I started my health journey 20 months ago because I received a call from my physician about my blood work indicating I would have a heart attack or stroke in 6 months without lifestyle changes. I was 480 lbs with 6.9 A1C n body fat percentage of 48.7 n on high blood pressure medication. Today, I weigh 299 lbs with 5.1 A1C n body fat percentage 26% n no longer on blood pressure medication. I feel amazing and blessed to have my health. I strength training 5 times a week and 45 minutes daily walk. I love going to the gym and how i feel after working out.
As someone who naturally had a baby after 40, I’m happy to hear that I have a good chance of making it to 90. Interestingly, my grandma had her 6th baby after 40 and she’ll turn 92 this year.
I’m a nurse and when friends, colleagues and family tell me about their pains and aches, I try to suggest lifting to them for longevity and it surprising how many ppl look at my like I’m crazy. I wish ppl understood the importance!
Hah, ironic how some of your colleagues, in the medical profession, lack this understanding.
I am a 41 y.o. female I started my fitness journey 15 months ago. I went from over 40% body fat to 23% body fat in that time. I educated myself on nutrition and exercise because I want to be healthy for the rest of my life and not just for a short time. My advice to anyone and everyone who wants to make a change is to listen to this show, get your diet in order, and follow a weight training routine ( I recommend mind pump but you do you boo)
I'm almost 40 with a toddler, and I definitely need more energy to keep up. Strength training had absolutely helped for all the times he has me picking him and carrying him around 😂
I just want to say 75 Hard changed my life. It was a big accomplishment to complete those tasks for 75 days and now 5 years later I am where I am because of doing that program. I was 49 and not in a great place and that was the jump start that changed my path to a much better one!
I started a health and fitness journey a little over a year ago. May 1st of last year is when I started. 15 days before my daughter was born. During that time I have lost over a 100lbs. I started this at 270 and I am currently at 145 and pretty soild. I am only 5'7, so I was seriously obese. I started listening to you guys about 3 months ago and I absolutely love listening to yall. I pretty much do exactly what you guys talk about and it has been so beneficial. I'd love to be able to chat with you guys sometime and pick your minds, so I can learn more. I'm 35 so I'm not getting any younger lol. Keep spreading your wisdom fellas 🙏🏾🤙🏽🙌🏽💪🏾
We did the 1000 hours outside last year with other families in our neighborhood and it was so good for our kids. But I think it’s completely dependent on the neighborhood. Our previous neighborhood had kids running around all day and we moved to a new neighborhood about 45 minutes away and we rarely see any kids outside.
Catching up on my Mindpump podcasts! You guys drop so many so fast, I LOVE IT!!!!
@paigewellness Winner! Please email: ann@mindpumpmedia.com with a screenshot of your youtube username, winning episode number, and the email address you would like the program under and we will get you hooked up!
I don’t like the show, I love the show! I can’t go a day without hearing your advice.
You’re an amazing group, I love the pod!
Thank you guys! I have been listening consistently for a couple months now and you’ve helped me focus less on the scale and more on how the workouts make me feel and how I’m getting stronger as I progress.
Mind Pump is the best! Episodes like this one are such good reminders of why we keep up these habits. Love the encouragement and inspiration…. and, of course, the entertainment. Keep it up guys! It helps!
Number blocks is great! I am a teacher and use it regularly in the classroom to supplement instruction. There is another one called alpha blocks as well teaching letter sounds and phonetics.
I just started watching your videos and I am absolutely fascinated by the info you're sharing, and it's making me hopeful that I can get healthier and stronger (aka get healtier by being stronger). Thank you for sharing!
I've been dropping weight this year. Tore my pec last July and this January decided there was no reason to weigh 234lbs when I wasn't going to be benching anything heavy for a while anyway. Found you guys around that time and have consumed all the videos on your channel. I've been working out for over 15 years but alot of the info you guys put out is game changing. When it comes to my diet now, I eat shitloads of Greek yogurt every week and believe it's changed my gut health tremendously. I eat high protein mostly from beef and chicken, I eat sweet potatoes often, and the weight has peeled off me. Down from 234lbs January 3rd, to 205lbs today. Haven't been this light in about 8 years now. I feel great, and MindPump has played a big part in re instilling things I knew but hadn't practiced in a while, as well teaching me some of the new research that has come out the past decade that I hadn't heard about. Great stuff. Thanks guys.
Thanks for all you guys do, I’ve learned so much in such a short time! Appreciate it fellas 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I'm 56 and just starting with strength training, I've spent several decades under the "ton of cardio and low calories", which has caused me to yo-yo diet and lose/gain weight. For me it's no longer about getting skinny it's for my health and physical longevity. Love your show, I'm learning a lot from all of you.
