This is a perfect example of how a voice synthesizer should be used. He's a very talented artist. He did not change his voice due to lack of ability but rather to enhance the piece. In my opinion trench is one of their best albums because it sounds very professional and well made and it also shows how he still puts emotion into his music even after getting really famous and it shows how far they’ve come in terms of musical experience, like they’ve gotten much better at making music and the sound is really nice

This isnt autotuned. Autotune is designed to edit a person's voice so every time they miss a note or change pitch strangely, it doesn't show up in the final product. This is an effect or purposefully overly tuned to make his voice sound weird (the opposite of what autotune is for).

No, it is Autotuned. Because Autotune is the name of the software used, not a weird word to describe the effect or technique. It's a pitch correction software, but when you raise the gate and turn it way tf up, you get a weird robotic sounding effect. Same stuff Cher did way back in the 90s and artists like Lil Wayne and T Pain made into an entire aspect of their sound.
@@jasonhook3884it's more like a vocoder, that's what cher used. it's the same thing daft punk did too, its kinda like a talkbox and auto tune mixed in a sense. i'm a sound and music engineer, or what you would call it in the music world, a sound designer, autotune does a similar thing, but you can tell the difference, it's almost like the texture of the voice, that's how you can tell the difference between autotune and a vocoder+ some effects

We all know that Tyler has an amazing voice, and the purpose of the modifier was not to make it sound better! Josh is not there because this was before he joined the band and the other two members are called Nick and Chris. Perhaps it is auto tune as you say but my point still stands that the purpose of this is to have an effect, in comparison to the common use of auto tune. I have loved, LOVED Taylor Joseph since I first heard Stressed Out on the radio. His music helped me so much thru a very dark time in my life. It is one of the reasons (other than my kids) that I’m still alive.
I flew to LA alone to see them at the Forum. I met a person at that concert who is now one of my best friends. It was like fate put us together.
I’m 56 years old and thought I would be the only “old” person but I was not. The crowd was all ages and all races all singing together because we know all the words to every song.
Taylor had us sing the choruses on our own. I had tears pouring down my face when he sang Trees near the end.
His words help me because they express feelings I have too. Difficult feelings and hard problems of life are made easier to bear when you can share them with others.
I am grateful to God for Taylor and Josh Dunn!! ❤️

I don't know how I feel about the autotune, but, I like it better when an a singer that I know can actually sing uses it. Like, the harmonies at 1:28 really use it perfectly. I still think I would've preferred to hear Tyler sing without it, but, it still sounds great.
I'm glad that he phased it out a bit toward the end. Also: 2:47, that's some heart-wrenching shit.

As another producer, I can sure as hell tell you this is a vocoder. Its a vocal effect many artists use. A vocoder can be routed in a way to re-pitch a voice. My guess, which I could be wrong as there are many ways to achieve this affect, is he put his voice through a vocoder that plays the same notes he sings. Auto-tune doesn't make your voice sound as robotic as this does.

I'm glad Josh joined. These two (especially the drummer) are just casually playing while Tyler is running around and giving off 500% more energy. Josh is just as into the performances as Tyler and it really makes the group better.

Frankly, I like it. I love it. It makes this cover stand out in T|O|P's work. Auto-tune and vocorders are lame.....when used to make up for bad singing. They are awesome, when used on occasion, to spice up the music. Tyler proves in the bridge he doesn't NEED to use them.
This version, in my opinion, stands proudly, and trumps the original, because of its unique approach in vocals. When I first acquired it, I listened to it 20 times in a row due to how awesome I thought it was.
