Sorry for this being a terribly short video after ages of not uploading...
Most modchip detection methods on the PSX exploit the fact that the normal modchip is incapable of shutting off even after gameplay has started, and constantly injects the false disk wobble data into the CPU... which on an unmodified console is impossible, as the PSX's disk drive reader is not capable of detecting a wobble (Used to verify disk legitimacy and region info) once gameplay has started.
So at various points, the game will exploit this by asking the console to retrieve the game's wobble data, expecting a complete failure. If nothing comes up, gameplay continues normally. But a non-stealth modchip will return a valid set of wobble data, which will alert the game to the console being modified and make it terminate itself with the error message.
Nowadays, however, stealth modchips are very commonplace, and emulators are capable of bypassing the checks undetected. So these methods don't work often times anymore.
PSXfin emulator still triggers these errors.
This is probably the only real anti-piracy screen to ever exist.
there's tons of games with anti-piracy, look up "tcrf anti piracy category"
GTA 4 also has one. But instead of just saying "get the fuck out of here with your pirated shit" it will let you play normally but eventually you get effects like Dizziness, Drunk, etc effects that literally make the game unplayable.
@@Cerise__ It’s an anti piracy measure but I see what you’re trying to say
Puggsy
There exists more on SNES/SFC games but yeah real anti-piracy screens are becoming scarce lmao
I wonder if anyone ever called the number after installing the modchip. "Do you know how much I paid for this modchip and how much I went through to install it?!!! I had to learn to solder!!!! 😡😡😡"
Yep you have to explain to them you had to take 98 octillion years of Electrical school
Sony would explain how to remove it without soldering
Its sobering finding this.
UA-cam has been oversaturated by the shitty fanmade anti-piracy screen fad.
I had to look for 20 minutes to find the real PS1 anti-piracy screen, its insane.
Fr man
True
The fact that it has no sound and that its more quieter than silence makes it more creepier especially since its on a black background
Spyro 3's simplest crack protection has this exact error screen.
Ah, the classic "pSX" emulator in use again..
ePSXe doesn't work to play PSX games
such a horrifying screen
Theres a lot more where that came from! Haha.... ahah....heh...
.....
KILL MEEEEE
Indeed
are you afraid of signs
oooooooo 🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫 ooooooo
Fr it looks like your PSX won't work ever again
The jpn warning text is not glitchy. It has rough edges.
The way anti mod games work, is the disc looks for the mod chip code being constantly pumped into the machine even after the game boots. Stealth chips get around this by injecting the fake code at start up and then shutting themselves off before the game has time to look for the code.
this is probably the creepiest anti piracy screen there is
True
@@japhreal it just tells you to turn yourself into the sony piracy center by calling the number
Nah. PS2's Red Screen is worse imho
@@AirknightTails i somewhat agree with this, it has that sound which really sets me off personally. however, the psx anti-piracy has this direct, black screen error with no sound; its almost like you can hear the silence.
@@nikoisinsane I can understand that :)
I'm confused. Did the console just delete the software? Or did it just found out about the modship and says "Nah, can't play that". It would really suck if the modchip damages your console. I never had a modchip and thats why I'm asking
@@iopco772 What if you remove the chip and reverse engineer the chip to remove all of the extra code? Will it still be disabled then?
Just won’t run it
Some games of course have further protection should a stealth modchip be used like the 3rd spyro game
Are you talking about the backup anti-piracy method where eggs would be taken away from your egg count and would crash for any reason?
@@CyberdustStudios The very same one and if I recall that one also had another one where if you got to the final boss like in the earthbound anti piracy measure it would crash and delete your save too
This screen is actually terrifying, oh my god-
I have seen this particular screen twice in my life. The first was with Medievil 2. I thought it was some sort of disk error, cause it popped up only when I was about to start the stage "Whitechapel". Hell, I could use the cheat menu to bypass the stage entirely and continue playing the game (until I hit the final boss, where it would pop up again).
The second time was when my Grandma bought my Spyro 3. After I booted it up and the Insomniac sign was presented, the animation for the ninja rhynoc started playing, before it would smash cut to the error screen. It was then that I realized it was NOT a disk issue.