Thank you guys for enlightening me about the superpowers of muscle.
I am giving it a try it's been about 3 months and I'm starting to see the difference in terms of metabolism increasing.
Will update you in the next few months when I see more results.
Love you guys! Thank you for all the learnings and musings. 💕
I really relate to Question 3, I've been focusing on the glutes lately but need more tips to progress. Thanks for the advice!
Thank you for everything you do! I learn more and more everyday.
My son(now 8y old)found numberblocks on YT-kids on his own (at the age of six) and learned math in english (we are Swedish) and applied it to the math he learned in school. And me and the mrs love that show
Great show, guys. Thanks for keeping up the hard work!
Number blocks is the reason my son is ahead of his class in math!
I struggle with a myriad of issues, but you guys have this way of making me feel like I can just break things up into small simple strategies and I can get through anything. I sometimes wish I had you holding my hand to ensure my success, but never the less I just keep trying to move in the right direction. Thanks guys!
What a wealth of great information thank you guys for everything you do
Love your conversations. I am in healthcare and physicians/nurses get the minimal nutritional training and def not geared toward health and wellness. I learned more from my own personal study. Thank you for what you do. I am working on putting on muscle and following your program.
Im a new subscriber!!! Thank you guys for everything you do. Ive watched so many videos, trying to put the puzzle pieces together. It was cool to watch the videos from about 7 years go over the MAPS programs- and seeing where you guys are now. I have had a lot of struggle since 2021. I lost a lot of weight during covid in an unhealthy way Looking back on those photos now, I was so shredded but at the time, I didnt see myself as good enough. I understand my own psychology plays into this, it's a work in progress. but it causes me to have a really bad association towards losing body fat and feeling like it has to happen for me under extreme measure for me given that im 4'11. Since then, I have gained over 10lbs(some muscle), thing are getting better but It would mean the world to me to get to ask a question to you guys on where to go from where Im at now which is currently reverse dieting trying to repair my metabolism as much as possible, and honestly just have more peace. I feel like I wont be happy with my body unless it's through extreme measures I dont want that for me, my clients, or my future daughter if im so lucky..... I understand how I feel about myself may become her inner dialogue. Im also a fitness coach working in a company preaching sustainability. I do feel like I need guidance at this point. Thank you so much for everything you guys do. No matter what you have a lifelong fan. :)
Great podcasts as always quite stimulating ......Barbados 🇧🇧
Hi! 👋🏻 I'd love to win the maps program. You guys are great, appreciate you all making these episodes. I've learned so much!
Over training sucks but is so hard not to do. Luckily I have your podcast to keep my focus on the real goal..building muscle 🎉❤
My best bench press was about 4 years ago, I hit 294.5 lbs ….on an earthquake bar 💪🏼
The movie reference regarding people throwing up was “The Sandlot”!!!!
My daughter is 8 and I recently participated in a field day at her school. Watching the kids try to do the relay races was a little sad, 10 minutes and most the kids were on the ground, some were crying. There is a serious problem with the lack of activity kids perform these days. When I was 8 we were already starting 2 a days in full pads during summer break and running through the woods and climbing trees the time between practices.
That awkward pause at 56:11 was hilarious 😂
23:35
Sal to Adam: “If anything you look healthier” (hoping he continues to get smaller)
Adam to Sal: “Yes that’s how I feel”
Sal thinking: “Yes 😈”
😂 genius
My advice is stay active everyday, walking, stay away from your fridge and fast food, drink water more often than soda, build muscle.
I stopped leaving my house and no longer workout at home since covid and penalties for leaving the house unjustified i gained 40 kg. Today, it's hard to remove habits.
Great advice- now follow it!! Summer is around the corner. Start walking! Kilo by kilo the weight will start to move. Think about fitting into your old clothes and how you felt about yourself then vs now. The vast majority gained a ton of weight during the pandemic and that’s okay. The whole world flipped upside down. Try to get back on track- it sounds like you’re ready !
Adam is awesome in how he doesn't fear sharing private stuff about his life. His wife "size shaming" him is hilarious. 😂
It's funny how women always seem to want to fatten us up. An ex GF of mine constantly wanted me to eat cookies she baked, pizza, etc..
These talks are great . Glad I can be a fly on the wall 😂
I'd love a mindpump shirt but $35 is crazy lol. Like, we'd be advertising the company. Make them cheap.
I moved to spiritlake Iowa and i swear this little town is 30 years in the past.
