YES this is the best belated Christmas/birthday gift I've got this year, I hate randomly assigning dwarves to tasks or just relying on their known skills, I want to know what they like/need, it's much more important IMO specially when you try to tell a story. I'll finally be able to accurately choose some scholars for my library, and military and ... Life is good !
I missed the Therapist so much since release. Thanks for showcasing this to the refreshed playerbase; personally I think it adds a lot to playability and makes everything smoother, especially for them OCDs :P
I spent 2 years after catching and training a pair of Giant Eagles to try and breed them only to figure that the female was gay/asexual and butcher her. With Therapist i wont have to face that annoyance.
@@beowylfen yes, they are, which makes figuring out if they are asexual/gay or if your animal trainers perhaps disturbed them during nesting while you werent looking all the more of a headache
i hate to be 'that guy' but there needs to be an option/mod to stop this kind of thing and just make the animals form breeding pairs ither by default or setting a new task for dwarves to make it work somehow
Yes! Finally! I was waiting for DT so I could really engage with the game. Played Steam version for 10 hours just to check it out and not burn myself out. This was the thing I missed the most while playing it, I don't think I can put myself to playing the game without DT anymore.
It's definitely easier to manage the dwarves in game now, but I still miss a migrant wave every now and then and it's still a pain in the ass to figure out where you're underutilizing your dwarves based on their skills. The game should just come default with all the labors already set up instead of having to make one for each skill.
This is awesome. The worst part of the game for me was trying to get an overview of your dwarves or livestock without going in and out of a million menus
I'm a relatively new player to DF, but I love this sort of data analytics for optimization. After playing the tutorial, one of the first things I did for my first real settlers was to spend several hours looking at the wiki and creating a spreadsheet that helped me decide what starting skills would be most suitable to the dwarves I was given, based on their starting attributes. DT looks super useful, but I wonder if it also gives you meaningful information about your starting dwarves' stats before you finalize them for your first embark, so that you can make an educated decision on how to allocate their skills.
I actually like the way labor screen works in the game (compared to classic when I loved to use DT for it), but I’ll still use it for all the overviews it provides
I´m affraid I will need a therapist after being suffocated by all those spreadsheats! Oh no, it´s AMAZING job, but man, so much informations came like rock and stone avalanche xD
There is a thread on the bay12 forums to keep up to date on progress as this is being worked on. It's in the utilities sub forum. Looking at the guthub, that may not even contain the most recent data update yet, looks like it was posted 3 days ago. And just yesterday in that thread I noticed one of the modders posted an updated piece of data to get more stuff in there working properly.
Hope can help anyone that might be struggling with this, Found that DwarfTherapist wont connect to the game if DwarfFortress is running as Admin lol was stumped for a minute
How does assigning labors through Dwarf Therapist impact with the labors created in this new version? Does it completely override? What if you create a custom labor in game, but also alter something in the game labor?
can I set a default? so every new migrant will have the default labors enabled/disabled? can I select several columns, so I can disable every labor for every dwarf easily, or I can disable every labor for a single dwarf?
Because this is a tool made by someone else, not the developers. Also, there are some actual important interfaces missing from the game that still need to be added in but were missing for launch because of time constraints.
They released "memory_layouts" for the premium versions on the forums. You just need to copy and paste them in the Dwarf Therapist data\memory_layouts\windows (or linux/osx depending on the OS).

I hope new players will find it as useful as it was when we really needed it.
Oh hey thanks! I wasn't paying attention to the release and didn't know it was out.
Always my favorite way of sorting out dwarves!
Blown away by this coming so fast! Fantastic work.
it's insane they were able to do it this fast, what i've read on the forum this could have taken months
OMGOMGOMG, Yaaay its finally updated :D
Wait, does it work with the steam edition now?
I spent 2 years after catching and training a pair of Giant Eagles to try and breed them only to figure that the female was gay/asexual and butcher her. With Therapist i wont have to face that annoyance.
Aren't they egg layers?

Putting the "aero" in Aro
@@erubianwarlord8208 Maybe there is a tool for it in DFhack?

Honestly, its insane that a bunch of people made a tool like this for a game at all... Thank you for bringing my attention to it. :)
This and DF Hack are very cool 3rd party utilities. Others for the classic version like sound sense were included in the DF noob pack.
Looks amazing now I'll finally be able to make all my dwarves happy

I am looking forward to more videos on how to use this version of Therapist with the Steam version of DF
Please make more content
As a new player, this helps soo much. Soo many things i wish i could be able to do in game more easily. Thanks for showing!
I for the love of god cant understand why at least basic sorting isn't a part of the game already
Yay! Dwarf Therapist is back baby!
Thank you, this is a really cool tool :)

All the content and fun is already there, but the tabs and stuff need much more overhauling.

Mind Blown, looks amazing, Did you make this. Where do you get it when its ready,
check the description for the github link and go to releases
This is an old utility for the old DF version that has been updated for the new steam release.

A more global view of dwarves is welcome, not being able to quickly switch between them is a pain.

was stumped for a minute
Try running DT as admin ? Funny that it does that

Thanks for this. I had dowloaded the tool but the whole excel spreadsheet vibe threw me at first.
:) I don't understand why these very useful interface wasn't include in steam version initially?

Oh the colors... so many colors that I don't understand.
Can dwarf therapist be used for the premium version of dwarf fortress?
They released "memory_layouts" for the premium versions on the forums. You just need to copy and paste them in the Dwarf Therapist data\memory_layouts\windows (or linux/osx depending on the OS).
Or use the link in the description to get the premade test version
Do you have to create a new world to use this mod in it, or can it be applied to a currently running fort?
You don't apply this mod like you do the mods from steam Workshop, this is an application that runs in the background after you've loaded your world.
how do you install?
