25 Days Solo Camping in the Arctic Wilderness - The Full Documentary. Caught in Thunder & Rain Storm

- The Arctic Nordics holds some of Europes largest and last expanses of wilderness. A brave wilderness - deep backcountry camping, remote wild camping, off grid and far from the roads. This is the full documentary about my survival in the woods where I’m alone in the wild and exploring the Arctic Wilderness. After leaving my van at a remote mountain lake, I head out solo camping and fishing on 4 wilderness travel adventures for 25 days.
Surviving a Summer in the Arctic, Tarp Shelter & Tent Camping in Thunderstorm, Heavy Rain, Hailstorm. Full extended version from the whole summer spent in the arctic wilderness. Hiking, backpacking & camping, survival and some fly fishing. Caught in Massive Storms of Hail, Thunder, Lightning & Heavy Rain in the mountains of the arctic. Solo Camping in many storms. #camping #aloneinthewild #wilderness #wildernesssurvival #wildernesscamping
-A 14 day trip in the wilderness at the borderlands with 9 storms. I get caught up on the mountain pass in a massive storm of hail, lightning, heavy rain and thunder and forced to shelter under my tarp under a rock to try and survive the torrential massive storm. Thunder and lightning go off all around me and the hail is massive. These 14 days will have plenty of storms, and this is the first of them. I am not really sure yet if I have survived.
-An Arctic adventure into Sarek to go see the amazing views of Skierfe into Rapadalen river delta valley. Things looked bright but then a big change in the weather forecast made me Bail my Arctic Storm Camp & Hike 26km through Fog at Night to get off the mountain before the 5 day stretch of heavy rain was going to hit the area.
-Two off-trail backpacking trips in Lapland
-A beautiful backpacking & solo camping trip in an unknown mountain area.

Something magical being out in that weather, but protected and cozy!
I couldnt agree more!
When people get away from an exhausting job and go camping; waking up to nature's water and rain is a good feeling from city exhaustion.
Absolutely breathtaking! Your ability to capture the raw power of nature while maintaining such a calm presence is truly inspiring. The way you’ve documented the thunder, lightning, hail, and rain gives us a vivid glimpse into the challenges of shelter camping in extreme conditions. Your resilience and respect for the environment shine through every frame. Can’t wait to see where your adventures take you next! 🌩️🏕️
Wow, thank you my friend!
One man documentary team.
Lol, Thanks!
What beautifull blueberries ! Straight from nature ! I love your wandering through the wood. "Pure nature" ! Not the slightest intervenience of men. That golden sunset, as if a big fire was lighted, those golden autumn-leaves at the trees, the swamp with the dry burned grass, the friendly raindeer that came to greet you... so herrlich ! And better 12 moose around your tent at night than 1 spider into your tent ! Brrrrrrrrrrrr.... ! What an awesome wilderness, that forest. That's the sequence I like the most, and also the glaciers.... That were for you a f ew marvellous days, and you transmitted us your deep feelings of satisfaction and joy in Norway's gorgeous nature... 🌿 🌳 🍀
Thank you!
The crystal clarity of your beautiful nature shots are always stunning
Many thanks!
3 h 45 : You wandered over that rock-desert quasi as easily as if you walked over the esplanade in front of Paris' Notre-Dame.... ! Those glacier-landscapes are gorgeous, with their nuances of white and all degrees of blue. The mountain lakes with their peaceful rimpling-rustling water, awesome from above... Breathtaking ! The blue sky makes it all so serene, in contrast to the harsh camping conditions of the first video-hours. You keep your serenity of the heart, even when meteorologic conditions are more turbulent. You communicate to us your joy about the beautiful morning, your admiration of nature. Thank you so much Jarl. Stay always safe. And don't lean too far over the edges ! Hahahahaaa ! 😂 😅 😆 💜
Thank you Regine, yes I really enjoy being out there and showing it all to you:-)
Through these amazing views, you give us the magnificence of the nature. Go ahead, you offer us calmness.
Thank you, i appreciate it very much!

