Less screens the better.
I’m thinking of going down the same route! MK8 just doesn’t do it for me.
Yes MK7.5 is the best
Lovely intro ❤❤❤❤❤
Love mine! Yes there are faster cars but how fast do you want to go!? Does everything really well. 😊!
That’d be my question too. Do you need the R?

Lovely
The 7.5 performance is beautiful, the Mk 8 is 🤮
I agree. VW dropped the ball with the Mk 8!
What’s the difference between performance pack and regular
245 ps v 230, upgraded brakes and the all important front LSD.
@@ChrisHooperOnCars my GTI has the GtI emblem with red letters and GtI on the brake calipers. Does that mean I have the performance pack
Rolex Gmt II pepsi on the wrist ;)
I wish!
have you driven the mk8?

Sure that's Isaac blue
Isaac blue a lighter blue?
Sry but the mk8 is better in everyway.
You’re on your own there
They’re about to launch a Mk 8.5. Hopefully it’ll right the infotainment system wrongs. Not a big ask considering the deluge of negativity!
@@ChrisHooperOnCars thanks Chris I’m excited again already 🤩

Interior of mk8 and exterior is such a downgrade from the 7.5. It looks some much better in every sense.
Nope.. mk8 is juuuuicy is38 swap it and maybe you'll keep up
😆I think the power gains are marginal tbh 😊
The Mk 8 GTi has the same power as the Mk 7.5 performance, so pointless swapping.