The way I do my chaos with a barbell is with three products, one is from Titan and they are pulling blocks, it just looks like an upside-down T that goes over the loading pin, I also have these straps you use with carabiners from GripGenie for plates with handles and the incredible UClips to hang dumbells along side. Zercher lifts like that with chains is TOP SHELF
This podcast and everything they say is so redundant. We get it.
I would rarely make my protein goal with my shakes. 🤷🏽♂️
Absolutely ❤
You guys would love the movie Midway. Mind blowing true story of the battle with the Japanese after Pearl Harbor attack. Crazy intel and the grit and bravery of the pilots was astonishing. One of the best movies I’ve ever watched. Incredible piece of history.
Childhood obesity and diabetes is correlated to increase sugar intake.
Love u all🖤
Use hanging band technique to imitate the tsunami bar/chaos press! 🤓💪
1:18:00 i absolutely love this tool! I use it at least once a week
Can anyone tell me how to determine if I’m over training or not? I’m constantly fatigued due to being hypothyroid and working long hours so I can’t really gauge it by that. Are there are other signs besides constant muscle soreness as was mentioned in this episode.
La sociedad está cambiando a volverse más sedentaria y como ustedes señalam nuestros hijos están acarreando más problemas de salud por esa misma razón.
I love you guys
Wouldn't Old Time be a good one for the dancer question!? Isn't that a lot of unilateral lifting overhead?
You guys could do a be strong children’s book series with the characters being school age or preteen and the moral of each story is to be strong whether that is physical strength or character, strength or both!
Saw a friend from HS at the gym. Turned out he was doing 75 hard. Never saw him after he was done.
Medicate is more prominent now but certainly has individual preferences too. My Boomer Dad would rather take a pill or be in pain for his bursitis rather than even do basic stretches to alleviate pain and be more preventative.
I don’t if in the states, but a way to find out who was cooler or better in Puerto Rico as kids it was racing/sprinting
I need help PLEASE. I don’t know which program to buy. I am torn between maps 15 and beginner. I want 15 because it’s 15 minutes a day, at home. I am only able to make it to the gym on Sunday and Monday. However, although I’ve lifted over the years and know what I am doing while lifting, I lack knowledge on a lot of the basics. Also, I have only just started working out again in the past 4-6 months, progressively becoming more disciplined getting it done. (Still could use work on that though) I feel like I should do beginner but my daughter feels like I know “enough”. I am 58 with menopause belly. My arms are becoming more defined but I’m not shedding the fat. I have many clean habits but nutrition definitely needs work because I get weak.My concerns with 15 is it will be too hard for me (yet I need shorter workouts) my concerns with the beginner is that they will be too long. (Haven’t seen anything on how long they are). Can you please direct me on which route to take. If I get started and “feel” as though I can’t do something, I tend to give up. Please help.
I had my 6th baby at the age of 40 💪🏼
thanks for the shout out BUFFALO, NY❤❤ bbbbut yea nooooo lol at least we have child blue which sets up homeless shelters for ppl during severe weather and winter months😢
Yes Adam it’s crazy how skewed your views are. We also have half the neighborhood kids in our yard and all the parents seem to do walks around the neighborhood. Then again we don’t live in the city setting so that may be the case.
Another reason for declining metabolism could be aging. The US median age increased and along with it definitely reduced metabolism, yet the calory intake is the same.
U r all say all true 😊
Does anyone know what pants Adam is wearing?
I'm 37 yeara old, and im stuck in a pretty awful situation with my current body image and my relationship to workout and food. No matter what i do, i haven't been able to lose the 10kg of weight (mostly fat) which i have gained very rapidly out of no where. To cut it short, i really need your input on the diet im thinking of starting. It involves a toral of 93g of protein (all from natural source) and no grains as i feel thay quitting them may help with relief iny early hypothyroid symptoms - a total of 1200 calories approx, daily. Im want to reverse doet as my calorie intake have been pretty low for the longest time, and also very inconsistent . So ill start with this 1200 diet and increase 100 cal per week. Since this is the first time im starting reverse dieting and i feel like i struggle with understanding the concept fully, i want to know from you guys if this is the right approach and strategy? If not, then what do you suggest. Would really appreciate your response.
If you feel totally lost or aren't getting the results you want, it may be time to visit a medical weight loss clinic run by a competent doctor who specializes in integrative medicine and body recomposition. The doctor will guide you. And the cost will be less than the list of degenerative diseases that you'll avoid in the long run.
@@aperfectcircle008 I've never heard of a thing like weightloss clinic before. Also, im not obese or fat, I feel I just need to understand how to push the stuck body weight towards shredding and losing.