Как всегда шикарное видео. Респект.
Thank you Sergey
Remember I talked to you last week about my wife not wanting to step in your footsteps with me?
Watching you in your rain shelter, she's even more convinced 😂😂.
However, I find it very cosy and wonderfull under there during the hail and rain ❤
That is awesome! Thank you!
This was fun. Going back to the old days with those little cups of coffee n prepackaged meals. I surprised u don’t eat them n ur van journeys. Looks quick n easy n yummy.
Looking back u still made spectacular shots of these views. B4 the drone u did incredible n ur filming. Still felt like I was there n could see everything. I was just as envious of these places then as I am now.
ALL ur work is simply wonderful !!!

My sentiments!
Yes Jarl, that's the way we like it! And we thought we had much rain here in The Netherlands! Enjoying nature in all its rawness and beauty. You cannot come closer to nature than that. Absolutely stunning and amazing environment. Glad you brought your tarp. Very handy. Love seeing the moose. Enjoying the company of your friends, food, drinks, shelter, make a fire, some music, good conversations and the best views. What else do you need? Hopefully better weather in june when we meet 😅, I really want to make a campfire🔥
You got that right Marina!
If & when you to meet up with Jarl, I hope you will share some video footage.
Warm Regards from far away Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.

Hey, Thank goodness for larger tent inventions now a days. You no longer have to squat under some teepee types. I know you can
I really enjoy the videos when you're hunkered down in the rain or snow just watching the storms. Its so relaxing. Thank you.

Starting to warm here and I'm thankful for that. Stay safe
Haha, amazing, it is a long one!
Over 5 hours but that should help your channels algorithm out.
Even though it looks like it’s gonna storm. Maybe it will hold off. It is such a beautiful day. Well no luck. I’m very fortunate that mosquitoes don’t like me. I have never bitten by one. My Daddy never got bitten either. Very fortunate I would say. Looks like it’s gonna storm again. Love watching. Your videos are the best. Have a blessed day. Hope you meet your friends soon.
Oh wow, you are lucky indeed
Spectacular as always! Thanks Jarl!

What an amazing place to be.
Because I have been watching your videos, I have decided I want to go see for myself.
It won’t happen for a few years yet and it’s a long way from Australia so I will need to plan it well.
I love the idea of the van tho.

