      Watch the Savagegeese video on the Mk8. They were blown away by the improvements in driving dynamics over the Mk 7. I don't think the interior is worse, just different. I don't like it at all, but I'll take it, as long as they make the digital interfaces mostly glitch free. Right now my MK7 is running fine, so it'll be a couple of years before I even consider a MK 8. They should have the bugs worked out by then.

      @@johnstone7697 it is worse and different. But it being worse is not an opinion, but a fact. It's laggy, touch buttons aren't as precise as physical buttons, you don't get the same feedback from touch controls as you do from physical controls, touch controls are more distracting than physical controls and VW also has taken some functions off the dash and hidden it in the settings of the infotainment center which aren't nearly as convenient to use as they were before. So you have the interior that is slower, more distracting and less convenient to use. it's not user friendly.
      Cars interior is one of the most important aspects of a car. i'd wait for at least a facelifted mk8 gti because the problems with the current mk8 interior aren't just software based. Your money though.

      @@rogeld6677 I agree with you. The better power is nice. It may very well be a better drive. With all that said i prefer buttons on my steering wheel. Honda did this just a decade ago and there was so much back lash about going buttonless. I do not like the new interior. The only thing I do like are the full lcd screen for the driver and the fan cool seats. They should have been added in the 2020 model when the Golf R was discontinued. I'm in need of a new car. I was seeing if i should wait or pull the trigger now. After seeing the new GTI I'm not happy with what is being presented. When i drive i feel around for the correct button. I do not need to look at my steering wheel.

    Mk7 gli owner here. Wow this is alottt more different then i expected. Theres a certain beauty about late model mk7s and mk7.5s being that everything on the car has been around a while and proven. With all the different mechanics of the mk8 i personally would not buy it for a few years or a refresh as you dont know how much stuff is gonna be faulty and need an update/redesighn. Thats the only thing that sold me on the gli is that its mechanically the same as a mk7 gti Pp which has been around along time and there have been multiple parts that have undergone updates-ie water pump. Early model cars almost alwaysss have more problems then you want regardless of what brand/vehicle. But it sounds like the mk8 would be alottt more fun to drive!!!
    Edit: asp bery important in that being this new 2 things are going too happen 1good, 1bad: bad is that apart from things that are the same as the mk8 the new mechanical stuff is gonna have a much higher price tage too fix/ replace aswell as possibly some aftermarket hiccups figuring out what can fit the car. #2 a very good thing!!! A common theme is that parts for older generation cars get cheaper!!!! Thats a very good thing if you hate spending money but love modifying your car; oh and also when your car breaks of course..that too😅😂

    Hey. Can you confirm that new HPFP on the MK8 operates at 350 bar? Cause that's a lot. It's more like 1500 psi higher than an upgraded HPA HPFP for a MK7 car.

    I'm still in a love-hate relationship with the new headlights on the MK8..
    On other news.. I had the same thought as you but reversed, regarding the turbo. I think it's essentially the same diameter, but the longer shaft on the MK8 gives more velocity for the exhaust gas to spin up the spool and create more suction on the fresh air side. But I'm pretty sure there will be engineers explaining this in other comments. Thanks for the cool vid!

    It's taken VW 8 generations of the car to try and match what Honda have been doing with the Type R brand.
    And they still haven't quite managed it.

    • @WitchYuki22
      @WitchYuki22 5 місяців тому

      Not realizing that the original GTI is actually the grandfather of the civic SI/type R or pretty much any modern sport compact. The fact that Honda had to make Si as a middle child option before the fk8 gen means that the GTI forced Honda to catch up.
      Btw what happened to those 10th gen civic issues like A/C issues, oil dilution and gear grinds (especially for the type R)? Oh wait you Honda fanboys just sweep those issues under the rug because "hOnDa iS ReLiAbLe!" 😂😂

    • @DjNikGnashers
      @DjNikGnashers 5 місяців тому +1

      @@WitchYuki22 I'm not talking about previous versions. The Mk1 Golf GTi was a groundbreaking vehicle, although the Talbot Sunbeam Ti was a better car only 2 years later. and the Sunbeam Lotus another year after was the ultimate hot hatch with 150bhp, blowing the Golf into the weeds.
      In the same year 1976, Renault 5 made an 'Alpine' which was just as fast and handles better, so not sure the Golf could be the 'godfather' of the hot hatch thing.
      The Lancia Beta HPE from 1975 a year before the Golf, was a hatchback, and had a 2 litre twin cam, much more powerful than the Golf.
      The Alfasud Sprint was also released in 1976.
      There is an argument for the 1974 Simca 1100 Ti being the first hot hatch, but either way, the Golf wasn't first.

      I am a serial BMW owner for the past 15 years, and before that had all sorts from Fords, Vauxhalls, Renaults, Saabs, Morris, Hillman, Nissan, and dozens more.

      @WitchYuki22 5 місяців тому

      @DjNikGnashers and is there any of those hot hatches still around these days? That's what I thought lmao
      Don't backpeddle now. Your original comment was about VW catching up to Honda in terms of sport compact when in fact, it was the other way around

    • @DjNikGnashers
      @DjNikGnashers 5 місяців тому

      @@WitchYuki22 I think you meant 'are' any of those hot hatches around these days.
      Well the Honda Civic came out in 1972, a LONG time before the Golf, and it's still around.
      You misread my 'original comment' maybe because you are a bit thick, and not able to understand basic English ?
      The Mk1 Golf isn't around now is it ?
      It wasn't the first hot hatch, and it wasn't the best, as I have proved.
      Every newer version of the Golf, has been outclassed by other brands and models. The Civic (seeing as you want me to talk about Honda), 4th generation had a fantastic SiR in 1989 which was much better than the Mk2 Golf as the Golf had been around since 1983 and was well behind the brand new Civic. Lets not even talk about the Mk3 Golf in 1991, as it was a proper pudding, an absolute turkey.
      The Civic has been ahead of the Golf ever since.