I don't think it's a thing for all games, as I had played and completed a variety of games on that console before it crapped out on my entirely and we had to replace it, but it certainly made me wonder exactly which games had this "SOFTWARE TERMINATED" error screen.
An 100% real anti-piracy screen
I wonder what happens if you call that number today.
A woman says that theres no staff.
@@wassey5066 The pirates had a revolution . OH NO
So I actually did call it. It’s just the PlayStation Customer support hotline
@@DanielRamos-qv1pc i wonder if playstation still help diagnose and fix issues with the PS1
@@ThomasFarquhar2 Officially, no. Support ended 2006.
The song in the begin:
Me: wow,good song :)
The song in 0:38:

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. presents:
*S T O P*
the startup sound sounds f&@%ed up
Why are people making strange trends of anti piracy videos based off this one?
Any chance you'd try ePSXe? I'm not fond of the psxfin and how it can't emulate the boot up correctly. ._.
@@iopco772 hecc
That must've what have happened when i put my japanese copy of JoJo Heritage into it then
aocodes Well it's on the GBA to.
燃える剣 oh, i thought the ps1 version was a port
why blank discs or games from other game consoles cannot get this anti modchip screen
@@iopco772 what happens when you put a Genuine NTSCJ game implemented with this protections (ie. Dino Crisis 1)on a NTSCU Modchipped console? I mean will I get this error too?
@@iopco772 I'm looking forward to buy the genuine japanese dino crisis disc so I can test this scenario. But what kind of modchip should I have to bypass this scenario if this issue happens?
@@iopco772 a game that has a very odd place for the trigger is Nekketsu Seisyun Nikki 2 (Rival School JP exclusive update) it always happened to me in one of the extras, and never knew why at the time, funny enough, it was on a psone that never had any problems with either Dino Crisis (both pal and NTSC) or Resident Evil 3, and I know they weren't patched because a 9001 I got a few years ago has a old dumb chip that triggers them on the same disc's, hell the new ps1 doesn't even boot silvers
0:34 I have to wonder, what happened if you called that number back in the day? Did an angry representative at Sony say "Alright stay where you are, we've contacted the police, the FBI, the CIA and the Army on you!!"
They instructed you how to remove the chip
@@WinxAliNelCielo Would they? I kinda assumed they wouldn't actually try to get people to do their own DIY repairs on their consoles. Especially if the instructions were over the phone.
@@LtheOriginal they did in fact do that
@@WinxAliNelCielo sounds like a really dumb idea that'll break more consoles than fix them tbh. But eh, it was the 90's.
Try calling the number that shows up and make a video about what happens
as ps1 is decades old the number is probably gone tbh
@@asd98b I won't be surprised if it's still in use by Sony America customer support in any way
0:11 is scary
Ngl recently i was playing on my sister's jailbroken PS3 i got so fucking scared when the game started to have static and black screens so i literally just turned off the PS3 by getting the thing out (i meant the PS3's thing where you plug in in the white things, i'm not very good at english so i don't know what those things are, i'm portuguese and i call that white thing "Tomada", if you know the translation to english you will know what i meant, so i did that because the PS3 doesn't turn off, The turn PS3 off button does not work, When i try to turn off it turns back on, There is something wrong into the thing that you plug the PS3 on the TV, my sister said, She also said if the static appears too much i have to turn off the PS3 so i did that.) (Sorry for the LONG ASS yapping/comment)
i'm brazilian, it means "outlet" for those who don't know
What was the phone number for?
hey if you want some REALLY scary stuff just see the error screen of baldis basics kickstarter demo
Is there anything similar to this for the ps2?
r
This can show up while playing PS1 games on PS2
This is why I don’t buy disks or anything I only buy stuff from the Consoles video game store
Wait wait if that happen and you get this screen still would it actually delete the game
That's all fine and good until you remember the PS1 doesn't even have a hard drive
That’s the PS1 not the PSX
Yeah
PSX was the codename of the PS1, nothing to do with that 2003 digital video recorder...
ya lo solucione solo hay q parchar el juegos ez
