    Nice work. I’m doing this after seeing others have the fast smoother shifting.

      Definitely worth it bro! The shifts are much better now!

    Another solid video man, it'd be interesting to see footage of it being driven after the shim install to see how noticeable it is.

      Definitely! Not sure if you have checked, I am wrapping a car right now so that is consuming my time. I will definitely be back to my normal nonsense soon.

    After you get it together I'd be curious of some driving characteristics. With buying a used IS now like 3 or 4th owner, I'd like to try and figure out without removing the transmission pan and valve body if it's been shimmed already.

      Is your car boosted now?

    • @MidwestMechanic

      @@Knownworldwide no
      But when shifting it seems firm and quick not smooth I feel like but haven't drove other IS not compared

      @@MidwestMechanic it’s more than likely not shimmed. They shift ok from the factory for stock power levels. However after boosting this car, I notice that it’s not nearly firm enough.
      You certainly could shim it if you would like.

    I'd be curious if there are any ATF flow issues with the springs being compressed more than intended? Will you run into reliability issues over an extended period of time?

      Shouldn’t be a problem. This method is definitely an old trick for transmissions. People have been doing this to is300 for years. I believe the longest guy I know is 3 years around 500whp with this mod and a bigger trans cooler.
      I’ve driven it and it feels soo much better! Shifts are crispy under WOT where before it would slip so bad.

    Will a a650e work with 2jzgte vvti

    • @Knownworldwide

      Yes it will bolt up, however it depends on what car it’s going into. Wiring will be the main concern and what you plan on using to run the motor AND transmission.
      What car are you using?

    If I do this and turn the knob to bump up the line pressure, will I have to (or should i) add a trans cooler? Will it create any more heat than normal? I've been wanting to do this to my gs400.

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide  Рік тому +3

      It will not generate anymore heat. Slow shifts generate heat because the clutches are slipping. A transmission that shifts quicker and harder won’t allow the clutches to slip since they are being engaged right away.
      Adding a cooler will help in keeping temps down if you live in a hot area. However unless your GS is pushing more than 350-375 WHEEL horsepower, doing this mod alone won’t require a cooler. If you drift your car or do donuts a lot then I would definitely get a cooler anyway even if you don’t do this mod.

      @@Knownworldwide yeaaah...my gs has 238k and I drive it 100+ miles everyday. I do the occasional donut and slide it every now and then, but nothing serious. It's on my channel, check it out. I might do this to a junkyard trans and keep my OG one. Thanks homie!

      @Knownworldwide  Рік тому +1

      @@travisstamp7428 Junkyard transmission might actually be garbage. I actually thought about doing the same thing but decided to just mod my transmission in my car. Since I knew it shifted perfectly fine. I like the wheels on your GS.
