Thanks for the comment, Edward. I have been experimenting with various settings on my HD camera, and this one was to darken the background and keep the fly in a "spotlight." I will continue experimenting and hope to get the flies a little clearer when contrasted against the background. If you'd like to get a good look @ the fly, please watch the video from the 13:00 mark and on, plus click the button to make the video "Full Screen." I hope that helps, and thanks again. TC

This is an awesome pattern and as you say it should be more recognized.

Very cool, Tim! Have you ever tried swinging your nymphs? I've found it to be extremely effective and I don't lose nearly as many nymphs.

Thanks, Phil, and I typically swing wet flies and soft hackles, not nymphs. Any tips when swinging them? Tim

As an armature fisherman and beginner tier, how critical is using the exact materials when following a pattern like this? I have had great success with a fly very similar to this from my local shop, but as I am just starting out I dont have the material variety someone like you has. Would using just a synthetic BWO color dubbing work, or pheasant tail for the tail of the fly? Or is it critical to follow the "recipe" more closely?

The_Real_Wonderbread Thanks for the comments, and I actually just addressed this topic in a newer video of mine. In short, following the exact recipe is definitely unimportant, and your suggestions are spot on! The most critical component is how the fish react, thus I would suggest tying a few variations and fishing them. Continue to tie more of those that work, and you'll be on to some great patterns. Good luck, and feel free to reach out to me with other questions/comments. TC

This is a great tie. It does not show up very well because of your shirt color. Can I suggest you redo it with a different color shirt. Thanks.
