    "Hot Singles In Your Area" should have been the title of some band's compilation of singles.

    I remember first discovering Scene Queen when she first started and thought she was very fuckin good but, you hit the nail on the head. The Scene Queen persona can only go so far. After listening to both bimbocore eps when they individually came out, I'm just kinda bored of her style. It's like she milked the cow till it was dry and there's no more milk to drink. I think if she just took a bit of a more serious route without losing too much of her original persona, it'll do some good but hey, I'm not an expert.

      I think it would’ve been worth shouting out Climax, as it’s the ballad of the album that she drops some of the act in order to be personal on

    Love her so much. I saw her live last year when she toured with set it off and she was AMAZING live. The energy was fucking fire, her voice was great, her screams were lovely (although I did see her on the first leg of the tour I believe)
    If you've ever liked girly pop and were a scene kid who also loved pink, she is DEFINITELY for you 😂🩷

      Replying to my comment to add: I'm a little sad you didn't remark about "Climax". Obviously you can write it off because of the name, however she genuinely sings in it, and she's pretty vulnerable as well especially if you watch the music video or read the lyrics. Just an additional thought at the end of the video

    • @Straximus
      @Straximus 2 місяці тому

      @@samanthamuska9652 100% agree on "Climax". I was also surprised it wasn't mentioned, esp after the comments about the limitations of the Scene Queen character, given that she seems to fully step out of the character for this one song. I've always been a sucker for a power ballad, and this one is just so heartfelt and authentic that I'm sucked in every time I hear it.
      Also, you're on point about her live performances. I've seen her 3 times now, and she puts on an amazing show.

    Thanks for making this review, im a casual enjoyer of Scene Queen and while I like a lot of the songs, some were misses. I feel like MILF could’ve worked better if the drop was louder, but I still don’t think that would’ve “fixed” the song for me. I do actually like Stuck a lot tho

    I’ve been along for the ride for her material for the last two years, seen her live before and even with its clumsier moments, I have fun with her music more so for it being a radically different flair of metal. It’s a fun album on the surface but it isn’t perfect and of course, people are going to despise it yet, that’s what the veneer mostly wants to do while also having its fans. I think she’s great, album’s solid but not perfect. Her past EPs have good stuff also but your milage will vary.

    I've had mixed feelings about Scene Queen since I first heard her. I thought she was really obnoxious when I first found out about her (though that could tie in to me just being a bit of an elitist prick at the time), but then she released "18+" and I gained quite a bit of respect for her for that. I don't know if I'll check this full thing out or not, but I did at least want to see your thoughts on it.

  • @zappasmoustache23
    @zappasmoustache23 3 місяці тому

    It’s not elitist or gatekeeping to call out stuff that has nothing to do with metal. What she’s doing is great, love her attitude and she has some genuinely funny lyrics, 18+ has a great message, but just because something features a small bit of distorted guitar doesn’t make it metal and it doesn’t make someone closed minded for saying so. I personally have gone out of my way to listen to some of her stuff because I’m interested in hearing new things, is that not open minded? A cat has ears and a tail but that doesn’t make it a dog. And this has nothing to do with metal.

    I want to give this album a chance and I want to fully endorse and back Scene Queen, but Finger is one of the most obnoxious, gut churningly annoying and cringe songs I’ve ever heard. So much so it’s really almost killed any desire to listen to her going forward. I feel like this character should be well established and have found her footing by now, but it’s still just such a toss up on whether or not I’m going to vibe and have fun or want to ram into the back of a semi.

    it's good that the song shitting on pedophiles is the best one on there, but this just isnt for me, respectfully. hyperpop is one of my fav genres, so I am not opposed to some music that can have an obnoxious kinda appeal on the surface, and I also love a lot of music that comes from a feminine angle. The execution on this one just gets on my nerves more often than it doesn't, though. Her limited vocal capabilities made songs blend in for me and made it hard to get through.
