i left that comment 3 days ago in jest, as a wintersun fan i couldn't be happier with the release of the album, and i can respect your opinion and feedback on the album, no two people can completely agree. mad respect for admitting you were wrong. now i'm gonna be the stereotypical WS fan and come to its defense haha. jokes aside i think its important to clarify the following since the band's reputation has been needlessly tarnished. there was only 1 crowdfunding campaign before the album was finished, and much like the first one, the second one had the same goal of building the recording studio so the band doesn't run into any problems with music production moving forward. the album was finished and SOLD in the second campaign. while you may find it like many others to be overproduced, it's jari's style of songwriting and his vision for his music, and i personally respect it as a fan and musician and don't wish to put pressure on the man to just release albums he isn't happy with. keep in mind i was one of the people who doubted the man after the long silence following their 3 year tour from 2017-2020, but in the end it turned out that he used the funds that were made and worked on the album in secret, even hiding it from the other band members to not bring up any expectations, till it was good enough to release (he also remixed and remastered the first time album to match in sound and production to this one, which was included as one of the contents of the second campaign. in both campaigns we backers paid to pre-order the albums (forest seasons for the first, and time 2 for the second campaign) among many other goodies like unreleased demos and remasters of the older albums. it was never about "giving them money to make/finish time 2" but rather to support the band in building the studio and avoid future mishaps like the Time saga of 2006-2024. no idea about any future campaigns but it could happen with the next album as the goal is building the studio after all, so the band can get to producing the music at a much better pace without being tied down to fees and such, and honestly i think with the amount of stuff we got for the 50 euroes each time, i'd happily purchase the album directly from the artist for the extra goodies on top and skip the record label middle man. of course i'm curious on your opinion about that as well. Again kudos to you for admitting you're wrong and deciding to move forward in life, which i'm sure not a lot of critics and haters are willing to do, as you said. we can say all we want about the man's work ethic and modus operandi, but i personally think it's disrespectful to rush and artist and demand they release something they're unsatisfied with... if the artist doesn't like it, think the listeners would? most people criticized time I for various reasons and i can say confidently that looking back now, it was in no way a finished product compared to what the artist wanted it to be and sound like. i mean comparing the remix/remaster of Time I that i got for funding the second campaign to the original release (which was sthn he had to do to at least get something out there according to the contract with nuclear blast) i found it much better and think if the albums had come out with this quality, none of the hate would have happened, but alas the technology at the time was not up to par to make it, an ironic curse of an artistic idea coming ahead of its time and putting the artist through so much struggle to finish it. in the end there was no scam but i can understand how it can come off as such to someone who isn't invested in all the details, i'll be checking out the video you referenced to see for myself how much of it was misinformation/miscommunication as i wasn't really aware of what the haters were talking about, i just patiently waited for the band to release their album at their own discretion. i'd say even if you are not a fan, keep an eye out for what the band does in the future, from what Jari said in interviews he's going to be focusing his time on finishing one of the 4 albums he's got in the works instead of going on tour for this one, and only "time" will tell :P Cheers and sorry for the wall of text, nothing here but constructive criticism, hope it cleared things up!
I'm one of those fans who paid €50 for the Time II package. It wasn't a donation, but a pre-order, same as you can pre-order a book before it gets published. Lots of people do it when they know the author and trust that they will get a good product. For my money I a got a brand new album which I absolutely love; two remastred older ones, one of which I didn't have before; 5 albums of early demos with some incredibly good stuff on them. Plus lots of extras. Haven't even listened to all of it, but for me it's worth every cent, because it will give me endless time of happyness. So, if that was a scam, please scam me some more 🤘
This video dude, absolutely loves the album, but is too ashamed to tell the truth. What a fkin clown😆😆. Never heard of this T-shirt guy before! Good appetite for you Sir.
Yeah, the last time I saw a shirt get eaten, it wound up hanging from the dog's butt and painting the furniture with ooze poop. Helluva thing to come home to after work.
Time 2 eat t-shirts! OK I have to checkout the history of Time II recording. I know sometimes albums takes a lot of time to be recorded, but this case seems quite interesting.