I am trying to build 💪💪🏋️🏋️🏋️ but it is hard because I can’t afford a trainer..
There’s also one called Alphablocks. That’s good for those people who have children with delayed speech …. It’s a BBC programme same as Numberblocks
Definitely noticeable that there are more bigger people, kids and adults. I also believe that people are eating a lot more fast foods. Parents don't have a lot of time to make food from scratch. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
So glad my son refused my offers to drive him to high school half a mile down the road. Had I known then what I know now. 😂😂
Forget being a fitness fanatic, what do you do when you become a MindPump fanatic 😅😬
This conversation about obesity reminds me of the movie Wall-E. That is the direction we're heading...
I get where Justin is coming from about kids playing football, but I'm still never gonna let my son play. It's crazy to me that kids are getting ACL surgery, and concussions before they can drive all because the adults in their life want them to "be tough." I get there's a risk of injury in every sport, and I'm sure I will get a bunch of comments talking about "how I never got hurt blah blah blah" cool story, don't care.
0:35 yes, but that's not the end of the story. Less muscle due to change in macronutrient make up of the same MASS of food (you can't consume calories, still), increased amount of ultraprocessed, shelf-stable, plant based slop, increased consumption of seed oils causing inflammation and reducing structure healing abilities of the human body
03:18 that would contradict another belief of yours, which is: you can NOT outexercise a bad diet - this is correct
How might someone who easily builds their glutes but not legs train their quads?
💪🏿💪🏿
SPEAK KOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACK JUSTIN!!! #ProSports
It’s processed foods and seed oils.
Hi, can you guys talk about the acne drug that chemically castrates young men and induces psychosis and suicide both during and post treatment.
Struggling with all this....I'm 48 been working out a while just done a 6 week, push, pull, leg workout. Have seen alot of strength gains but can't lose any weight or look like I'm losing weight! Help me guys, feel like I need to just eat grass or kill myself with workouts to lose any inches!!
When you're lost, you absolutely need personalized guidance. And that's going to cost money. Either a personal trainer/dietitian who'll work with you or a doctor who specializes in medical weight loss and body recomp. Or both. Look for local services if they're available. Some medical weight loss clinics can offer telemedicine if you don't live nearby. The cost of treatment will surely be less than the long-term cost of medical care for multiple degenerative diseases of poor health. Your choice in the end.
It's the year 2024 so it is time to accept that around 20% of Americans are interested to care about nutrition and exercise.
There is under 10% chance imo that's an obese person will change. They "went sedentary" probably sometime around 8-15 and put out the fire of interest in movement. So they quit more than it looks on the surface.
if i was 205 i'd be very very big, and i'm 5'11"

The only thing needed to get in shape is ‘discipline’.
Until your hormones start failing you. Then you're going to need bloodwork and lots of syringes.
Boom
Just cough into the mic the entire show. Don't stop or turn away from the mic. Just keep doing it
Isn't it interesting that every time we solve what we consider problems we create more? I mean air conditioners are great and all but we need to sweat if we want to purify certain Metals out of our bodies just like having cars are great but we need to get back to walking and carrying and having that time to process and I say that because anytime I go hiking or jogging or rucking all I bring is my keys and I don't need music or anything. If my forefathers could do it, I can do it
02:14 no, no calories, still
When you’re too early in the comment section 🧍♂️
Duckin wreck? I appear as such
It's easy to get ripped on peptides no discipline involved there
not much tradesmen coming up for these youngns. nowadays
3:55 Nah, there's no way I beleive that isnt just a propaganda video. XD
You're possibly not eating more but people are definitely drinking more of their calories. The average Starbucks is 700 calories most of the people that I know and associate with on a day-to-day basis go out for two coffee or lattes a day. Right there is a full calorie intake for a woman everyday. Not to mention that we eat out at a far greater rate than we used to which is a calorie cow, so there is no possible way that those studies are accurate. I don't disagree with you in that it is absolutely a lack of muscle problem as well but I don't think you're changing the obesity rate by sending people to the gym and not changing their diets drastically. I know I didn't get fat because I was eating so little but was a huge wimp, I got fat because I was eating out everyday for lunch at 1800 calories, then going home and having 2,000 calories for dinner and then drinking 2000 calories of booze in between. Eating more calories to build muscle wouldn't have solved my issues.
I cant believe u guys advocate that short term solution wonder what happens when adam goes off
I lift Im still fat😞
Love y’all. Why are y’all so head the sand about the food industry? It’s an evil industry. Are you sponsored by them?
