- Hello everyone. I thought I'd share what I curated and would carry with me to fountain pen shows or meet ups to have the best experience with my fountain pens and inks! I just started carrying an ink kit with me to pen club, mostly to share my ink bottles!! The q-tips, the towel, and of course the collapsible cup are all great ideas!! I need to add those 🫶

Great Video! For your platinum, since the bulb syringe doesn’t fit, you can look into Schon Dsgn’s Luer syringe cleaning system. He has a platinum adapter. I love it over the bulb syringe. I also may need a platinum one.
@@gizmogeek23 Thank you, Lucas! 🥰 and I’ll take a look at Schon Dsgn’s syringe. I heard of that once but I forgot to take a look at them, that’ll solve my cleaning issues with my platinum pens. Thankfully, platinum converters are smooth and make cleaning easier than Sailors and Pilots c/c pens. Adding it to my list to buy!
Thanks for the tips on items to carry. I have the Dallas Pen Sow coming up next weekend. I do have an unused Hobonichi drawer pouch, small and medium Delphonics pouches, and considering my Galen Leather Medic Bag. I think a designated short water bottle that you can cap would be a great item to add in case you aren’t able to dump the dirty water right away.

Also hope you have tons of fun at the Dallas pen show if you're going! :) You'll be ready and equipped for any pen emergencies and pen fun with pen people/friends :) A galen medic bag sounds really lovely. Are those kind of big? I must go check them out!

Update: I just wanted to let you know that this video helped me help out a few new penfriends I met at Pelican Hub Event that I attended yesterday!
While at the event, someone asked if anyone had a pen repair kit. And because of this video; I was able to have my brass shims with me, and helped two new penfriends work on their pens...
I brought home 3 samples of Birmingham ink to try, plus the new Golden Lampis ink (I also won 2 bottles and now I own 3 full bottles and don't know what to do with it) and I had a terrific time at my event...
I hope you were able to get to a Hub event this weekend...

Those are all great things to have in a kit! Another useful thing might be an index card listing the nib sizes of major brands (e.g., EF 0.3, B 0.8), and quick descriptions of specialty grinds, so people have an idea of what they're getting and aren't unhappily surprised after purchasing a pen or having one custom-ground. As an artist, I'd prefer to carry paintbrushes instead of Q-tips for swatching. Paintbrushes come in different sizes just like nibs!
By the way, I ordered the Wearingeul Atlas ink you recommended, and it'll probably arrive in a day or two. Do you mind if I mention in my unboxing video that I heard about it from you?
Thanks for that suggestion, Ursula! I love it and I will create small cards of all my fountain pen brands and the nib sizes I have as references! I love when someone creates a on the go kit thank you for sharing this video I love your collection and also thank you for mentioning the comment about no tolerance for hate. I'm about to create my own pen channel soon and although I've tried many times in the past and have been Bombarded by trolls, I must give it another go , people can be cruel. Hi Danny! Thanks for watching and commenting on my new video ^_^ I have dealt with my share of trolls and difficult comments. Some of them are just harsh disagreements that do encourage me to open myself to conversations and differing views. Other comments have just been plain rude. But I have learned and built up a bit of thick skin to perceive these comments from the best possible situation rather than the worse case scenario. Most of the time people just say what comes to their mind without thinking about how to convey what they want to say in a positive or neutral way, so it's up to me to interpret what's being said without letting it affect me too much. It's a skill that we content creators must develop as we put ourselves out to the world! :) And remember you cannot please everyone. Let trolls be trolls - we just keep moving on doing what we love. But making new friends and acquaintences have been worth all the skills required to get through the tough YouTubing times haha! Collapsible cup twinning! ❤ mine is dark green though! Haha! Adding swatch cards and labels on my kit. The timing of this video is just perfect as I am preparing for my first Pelikan Hub event!
YES!!! CC Twins! :D I wished they had like a teal, perhaps...but y'know..it's just a silicon cup haha! Grey is a very neutral color and won't attract much attention haha. But a dark green sounds amazing! Have an amazingly fun time at your Pelikan Hub! I'm glad I made this in time for everyone who is going xD definitely is a place to bring this kit to!

Great thoughts on this Lao. My bulb syringe was invaluable at the SF Pen show because I wanted to thoroughly clean my pens after they had had nib grinds and multiple dips by the nibmeisters. Thanks for the ink swatching ideas! I’ll be ready when I go the Pelikan hub this Friday. Keep well.

Lao, good video hope you are well. Just went to an sf pen posse gathering today. Tried a mb 149 that was Urichi lacquered. It was the bomb. I have a similar kit that I bring but in a talenti plastic gelato jar. I do include the rubber gripper that i use to remove nibs. I do like your collapsible cup. I wish there was another pen show close by. I will probably have to wait till next feb.
Hey there, Alex!! :D Thanks for stopping by to watch this video. I forgot to add my rubber grip, only realized after I went online to add links to everything I bought and remembered how useful the rubber grip I have is! It's great for opening difficult ink bottles and removing nib/feed units if you're super careful (I haven't tried that yet lol). When you said Talenti Gelato jar, I was like...talenti...talenti...I've heard that before - I'm sure I've had the mango gelato from that brand! LOL, but that's such a nifty way to reuse that awesome jar! :D Thank you for sharing your kit - Are you going to the CA pen show in February? If I can make enough money to save - I might go to that one, too. Hope to see you again soon at another pen show ^_^
Great kit! I need to make mine, very new to the hobby still...got like one Kakuno and that's it haha no inks yet. As for the Platinum, could you use their adapter for standard international c/c and then the bulb syringe maybe?? I saw the other day that they sell it so, i don't know, maybe it'll work?

Interesting about the Benu. I have a pile of Benu's and have never needed to tune them Of course, they are (almost) all M's and B's. YRMV

This was very practical - not just for traveling but for making a „pen maintenance box“ at home. I just cleaned out two platinums today with a bulb syringe- do you mean the syringe nozzle is too small? I just cut a bit off of mine and the „opening“ is now bigger and works perfectly for Platinum as well ☺️
♥Thanks, Mrs Alchemist! :D Indeed, I want this space and platform of mine to welcome positive adventures and experiences. I'm glad this was a helpful video for practical use of a kit at home, too! I'm usually a home-person when using my pens, so I wanted it to be effective for all situations! I have heard that people open up their bulb syringe a bit to fit the larger feeder hole of the platinum pens, I was just afraid it might be too big for the other pens and water will gush out of the nib and towards me if the bulb isn't a perfect tight fit haha. But if your bulb does its job efficiently now on all pens, then I shall have to try that, too! Thanks for the suggestion!

Ah xD that's what I was missing! I ordered a tiny notebook, slightly smaller than a field notes book, from Endlesspens with the Sailor Scones in pre-order, so they're holding my notebook hostage until the pre-order arrives! So that's why I didn't have my small notebook haha. That is a nice pouch for pen accessories. Maybe it is a good idea to carry some pen flush in one of those vials in case you need to clean a pen with a stubborn ink in it.