This might be the funniest video on the channel, as soon as I saw Time II released I remembered the T-Shirt line and this video did not disappoint me lol
You say that while the fans funded over a million dollars to the not so most popular band ever. Such a thing actually Frightens me to how ridiculous the fans are
Even now when he's objectively gotten a little better at fan interactions it still seems shady. So in Time Package there's supposedly a Time II ( more dynamic mix ) and I'd be willing to bet a lot of these production issues are fixed on that version. So it still kinda seems like a big cash grab. I understand that musical artists get the shaft ALL THE TIME from streaming companies, record execs, and people pirating their shit ( not me I'd never ever lol ) but you can go about it in a way that is transparent and honest. Jari didn't do that. He was totally dismissive of all of our concerns. I didn't give him any money but I can imagine a lot of the people that did felt super betrayed when they did Forest Seasons instead. Ya know artists aren't obligated to give the fans any and everything they want, but if you set up a big crowdfund with a promise to deliver a long awaited album then do it. Or else come out and say "listen I got lazy. I wanted a sauna in the studio and wasted some of the cash on it. Even just a little bullshit apology or acknowledgment. But no it's always "you're making false assumptions" "see when you divide up all the money from the crowdfund it really only equals out to minimum wage" You can't beg for money then act like an asshole ( I think I stole that line from Forgemaster )
@@JoshieMadhatt People who are so concerned about that sauna do not understand that Jari lives in Finland; we have here saunas in every f*cking place; almost every house, flat (even one room w/ sauna), cottage, gym, hotel etc have saunas, we have trailer saunas, tent saunas, saunas built inside a touring bus... ... or even inside an old combined harvester... If he is going to build a studio, where he, the band members and possible guests could produce music 24/7/365 there just HAVE TO be guestrooms and sauna. In fact sauna is the place for us Finns where we many times get the best (and sometimes the worst) ideas.
@@Pave999 I didn't know that but the sauna wasn't really the biggest deal for me. It's that he got mad at fans for feeling betrayed and angry when they donated so much money and then more crowd funding. But I mean I'm not willing to out and out call it a scam I think maybe he isn't good at budgeting. I'm pretty charitable I just got annoyed that the dynamic mix didn't get released as a stand alone. I mean the production is soooooooo much better
I honestly was expecting a t shirt shaped cake or pie or something, that would’ve been crazy I never knew winter sun had so much more behind them, I haven’t even listened to time 1 yet, I’ve only heard the forest seasons, I got a lot to catch up on.
I'm not personally fussed by the crowdfunding stuff, I forked out and I'm totally happy with the result. BUT... totally agree with the comments on production, for the main release. The thing that REALLY baffles me is that Jari has included 2 dynamic versions in the Time package, mastered at 1 and 2 decibels quieter than the main release, with more dynamic range. And holy fking moly, the -2DB version is absolutely incredible. No fatigue from loudness, super punchy drums, vocals you can hear properly... There's a version of Time 1 in the package with the same mix, and it sounds like a different album. Put Time 1 and 2 dynamic versions back to back in a playlist, and it's like the album we should have got originally, and is possibly the best thing I've ever heard. I have NO idea what possessed Jari to release the overcompressed monstrosity he did, and hold the massively superior dynamic versions back as extras rather than the other way round.. Very odd choice.
I'm someone who will defend Time I until the cows come home. I genuinely enjoy it and think it's an emotional, atmospheric, epic journey that makes me love Symphonic Metal. But knowing basically nothing about studio recording, mixing and mastering, I could not begin to tell you if Jari really needed all that time and money to make Time II. As for the album it first? With the disclaimer that I've only listened to it once, and that albums rarely stick on the first listen, I felt underwhelmed. The melodies and the emotion put into it have not left me feeling much at all. I genuinely did not have any expectations besides "more of Time I/The Forest Seasons", but this album still fell short. Even so, I'm glad it exists, I'm glad it got made, and I'm glad we can finally put the memes about it to rest. With that said, there is one thing about this album which did, legitimately piss me off: Why did this come out BEFORE Hollow Knight: Silksong?!
Fair play to you, sir. It takes a man to apologize on this level, well done. I got the pre-order (a day early) and I have ended up with so much from it, that I'm actually blown away. The Time Package (for those who have not seen the video) includes Time II. And Time I. And The Forest Seasons (Loud & Modern), and FIVE albums of early demos (in original and remastered versions) and some covers. In addition, you get Dynamic versions of the Time I & II albums with 1db & 2db mixing, singles (for having them as standalone tracks), instrumental (for karaoke etc.) and with individual tracks - so, that you can mix the album your own way if you don't like what Jari has done with it... all in Wave files for best quality. To go with it, there are 8K booklets (visible in browser) of the Time I & II CD booklets, a 5K booklet for The Forest Seasons and the demos plus images from the promos from each album from 5K to 8K. Oh, and you get all music in MP3 format as well. All that for the €50 pre-order price. What should be remembered is that Time II is a continuation of Time I and was written there or soon thereafter - that is up to 2012 (E&OE) so, it will sound a bit dated compared to The Forest Seasons and what they are doing with regard to the quartet of albums that may materialize from 2025... In all fairness - just bake a HUGE cake in the shape and size of one of your shirts and eat that.
