    Repairing everything is your contribution to preventing landfill. Most people I come across can't repair anything. You are the same as me, everything is a challenge. It keeps your brain working. Nice video by the way. I've subscribed.

    Same here! Always fixing things, but while frustrating, it's always a learning experience in some sense. It's hard to be grateful when you're at level 3 back from where you started :)

      Indeed, I often seem to go 2 steps forward and 5 backwards.

    Sounds like one of those days in the shop I just head back into the house and try it another day

      That's probably the best way Doug.

      It seems that many of these B&D saws suffer this problem, when I did the video I thought it was just mine and that no one would be interested it the video.

    I have the same bandsaw and the speed controller pulley was seized on its shaft when I bought it. It took a while to free it off but then worked perfectly.

    Had exactly the same problem on one of these saws a couple of months ago and had to re-sheath the wires right back to the windings. Luckily spotted it, because the capacitor went, before it went bang.

      Ah so I am not the only one. I was lucky as the inner wires had corroded to and were down to about 3 strands right at the stator. Thanks for the comment.

    Oh John, I completely understand. The number of times 'simple' jobs have turned into all-day slogs because the compressor packed up or the drill went wonky or something. Well, we always get there in the end. Cheers mate.

      That is easy to say but one often forgets especially with something like a slide viewer that I bought over 50 years ago and stopped using when I bought a slide projector! It not something that many would want to use in the digital image age.

    What size belt does this require I'm looking to replace one that is missing on a saw u aquired

    • @scrimperuk
      @scrimperuk  Рік тому

      The belt used on this bandsaw is a small standard Vee belt no 6 x 500. The one on my saw is made by Optibelt. they are widely available.

    Can you tell me what size blade fits this bandsaw, and where can I get them?

    • @scrimperuk
      @scrimperuk  Рік тому

      The saw takes the same size blade as the similar Burgess models that being 59 1/2".
      In the UK they are widely available in many places inc Axminster tools and Screwfix.
      Expect to pay around £9-£11 for a good quality blade. I would advise against buying the very cheap blades they often are poorly made are difficult to keep to a straight line and blunt very quickly.
      I would recommend getting a blade of approx 1/4" width or a Max of 3/8" for this saw.
