NOCO!!! Hi Guys, been watching your channel for years, love it all, but I have never commented. Dougo... look into a NOCO jumper pack, they have a Dougo button, which tells the unit to over ride the safety features and will push current out regardless of what voltage it is seeing. Cheers from Australia!!
“I’ve never felt so safe.😂😂😂 Chet that was a classic! Broady Your Great! Keep the love ! That’s All hard work. So we understand. That gears us all grumpy from time to time. But You guys always funny and having a good time!
Main reason for a charger to sense a minimum voltage is so the chargers will know if it’s connected correctly, positive to positive & negative to negative. Retired marine mechanic here, we had an electric boat come in one time that had a burned motor in it. We replaced the motor, turned on battery switch and the couple gauges went all hay wire. So we just figured charge battery then it could/should/might be good. When connecting our chargers it said reverse polarity, ‘whats going on here’? I put my battery tester on battery and it said reverse polarity, ‘what’? Come to find out the customer had old style charger that would charge a completely discharged battery and he put the clips on wrong, positive clip to negative & negative to positive and charged the battery backwards. So we connected a car headlight to the system to completely drain the battery, then charge up correctly. Everything good. So, if you want to charge a completely dead battery just put jumper cables from a good battery to the dead battery, then put new style charger on dead one until the charger starts throwing power to it then disconnect the cables. Note, this will not work with cables coming from a truck because the truck is putting out approximately 14 volts from the alternator so charger will read as good and not send power.
I’ve used that jumpbox before, there is a manual override setting to where even if there’s zero power in the battery you can make it send power. It’s in the owners manual.
Thanks for another great video Chet and crew. It was interesting and enjoyable to watch. Hey Dougo. I believe there is an override button on that charger that will let you use it without any power. Or you hold the switch down to put it in override mode. It is one of those. The owners manual will tell you. Just trying to help, not bossing you around. Sorry your truck did not sell BUT am glad it did not and you still have it. That is such a nice truck. Keep it!!!!!!! Like the adjustable spout you put on Brody’s combine. That will be most helpful. Neat piece of equipment. Nice work. Sorry someone took up two hours of your time. Sounds like they used the truck as a way to get to the farm. People need to just leave you folks alone so you can do your work. Like the fireman hat. Neat. That might be a toy collector item. Hold onto it. About it I guess. You all take care and be safe. Thanks for everything Chet. The Iowa farm boy. Steve 😊😊👋👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
With those Jumper packs there is an ! point / override button if you power it on then hold it down for a few seconds the lights will start flashing and it will work with completely dead batteries. The reason it has that safety is if you accidently touch the red and back together or hook them up backwards with the new lithium battery packs it can either catch fire violently or explode
In the 70s my little brother had the Radio Shack Firechief's Helmet that was like that one. He would wear it while he watched the TV show Emergency! and would have all his toy fire trucks and ambulance out to play with at the same time.
Sorry if someone already told you , I didn't want to read through them all lol. Century Battery chargers again makes manual with auto chargers so you get both. Only ones I know of anymore that do. And they are a very nice quality.
Safety with a hard hat is very important! The siren noise and flashing light is just a bonus! Maybe this fall you will have a need for the KW that didn't sell.
Man I remember me and the old man once went on a similar road trip to look at some trailers after driving all day I'm glad we bought them I was so fatigued once we got home at 11.00pm .
Dougo is right about the new chargers. My 2014 heavy duty charger/booster died so I replaced it with a new and improved one. Ya! Found out the first time it was used about not working on a dead battery. It now has a small lawn mower battery (used one I had kept) with jumper cables attached. If you hook up to a dead battery and it isn't charging, attached the jumpers from the small bat to charger clamps and the charger starts charging. Sometimes you can remove the small bat jumpers immediately and the main charger will continue other times you have to leave it connected for a while before the main charger will read enough voltage to continue.
Mr. Toby might like to have a photo opt with the fireman hat. I think Mr. Roger is playing a prank! The A-Team is always on top of things! Please cut Mr. Dougo some slack. I agree with him. Choices have consequences and you learn very quickly from your unfortunate choices. We don’t keep making them over and over and over again. I know Brody is so excited about his Mean-Green Tractor Machine with all his upgrades‼️ Sending much love and respect to all The Larson Farm Family.
Thanks again for the content! You can make a grommet by slitting 2-3 inches of small(1/4 inch???) hose lengthwise. The charger can f stuff up if it is hooked up backwards or to a shorted battery(BANG! with battery acid flying everywhere) with a powerful charger. It can be done(BANG!) with jumper cables too. It is one reason to make last (ground) connection to frame away from battery.
No. That Jump pack has a by pass button. Turn it on and push the red ! Until the battery level vars start flashing and then hook it to a battery. Good to go.

I understood everything Doug said, as a former mechanic, I have seen batteries without voltage be low or out of coolant from cracked cases. or be shorted. I have seen luckily not in person batteries explode from them, and batteries catch on fire from them. a lot of the fancy electronic ones have sensors and programing to react to certain conditions to prevent risks.
I guess I’m old too because I’m like Dougo. If the battery is dead then you need to charge it. You don’t need to charge a charged battery. That’s just the way it is😅. Cool video Chet. 👍❤️
I have that same jump pack, there’s an override button that disables the voltage sense. It’s not recommended to do but it’s there if there’s no voltage at the batteries.
Chet Brody gets all the new good stuff because he’s sleeping with the bosses daughter. Being the bosses son just isn’t the same. lol PS I love your videos hope you have a great fall harvest
I must be old because I totally agree with Dougo. If the battery is dead that’s the purpose of the charger. Don’t need to charge a charged battery. But I have seen battery tops blown off.

You guys should look into those heavy duty jump starter kits, I've seen em for like $80-$100 at most. I've seen em jump dead tractors and half ton's with just a push of a button.
Doug you are right on the battery charger. When I worked in the garage at first we have charger that would start charging on dead totally batteries. Then they came out with the crappy chargers that need to have the battery have some life in them before starting to charge. In this day and age if you reverse the positive and negative claps turn on the charger it will fry the computers and modules. So to stop stupide people from doing this the chargers are polarity sensitive. In most cases they are junk because most people know how to hook up a battery or use jumper cables. A battery that is totally dead can be charge backwards making positive post to negative and negative to positive in the old days to save a battery and shake it up we would discharge a battery stone dead charge it backwards then discharge it and recharge it the proper way and some time you could save a sulfated battery. These were acid filled battery's .
Question........ Why not get a dump truck bed for the the Kenworth and get rid of the old white dump truck? You get rid of a truck but you upgrade at the same time??
On top of frame being too long, most dump trucks are double framed(c-channel frame fit tightly in the slightly larger c channel frame) to handle having large loads being dumped in them from above. Most over the road and grain trucks are not double framed.
@@justinmartin5399 thank you for answering this in a knowledgeable manner. It makes complete sense now. I just figured anything with that big of a box would have to be double framed. Was not aware that they were not