The irony of accusing someone of making promises they can't / won't fulfill, while being that person themself, is hopefully not lost on anyone. Or "taking the L and moving on" while pointing out that it was the comments' fault that you'll probably be seen in a certain light, instead of lying in the bed you made yourself. I'm already regretting I spent 12.5 minutes of my life for clicking this cringe clown, but that'll remind me that recommendations are not always worth it.
I’m really relating to your thoughts. There’s also the heavier lean into the eastern/Japanese sounds. On time 1 I thought the influence was subtle enough that it blended into the Wintersun experience. Now its so cranked up and overt that I find it distracting. Good call on the shirt.
When I found out the news that Time II was released, which was a couple of days ago, I was like, "What? really? Wintersun released Time II?" It was out of nowhere for me. I did not think that the album would see the light of day. Glad to hear that the album turned out fine.
I do like Wintersun. There isn't much to them as a band for me to say that I was ever a fan, but I do like them. I've found myself more drawn to Ensiferum. I'll give Time II a listen. Granted, I don't think any album is worth waiting over a decade for.
What if a video of you eating a shirt gets more views than all your other videos combined? Eating objects or huge amounts of food is the quickest way to get crazy famous on youtube, but the fame and fortune can be corrupting and addicting. The real question is, can you handle that level of fame?
Agree with you on the sound mixing. It's too "loud and modern". To me I love the creativity and the oriental-sound scattered throughout the album. One with Shadow and Silver Leaves are my favorite so far. I'm thinking of mixing the isolated tracks by myself so I can get more from this album. I don't really know if there are any other bands that release isolated tracks but I love the what Wintersun offers here.
Time for Uncle Melty's kitchen... just recreate on of those "is it cake or real" typ of t-shirts and eat it. It doesn't need to be actual clothing. That should be a good enough loop hole.
although I can understand why certain people didn't like the production due to the sheer amount of grandeur/production. I personally felt like I was listening to a fucking kungfu panda temple hymn, that painted intricate pictures about what they wanted to convey. Sure it's not traditional in the sense of what Time I respresented, but I still get chills listening to certain parts of these songs, I can see this being among the top 5 albums of all time for me, but I listen to a lot of atmospheric stuff like Vildhjarta. So I guess they scratched the itch of a person who didn't appreciate Time I nearly as much as Time II Silver leaves' finnish stanza was the most memorable part for me
I was actually expecting you to “pretend-eat” the T-shirt with some clever practical effects and tricks similar to how magicians do their illusions… but this is OK, too.
As a Wintersun fan, I didn't actually loved this record more than their debut album, but at least it is pretty good still, especially the band performance, they just play their asses off! (No pun intended).
You could try ropavieja. It’s a Cuban dish, made from shirts cause they had no food before, but now there’s a recipe with real food if I’m not mistaken
It’s real, it happened during the Castro regime. People didn’t have enough food, so they resorted to cooking and eating their clothes. It obviously harmed them, so it’s not done anymore, now there’s a dish with actual ingredients you can eat without, you know, dying
Damn, Doom Metal moment... I knew about Wintersun years and years and years ago.. I just never really listened to them. What album should I start with them that I might like? This reminds me of Scar Symmetry when they released Phase 1 and 2 (recently) 😅
T shirt mukbang Edit: before watching, i am fully expecting the biggest shitting of an album i will ever watch since fantano’s Big Day review… Another edit: i fucking hate myself.
This sounds salty like hell. Yes pun intended. Enjoy the music while you are eating your shirt. And no, I did not invest anything else than the price of the cd.
Hypothetically, you could buy a box of Alphabits, spell out "my t shirt" and eat those letters. Technically, you would have fulfilled your obligation, and people would have to get over it. Doesn't have to be Alphabits, choose any food item you can stomach that is distributed in the form of letters. Personally, your explanation was good enough for me, but I thought I would play the role of arbiter... 😏 Food for thought?
I knew you wouldn't eat your shirt but could you have pretended to eat it? I would've liked to see this. Oh and you remind me of your Megadeth albums review video when you said that you rather eat raw chicken, contract salmonella and die rather than relistening to Super Collider. Does that mean that you'll relisten to Super Collider if you were given the choice?
I love how eager everyone was to put your life in danger. But maybe research these things before making promises? 😅 Honestly, I don't care enough about Wintersun to make a huge deal over it. But if fans are demanding satisfaction, maybe a substitution? Maybe eat/drink something super gross that won't KILL you? Or maybe people should just get the fuck over it.
