Great job! Saved the top soil and starts digging his sides first as wide as he needs. A lot of guys start in the middle right away. My dad taught me to start wide because the middle will hold your bucket.
What do you mean, how can you profit? Just hypothetically, if it costs the owner $1000 a month for the excavator payment, but the owner charged this customer $5k to dig this long ditch, that leaves the owner $4k profit before paying the operators wage.
I wish i could dig pipeline ditch in groundnlike that in wv if ya get 1500 feet thats a good day being held with a winch hanging off a hill all day standing the edge of the windshield
What else are they going to do with it other than dig? This is the most profitable kind of work. Digging in nice material like this is easy on equipment. The hourly rate for digging trenches is going to be the same as the hourly rate for digging anything else with that same machine.
your spoil piles are supposed to be minimum of 2 feet from the bank and if you look at the bottom of the ditch it is wavy the same depth throgh out is the main part but shouldnt matter your in bfe
I understand it'd take way longer to dig this by hand...but I don't see how a company can make payments on a machine that costs $200k+ from getting payed to dig ditches? How could they ever profit?

Your dad was damn right!!!
perfect, coming from a farmer there's nothing better then when they correctly separate the sand fro top soil.
Straight as an arrow! Nice job 👍🏼
tidy work, it,s nice to see an efficient operator once in a while,
It's a bit hazey but from what I can see of the ditch so far, this guy is an excellent operater.
wow this is probably one of the best operators i've seen on youtube
wow cool video, smoothest, most efficient operator I've seen on youtube sor far. Looks like so much fun!
Huh? The man hours saved by using excavators pays for itself very quickly.
i agree, this guy is a very good operator.

Like it! That's a good operator
Nice, only I would scrape a 2' walk path between top of ditch and spoil piles. Hard to walk around all the lumps.
Osha requires 2 foot from edge of ditch to spoil pile
Nice ditch dude
Very clean. Nice work.

But how can you profit when the company has to make payments on expensive machinery with funds just from digging ditches?
