I know you uploaded these a while ago, but I wanted to say I enjoy watching all these videos. Being a 54 year old newby find your channel has really made fly tying exciting not to mention your a great teacher thanks Rick
Great video and inspiration to tie correct, in several videos you explain to back up and redo little things to make it right. Seeing a master tier make little mistakes, explain and correct them gives me confidence I can do it. I’ve been tying 6 months and used to think “good enough” but lately I redo them and they’re getting better Thank you!
that improved gallop BWO nymph, i think you mentioned it was a spring nymph.. you did use peacock ice dub on the thorax under the peacock hurl wing case i love that fly i tied a few of them and man they are great.. ow i am going to take this one on too and tie a bunch .... keep the instruction coming .. i learned a lot about tying from your discourse. @@TheSlideinn thank you Sir, I appreciate you taking the time to do these videos I have learned so much from you. I have a friend at work who's going to retire this Tuesday and his shop was burned down to the ground all his flies fly tying equipment Etc was burned so as a retirement gift I'm going to attempt to make a few dry flies for him I'm going to start with your version of the red quill old school thanks a million Sir
Love your videos and fly tying. Just one comment would be less of that beautiful background and more on you and the fly. I like to see the material you are choosing and sometimes we kind of lose that.
Great tutorial again! Your videos have really helped my tying, I can’t thank you enough! One question though, what is your opinion on UV glue on a quill or biot body? I’m just thinking it would make fly more durable.
Hiker, I don't see a problem on Quill bodies but I don't like it on biot or any other soft style bodies like PT's, but that is just me. I am sure they will fish just as well but I like the look of the natural material with out resign over it. On the other hand I like the look of the quills better with it on it, and it is way more durable. Thanks for watching. Kelly
I wouldn't recommend it as the only material for the wing. It doesn't have a flotation quality to it, its not stiff enough to hold hook above the water. If you mix it in with some CDC it would probably make a great wing!

Another great pattern. Thanks for the mention Kelly!
When Kelly goes to the barber he says give me the aunt that rides harley's cut
Kelly, another great informative video. Great job!! Great to see you again at the Idaho fly Expo.

Another great video. A simple fly, but executed so nicely. Thanks!
Kelly, I’m gonna go get a beer. And every time ya take your glasses off, I’m gonna drink 😂
As always, very informative. Thank you for posting.
Been using ice dub uv gray for the wings, gives it a nice “blue wing” touch. Thanks for the pattern
love the antler
Solid pattern. My friend said you look like Woody Harrelson in the Bank Robber. I have not seen it but he was laughing.

Just out of curiosity why not put a bead on this pattern instead of using split shot to get it down?
on the BWO Nymph instead of peacock herl can you use uv peacock eye ice dubbing
Absolutely! I use the regular peacock and the black peacock as well sometimes. It does build up bulk a little bit faster so use it sparingly.

at 14:24, you can see the apparent confusion lol, very good fly altogether, i'll have a couple of these at all times.
Best fly in my box as a std pheasant tail with the uv stuff in it. You are a different breed Kelly. Thanks a bunch man.

Would you guys recommend or not using the uv pearl ice dub as a wing for spinners?

Another #1 "Go-To fly" when "all else fails" and knows how to really "hunt". ;)
She ain't dancin'... just saying... =[