@themetalmeltdownofficial Easy for you to say, as the guy who said they would eat a shirt. Honestly though, with a little next level thinking, it might make a good Uncle Melties Kitchen episode. Leather is edible, and they make clothing out of it. There is a tasting history episode about it. He eats some in said video. You could definitely doctor it up, so it would at least taste better. They sell leather in big sheets too. So you could buy some, and have somebody turn it into a very very small shirt. Then you could dissect said shirt, then cook with it. Because you never said what the shirt would be make out of, or how big it would be, to my knowledge. So yeah, you could definitely get it done, and in a safe manor too, if you really wanted to. Although I obviously understand why you wouldnt. It would make for entertaining content, at the very least.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial It's funny cuz I didn't know anything about this band or the whole Time saga until I saw your video. So when I saw it I was like "Why is he so insistent that they won't release it?" Then I watched the video that FM did and I was like, "Oh. That's why" 😂
@@jesseleavy5841 Yeah there was PLENTY of valid reason to believe the album wasn't real and was maybe a scam, the only people who didn't think so were literally the DIEHARD Wintersun fans who were already donating money.

"Numerous crowdfunding campaigns" bro, they had 2 campaigns. The latter one was for Time 2. Never scammed anyone. Literally sold a product that was optional to buy. Try harder hater.
But why did they need it? The album was written YEARS ago and considering how the production is, it would have sounded better without that funding from the idiot fans
Don’t agree… money does not equal quality… Korn had a budget from their label of 4 million dollars to make the untouchables record… and to me that album is not good at all I know that they didn’t it ask for money for their fans for that album… but you know what m trying to say
@@rubensilva5204 Buddy there is a huge difference between a record label giving Korn $4 million to record an album in 6 months and fans donating well over a $1 million to Wintersun and being made to wait over 12 years to finally see the fruits of their labour. Like, if I'm investing in something and I have to wait over a decade to see it come to life, then its not unreasonable for me to expect it to be high quality.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial oh I’m sorry I must be stupid or something… so you’re saying that wintersun fans gave the band 1 million dollars and then had to wait 12 plus years for the release of time 2? Know the facts before you speak buddy… they did a campaign for a finished product (the forest seasons album) in 2017… they didn’t ask for nothing… us as consumers had the choice to buy or not buy their product… then in 2024 they did another campaign for time 2… these campaigns were basically pre-orders for a finished product… do some research dude because you’re talking out of your ass…
I wrote this same comment on another video. But you are so far the only one that DARES to be critical. I am a fan of Wintersun, in fact, its my favourite band. But my thiughts are next: Dont really care for the intros and interludes. Nice to listen once or twice and then left with 4 tracks. Yrah, they are long, but if feels like the are long for the sake of being long. Last 2 minutes of Storm is a total bs, literally sound of storm and some lazy ambient. First 3 minutes of Silver Leaves again some instrumental bullshit that I would just skip if if was a separate track. Last 3:30 minutes of it again the same instrumental as in the beginning and some bs noise. So that song is actually 7 minutes. Who are you guys kidding? Thats all after 8 years? i'd much rather prefer 10 tracks with 4-5 min runtime that are focused to the point.

Tinfoil hats are on sale I see. What is shady? Are you guys completely incapable of understanding what the campaigns were about?
Still think you should do it
too bad
Replace the t-shirt with an entire raw onion like an apple
I honestly was expecting a t shirt shaped cake or pie or something, that would’ve been crazy
I never knew winter sun had so much more behind them, I haven’t even listened to time 1 yet, I’ve only heard the forest seasons, I got a lot to catch up on.
I'm calling it, the next Uncle Melty's Kitchen is going to be something suspiciously T-shirt shaped 😂
Nahh, we got something better planned...
I didn’t know that eating a T Shirt could potentially kill you. Learn something new every day.
Loved their first album, other records have been just okay as you mentioned. Top tier review!
With that said, there is one thing about this album which did, legitimately piss me off:
Why did this come out BEFORE Hollow Knight: Silksong?!
Maybe could have had a cookie that's shaped like a t-shirt :P

Herzog is actually a man of his word, unlike others.....
I promise you I don't care
This is like the Jackass scene with the toy car.
I wouldnt be surprised if they made the album just to spite you
I doubt it but I would feel weirdly honored if that were so
@@themetalmeltdownofficial great video and it takes a lot of character to admit being wrong. But keep up the awesome videos
You seem like a fun person
Wow. You should get out more.
I'm regretting the thirteen seconds it took me to read this garbage comment.
