I agree! Cerave Hydrating cleanser causes closed comedones so badly on my skin. It feels like washing your face with conditioner and doesn’t properly cleanse your skin.

oh boy your entire journey is so similar to mine its crazy. Tretinoin causes me soo much purging for 4 months that i had to stop it. But when i stopped it my skin cleared up. Not long tho, 2 months later it was a CC heaven again. Recently tho I've finally discovered that it's not over moisturising your skin that causes my CC's but over application. Toners, cleaners even are fine - it's the thick moisturisers or heavy occlusives that are the issue (im still hesitant about silicones atm). Gel based moisturisers are doing wonders for me in comparison, but i also find that thick moisturisers are fine but as long as you are particular about applying a small amount. Maybe this is something that will help you in the prevention of CCs in the future, I don't feel like its mentioned enough that non comedogenic products can be comedogenic if you are too generous with application.

Please could you share which products have helped you KaiTSANGASONG? I don't know which moisturiser to try anymore, everything seems to not hydrate enough or clog my pores.

    • @kaiitsang
      @kaiitsang 4 роки тому +9

@@veggiesaurus5834 Hey there! Products are very personal to your skin type and concerns but I'll share some products/advice for your issue but everyones mileage will vary! Keep that in mind :)
First of all, theres a few ways you can go about hydration without clogging. 1) Focus your hydration with lighter layers earlier in your skincare routine before moisturiser, this can be in the form of toners, essences, ampoules, serums. Focus on ingredients that are moisturising, healing, nourishing here: hyaluronic acid, glycerin, aloe vera, snail mucin, propolis etc. Adding these layers beforehand helps to hydrate while allowing your moisturiser to be lighter in texture (preferably gel to gel-cream) for clog prone skin.
      2) Theres a few things you can pay attention to: 1)Switch out your moisturisers while paying attention to cleansing. 2) seperate your moisturisers into AM/PM 3) monitor how much you apply
      1) Make sure you have a solid but NOT stripping cleansing routine, I recommend morning and night - some say morning cleanse is not necessary but especially for clog prone skin - we cannot risk any blockages in our pores. I personally dont recommend oil cleansing for this skin type - unless you are damn sure you can emulsify the oil and double cleanse afterwards... but i would just stick to a micellar water as a first cleanse and disregard oil altogether. Hydrating Gentle Cleansers as a second step will do you wonders for maintaining a good cleansing routine. Products: Vanicream Gentle Cleanser, CeraVe Hydrating, La Roche Posay Gentle Cleanser etc.
      2) Sometimes more nourishing occlusive moisturisers can actually be used.. just not ALL the time. I find that if you use a rich moisturiser day and night, we are bound to clog. Try alternative a gel moisturiser for AM and a richer one for night time. I personally find that a richer one every 3 days is a good period for me in order to maintain hydration and moisture. Light gels: Neutrogena Hydro Boost, Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel. Thicker ones: Paulas Choice Omega Rich, CeraVe Facial Cream.
      3) A lot of the times moisturiser becomes clogging even when they are labeled non-comedogenic because you apply more than necessary. Applying just a dime size is enough, but if you find that its not enough, apply a small layer, leave it for 15m and go and check up close to your skin. See what areas of your skin demand more moisturiser and apply only to them areas. This way you assess certain areas of your skin without over-moisturising (which is a thing!).
Lastly, if you struggle with clogging - include a treatment that targets that issue! Salicylic Acid is a great ingredient for declogging as it is oil soluble and can really get into your pores and clear it out. Salicylic is a BHA acid. AHA acids such as lactic and glycolic are great are resurfacing the dead skin cells on your outer layers of your skin. Although they do not help clear the pores out as they aren't oil soluble but they are beneficial for congestion on the outer surface. If you are wanting more of a prescription level, differin (adapalene) is a great ingredient for clearing congested skin too.
I hope this helps! Again, skincare is super personal to each individual, but its useful to learn what you are applying to your skin :)
edit: I would also disregard oils in your daily moisturisers too if you are super clog-prone. Squalane oil is a common oil that is nourishing that is already present in our skin so a lot of people can handle this oil without clogging but I can only handle it if it's not too high in my moisturisers ingredients.

@@kaiitsang My goodness, thank you so much for taking the time to share all of that! You are so kind. I currently use garnier micellar water to remove makeup (I only wear it 3 x week) followed by vanicream cleanser, I just got through a tube of eucerin urea day cream but I am unsure if it's giving me more bumps or not.
It is hard for me to tell whether it is making it worse as I literally have bumps all ove rmy forehead, cheeks and chin :(
I have actually just ordered the hada labo perfect gel from Japan which I have heard is the equivalent to the plumping gel is that correct? I am in the uk so finding the correct formula here is hard, the tokyo plumping gel has an extra preservative that can break some people out or so I have heard.Hoping it will arrive in the next few weeks.
Would you recommend I add in cosrx snail mucin or something like that? I have very dry skin and live in a dry humidity climate so I get a bit confused whether hylaronic is good or not in this case. I have also heard the hada labo gokujun PREMIUM hylaronic lotion is good? so I am torn between the two to add in with the perfect hada labo gel.
And lastly, any SPF sunscreen recommendations for clog prone skin please? Totally appreciate YMMV but I don't know where to begin! Currently looking into EVY. Thank you!

Have you tried salicylic acid? if not, try the Paulas choice 2% liquid exfoliant .. it will make the closed comedones purge in the areas you normally get them but after the purge is done - it should calm your skin down. Another thing I would suggest is oil cleansing! Does wonders for your skin

On my own experirnced on using astringent like maxi peel was si dangerous to a open pores sensitive skin( oily skin) because it has hydroquine that usually open more your pores. All sebum will come out that can cause more pimples. It should be used a night cream ang sunblock. That product is not recomended because it has prickly burned sensation or feelings that is can irritated to skin.

I loooooved your vid! At 35 y.o. I am experiencing my first comadonal acne, which I hate. You have encouraged me to take the next step to my skincare. After all this journey, was it the Tretinoid that really did the job? I am considering at first of trying out azelaic acid topically on my countable comedones. FYI comedonal acne was the result of the Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum!!!! I never expected that, but lots of articles claim that antioxidants like vitamin c can cause the skin to break out! I was so so sad, cause I loved this product because it really had lighten up my skin SO much.

      Same problem here.
I am 35, I just under went surgery for fibroids that were messing up my hormones, digestive system and weight, and I'm getting sudden comedonal acne never experienced before in my life.
I'm 2 weeks into using a light chemical exfoliant/facial twice a week that has Lactic acid, Mandelic acid and Malic acid as active ingredients. My skin is purging now on the cheeks and sideburns, but otherwise looks fairly healthy, with a tone and texture that are slowly evening out.
I'm hoping to see the freckles-like PIH on my cheeks and jawline disappear some time soon, because it draws a lot of attention away from my facial features. In the meantime, I've started to put on foundation to make myself look not too shockingly repulsive, lol!
      All the best!

It looks like you have fungal acne but you should speak to a dermatologist

      She most definitely has both.
She clearly has comedones based on the tiny skin-like whiteheads on her face, that aren’t only restricted mainly to her forehead.
She also has clusters, but she could also be suffering from fungal ache, it isn’t uncommon to have both.
