It was quieter than usual, we get automatic small arms, mortars and Chinook's from Odiham - sadly the main battle tanks have left with the SEME a while ago, they were great!
@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation the original key will manually pop the boot by turning the key in the lock. But, strangely, the copied keys I've made and programmed will do everything bar open the boot manually like that. It's kind of odd
Timm hi thank you for the video, this is more than u think. We learned lock mech. how works, how emergency system open it, how priced same parts in different part number, rain drain can cause rust, how to marked nuts to no need aligning them again. This 15 minutes video is as a pill worth minimum 5 year experience on this car.
Didn’t try it because in 20 years of BMW ownership I didn’t have to and interest didn’t provoke me. It’s a mechanical lock. Why wouldn’t it work? Similar to does the tow hook work? No idea. Never needed to tow it.

Hi Timm, Would it be possible to contact regarding a E38 E10 Alpina please?
You can find me on Bimmerforums.com
Someone failed to steal my e34 535i because they didn’t lift door handle and turn key at same time. Central locking was broken
That will teach them!

Bmw called this ghetto modus.when the glovebox is closed and you open the bmw only the drivers door open because you are in a ghetto modus
Found out about this by accident.
Most people do!
is that meant to work for an e39? I don't think it is the same.
It uses the same actuator (well on the Touring) but I think it uses a cable instead though.

Very kind of you Ali!
1998 e38 has the soft close mechanism for the boot which is different but has its own set of quirks which I have discovered over the years 🤣🤣
Tell me about it, I've had four Seven's!
Another interesting and informative video for BMW owners. Thank you Timm!
My pleasure Alejandro!

My E38 lock fails every few years so its required maintenance unless you want to drill a hole one day.