I’m seeing an awful lot of talking and not a lot of painful cries of anguish from consuming a damp hot t-shirt. 😡
What if a video of you eating a shirt gets more views than all your other videos combined? Eating objects or huge amounts of food is the quickest way to get crazy famous on youtube, but the fame and fortune can be corrupting and addicting. The real question is, can you handle that level of fame?
bro's writing a whole ass movie here lmao
Agree with you on the sound mixing. It's too "loud and modern". To me I love the creativity and the oriental-sound scattered throughout the album. One with Shadow and Silver Leaves are my favorite so far. I'm thinking of mixing the isolated tracks by myself so I can get more from this album. I don't really know if there are any other bands that release isolated tracks but I love the what Wintersun offers here.
Another great video :)
You could probably make a t-shirt made out of pizza.
Make a t shirt cake and eat it. I wanna see that
bon appétit
100% agree on production
So I guess they scratched the itch of a person who didn't appreciate Time I nearly as much as Time II
Silver leaves' finnish stanza was the most memorable part for me
Grumpy Uncle Melty is the best. I rather see him eat something with a tag that says Hi my name is Shirt. Obviously, he will not eat the tag.
You have to eat a shirt 😂 it’s ok.
I was actually expecting you to “pretend-eat” the T-shirt with some clever practical effects and tricks similar to how magicians do their illusions… but this is OK, too.
I considered that ngl
Tbf I didn’t believe it was coming until they officially announced it a few weeks ago. I still think they conned their fans tho.
I have that same Anthony Bourdain book! 😊
Eat a t shirt cake lol
I even would have been cool if you ate a cake with a picture of a shirt with Time II's artwork on it? Ha ha!
How about deep fried t-shirt nuggets?
As a Wintersun fan, I didn't actually loved this record more than their debut album, but at least it is pretty good still, especially the band performance, they just play their asses off! (No pun intended).
You could try ropavieja. It’s a Cuban dish, made from shirts cause they had no food before, but now there’s a recipe with real food if I’m not mistaken
bro WHAT?
It’s real, it happened during the Castro regime. People didn’t have enough food, so they resorted to cooking and eating their clothes. It obviously harmed them, so it’s not done anymore, now there’s a dish with actual ingredients you can eat without, you know, dying
Damn, Doom Metal moment... I knew about Wintersun years and years and years ago.. I just never really listened to them. What album should I start with them that I might like?
This reminds me of Scar Symmetry when they released Phase 1 and 2 (recently) 😅
It cost less for bigger bands to make their whole discography than for this one album (allegedly).
T shirt mukbang
Edit: before watching, i am fully expecting the biggest shitting of an album i will ever watch since fantano’s Big Day review…
Another edit: i fucking hate myself.
Production on this was squeaky clean, sounded mechanical at times, Jari worry’s too much on production, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I wouldve made it into chicken nuggets
Honestly it wouldn't shock me if t-shirts were a primary ingredient in fast food/frozen chicken nuggets.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial only old band tshirts donated by boomers wives🤣
This sounds salty like hell. Yes pun intended. Enjoy the music while you are eating your shirt. And no, I did not invest anything else than the price of the cd.
Hypothetically, you could buy a box of Alphabits, spell out "my t shirt" and eat those letters. Technically, you would have fulfilled your obligation, and people would have to get over it. Doesn't have to be Alphabits, choose any food item you can stomach that is distributed in the form of letters. Personally, your explanation was good enough for me, but I thought I would play the role of arbiter... 😏 Food for thought?
you're a clever one
Hatersgonna Hate, great album 4/5
I think they should just get the fuck over it personally lmao
@@Blindashitmetalasfuck I'm not cooking or eating clothing for a multitude of reasons all mentioned in the video. It's frankly weird that I have to say this... again.

Finally someone said Drums are wayyy too clicky! Like a damn mouse click 😂 its not powerful at all. 7:40
Make a t-shirt out of rice paper. You're welcome.
If a band get millions in money from fans, then the albums after that need to be 10/10 albums.
💯
Yeah, well music is subjective so it's impossible to make an album that is 10/10 according to everyone on the planet.
Don’t agree… money does not equal quality… Korn had a budget from their label of 4 million dollars to make the untouchables record… and to me that album is not good at all
I know that they didn’t it ask for money for their fans for that album… but you know what m trying to say
The production is shite compared to the early work and sound very home produced. They probably just made a Time II to shut up the haters
Everything was already written anyway
I wrote this same comment on another video. But you are so far the only one that DARES to be critical. I am a fan of Wintersun, in fact, its my favourite band. But my thiughts are next:
Dont really care for the intros and interludes.
As a Metalcore head, I didn't even know this band existed until I heard what you thought about Time I
