As a Motswana, I'm really proud that we stood together as a country and decided with immediate effect that we want change.. and this shows how tired we were, well done Batswana.. its a risk we took.. we are hoping for the best change. Our economy is already down, but we hope that we will rise to greater heights.

@hdmotsadi - Your problems were with Masisi not the BDP . If Ian Khama had contested this election the coalition would have not won. He’s promised to close down the American airbase yet keep the HIV & AIDs funded programs which have saved millions of lives. The Americans are have a lease which would sustain the Batswana long term ahead. This coalition is now going to surrender the country to the Chinese communist party corruption

This is no Humiliation. This is the democratic system set up by founders of BDP at play. If anything, the President Masis only failed to articulate his achievements or account for the alledged corruption and waste of resources. That's why Batswana were voting the BDP out. President Masisi wasn't that bad of a president compared to his predecessors, but times change, and so goes the people. Peace

      Poverty increased under his watch.
Hunger increased under his watch, especially with his vegetable ban.
Health facilities have no medicine and even cards.
      The economy collapsed.
      Corruption is now endemic.
He has interfered with the judiciary .

    • @Ttbaebae
      @Ttbaebae 21 день тому +13

Presidents 1,2,3 in my opinion propagated the country forward. They had the people in their hearts during their terms. Admittedly for them, they operated during a time when the BDP paternalism was widely accepted by the majority, and economic growth faced less challenges such as the pandemic and decreased demand for diamonds. Although I can imagine Number 1 had a massive challenge mapping a foundation for the country. But he laid it, and had close to marvellous execution.
Number 4 acted like a paternalistic dictator who believed his lineage as a tribal chief and the son of the first president afforded him ownership of the country. Literally this man was handed all his “achievements” chieftaincy, bdp leadership, the bdf lieutenant general and the subsequent commander in chief as the president. He behaved like a toddler who threw tantrums when things didn’t go his way, and made a circus following his departure from the presidency.
Number 5 is an intelligent, personable man with wit. He had his successes, and his failures. However his tenure was clouded by many dubious actions that I hope the government elect will form a corruption commission to investigate him, and number 4, as well as prominent members of their cabinets. Number 5 got drunk on power, forgot the person he sold to Batswana as he was campaigning, and became way too arrogant.
Number 6, he is book smart. Let’s hope he has emotional intelligence. He seems to have grown as a man compared to his previous self last elections. Let’s hope he surrounds himself with more thoughtful people like his VP who are wise to advise him. Wish us well world 🇧🇼

There are Batswana criminals, but the crime rate due to Zimbabweans has skyrocketed. And they enter our country freely, illegally like they’re in their own country. I empathise with their situation back home, and they form an important part of the economy in the unskilled labour sector. However a lot of them are wreaking havoc with petty and serious crimes. 1. ANC (though slightly deminished) in South Africa.
    2. Zanu-PF in Zimbabwe.
    3. SWAPO in Namibia.
    4. FRELIMO in Mozambique.
    5. MPLA in Angola.
    6. CCP in Tanzania
Zambia, Malawi, the DRC and now Botswana are the exception to the rule. Perhaps the tide will start to change. At the very least the incumbent Independence Movement parties will be forced to wake up and become more effective in governance, less entitled and less corrupt

Talking about Botswana. And you can't invite a Botswana guest. The BDP is not a liberation movement, Botswana was never colonized, the country was under a British Protection which they as a country asked for this British protection and when they wanted self rule it was granted without any hindrance. With due respect this person doesn't know much about Botswana. Change because Batswana wanted change not because of Ian Khama.