It would be a dream come true
Some people like to listen to that sound before bed so record for sure the great sound.
So how did you spend your Saturday night Renee well I watched over 5 hrs of Norwegian Explorer..where else would I be..
Lol, thank you so much!!
I have to break long videos up into watching 1 hour at a time.
5+ hours of footage, I'll be watching this in segments over the next several days
16 June ---- what year?
14 days worth of food must weigh a ton in addition to taking up a lot of space in your backpack.
I think I prefer dealing with Rattlesnakes here in NW Nevada rather than mosquitos.
At least you didn't have to deal with mosquitos during the hail storm. Good ole tarp, big rock, & tripod to the rescue for emergency shelter from hail/rain.
I've been caught in hail just once, in August, on the summit (12,677') of Mt Humphreys in Arizona. The hail was very small pellets & completely blanked the summit within 5-7 minutes. Thankfully, I had a cookie crumb trail to the summit on my Garmin 62ST GPS & used it to get down off the rocky summit. By the time I got down to 12,000' & tree line, the hail stopped. Sadly, I didn't think to take any photos. I was totally concerned with where I put each foot every step of the way off the summit.
1:03:15 - to be continued
5May (my next day); 1:11.01 - Morten & Steiner arrive & I'm sure they were happy your shelter was large enough for them to get out of the rain.
1:58:44; Really nice of "Real Turmat" to send you some of their meals.
I've watched every second of this video to this point. This is entertaining & an escape from reality, for MEeee.
There is no such thing as "News" on the internet, only propaganda -
1:59:13; to be continued tomorrow (6 May 2024)
2:07.33; beautiful landscape & nice weather in July. Your videos are THE BEST on all of youtube.
2:11:30; thanks to time-lapse, you set up your tent in less than 30 seconds.
2:27:27; I always like to see your footage of wildlife.
3:04:11; to be continued tomorrow (7 May)
3:13:59; good plan to get off the mountain & head back to the van before it started pouring rain.
3:16:20; Lapland, I think this is Matti/Stina's neck of the woods.
3:33:13; I especially liked the reindeer footage. Any wildlife is a treat.
5:06; Northern lights at the end. Couldn't stop watching this evening. It's now 22:36, my time & I'm headed for bed.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.
Haha, it is a long one indeed, but I had so much from last year I needed to show that I had not posted yet. This was June last year. Thanks Bill!!
@@NorwegianXplorer I was thinking near the end that I'd see footage of the time you helped another hiker deal with a bear.
@@azclaimjumper Oh yeah, that one lol, maybe I will see more bears when I go to the US in Sept, have not seen any here. I just noticed you had elaborated on your first post here, so a few quick answers, yes, i actually saw Mattis van parked at this trailhead when I started the trip, and I texted a little bit with Stina on instagram before I set out on the trip, or the previous trip actually that went to Skierfe. I might head up there again this summer, gonna meet up with my friends in Femundmarka mid June and then I will head north I think...
Looks like I got the glow plug warning fixed as well, the relay that was changed was also faulty, now it is fixed. yay!
Ohhhh yeah. Jarl my friend. Im looking forward to this. Damnit i hope 1 day i can do what you do. Kids are almost grown lol. My day is coming.
Leave the kids before they leave you 😅
Go for it my friend!
@@PEDALSnPROJECTS 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 ive tried
Lol!
In Shetland it only gets to 12c maximum temperature in summer
That is quite chilling
seeing weather changes lately you may need to keep a strong helmet & shoulder pads when gorilla hail happens?
i enjoyed my camping trips in the past. just cant see now being as easy. be safe out there 🙏🏞
Thank you Joey! we dont get the monster hail here luckily
It's clear climate is changing over the world
Yes, i think so too
I am 21 minutes into this video. I dislike camping for many reasons and you are in one of those reasons. There is no place to hide. Lightning all around you is enough to send me right back where I came from and not return. You can survive, wind, hail and rain, but that lightning, is another matter. I seemed like a long hike with a lot of rock and barren land to go through. Stay safe.
Thanks
🌹🌹🌹
Thanks
Atleast the the rain kept the mosquitoes away.
Well, no it doesnt, I use a thermacell for the mosquitos
It's like as if you go looking for the worst weather conditions.
Yes, it finds me🤷♂️
I think I've seen this already but I'll watch it again.
Some of it
@@NorwegianXplorer You're right, some of it I haven't seen before. I love looking at all your videos.

Hello free Norwegian jarl :-) You have the most full-length travels! I think you are a decent person if you love your homeland! Not everyone can be brave and open in front of the camera...
Thank you! 😃
Beautiful video……how would you protect yourself from four or two legged hostile predators?
Hehe, this is a peaceful part of the world

Hello
What is the meaning of the red T's on the rocks and trees?
Trail markers
Good question, I was wondering the same thing.
What do you think it means to have hail there?
Not sure it means anything:-)
which video editor program you use with hdr support?
I use FCPX
People suffered from mosquitoes during the battle on Canadian soil when people were promised land and a train.
In the States, we can get hail the size of golf balls and beyond. 😂

Здравствуй Ярл 🙂 Как норвежцы решают проблему с мусором свалками?

It's good that you think about your nature. 🙂 That's why nature gives you cool shots, moments, landscapes 🤗
Good point!
People have to be like a turtle and carry their house on their backs.
Could you share the size of the tarp?
I dont remember the size, it is quite small
I'm confused - When was this recorded ?
This is all last summer Andrew
@@NorwegianXplorer Have you published this before ? FWIW the video quality, color, exposure. etc is way better than the last video I saw of you in this area - maybe you upgraded equipment.
Some of it was posted previous summer, but my older videos from this are was shot on my phone and a gopro, this was shot on a Sony A7mk4
Purchase a thermacell you won’t regret it
I have it
Did you say June 16th was this last year
Yes this is all from last summer, some I have posted last summer and some that I have not posted before.
can u upload the eating scenes compliation video?
You are kidding, right?
This seems like something you posted already. Very cool to see the weather. Good thing you put up the tarp in the hail storm.
I’m not sure but I think I might have stated this before. Years ago I was putting my boat in the the waters of Lake St. Clair in Michigan. A thunder storm came up. I got the boat in the water and the storm canopies on as the storm hit. While the storm hit I had about an inch of water running in a sheet off my boat. Wild to be out there. I had no hail but the light show was something.
Some things from last summer i posted, some things I didnt post
