  • We are facing an emergency resulting from our toxic economic and political system. The way we relate to each other and to nature is destroying Earth’s capacity to sustain life.
Unending economic growth and profits drawn from a planet with limited resources is causing gross inequality, poverty, mass misery, and species extinction.
We are sold an illusion that consumption will bring purpose and happiness into our lives, yet this systemic consumption is threatening our very existence. It is based on unjust and unethical land use and ownership, unsustainable and increasing amounts of debt and enslavement of individuals.
Power and money is concentrated in the hands of the few, while the masses struggle to simply survive. It is causing climate breakdown and biodiversity collapse.
As Greta Thunberg has been saying since the ‘Declaration of Rebellion’ last October 31:
'We can no longer save the world by playing by the rules. Because the rules have to be changed.
Everything needs to change. And it has to start today.
So, everyone out there, it is now time for civil disobedience. It is time to rebel.’

    • @heavierthanlight7173
      @heavierthanlight7173 5 років тому +32

@Marc Whitakay wrong. Science is waaay ahead, but is being stopped by big corporations. We already have enough technology and knowledge to intertwine nature with our technologies to reinforce both sides. But many greedy corps don't want those because the money will be allocated to a different technology sector, so it's being postponed for as much as they possible can. and on the other side people fear change so they go about it too carefully because of many of the following: change of the structure of their lifes, maybe they must think differently, afraid to give up stuff they already own, afraid they lack knowledge to grow with new trends. Then you have the people who think nature and men have nothing to do with climate change and don't believe we have any impact on it AND you have people that stop progression bc we come to close to some religious god and men can't be in the same level as god, so they counter progression as much as possible.
In short: If we all could collaborate on this matter globally and every nation will share it's fair part in money and resources and we all agree that measures can, must and are going to be taken without resistance of any kind of corp. or groups of people and we provide the scientists, helpers, engineers and all they need at that moment, it's not only wonderfull for the health of the world, but also for the next generation technology sectors where billions of people could actually have a job in.

It is incredible to think, that, with so much on the line, this crisis, we are all facing, is not on the top of everyone's priority list. Instead, what do we see? Greed. The hunger for power and money, that has become entirely useless to us decades ago.
We are connected, so why do we not work as one? Why is it, that survival is only second to pleasure at the cost of everything? How ignorant are we and how ignorant will we continue to be?
We are humanity. Our strength lies in cooperation. So work together for crying out loud, lest we face annihilation at our own hands.

I love the Earth, just as the majority of people do! But some corporations are still destroying the planet for PROFIT! We should not have unregulated profit at any cost! We should only have up to $1 Billion maximum total assets allowed per person! And NO MORE! If that were enforced there would be many more millionaires and $1 Billionaires. Having an absolute maximum earnable would make sense, since a free market is not a FAIR market!
We should have a FAIR MARKET, not a free market! Where in a free market, people are allowed to make any amount they want regardless of how much destruction they do! In a FAIR Market everyone would be treated as equals with hopefully the lowest wages would be $15,000 per year, subsidized by rich people and government taxes! And the highest wages would be the amount to keep any individual's total assets to $1 Billion dollars or less!
The majority of people want FAIRNESS! I want Fairness for all lifeforms on Earth and elsewhere! Fairness does NOT include unlimited profit! All Billionaires should decide to give away any amount above a billion dollars that they have in assets! They could fund 3rd world persons or they could even just line the pockets of their friends, families and employees! But the Billionaires should not keep all their money to themselves! That's Hoarding, and hoarding is considered an illness! Maybe there could be a compassion medicine, maybe from marijuana? Since that's legal in Canada now! And anyone willing to keep more than $1 Billion dollars for themselves should be prescribed to take it. To see if that would make them more compassionate.
Even Billionaires are people though, and some of what they sell may be good, so don't persecute Billionaires, just encourage them to give away anything above $1 Billion dollars in assets!
I believe in Peace and Fairness, and Heaven on Earth for all lifeforms in existence. Try to spread Heaven on Earth To all lifeforms everywhere! That would be a Noble Goal!
Thank-you! May YHWH God And Jesus Christ bless you! And May YHWH God And Jesus Christ bless the EARTH!
Thank-you YHWH (God of the Bible's original name) God, and Jesus Christ!

There is an ancient technique that was used for turning a desert back into a forest. They plant and graze animals by sections. When the animals are moved to the next section everything grows because of the ground being naturally covered by the herd of animals and restoring the ground back to normal. That tiny few in the world are now using this technique instead of burning the entire field of old crops to replant. We are going to start doing that on one of our islands.that has the entire island destroyed by the military as a test site for navy/marines. We’ve tried replanting so many native trees but nothing works because the dirt has no nutrients, soft sand like dirt, cracked underground watersheds ect. The animal grazing technique so far has slowly started to naturally restore its foundation. However, 2020 the worlds first super computer at MIT prediction has been correct and that will be the final year we have to tackle the problem. If not the destruction we’ve done will be irreversible and by 2040 the air will start to become toxic. Then by 2065 no human will be around nor will the planet be habitable to us. Sad, how the drastic over population and the big industries still are grandfathered in dumping wastes into our water and how river dams no longer serve a purpose and made certain salmon go extinct ect. People all should be taken to the heavy polluted areas, drink the polluted tap water many towns in 49 states have access to. We need to upgrade our water facilities because they don’t filter out chemicals, pharmaceutical, viruses, bacteria and drugs.

Humanity's flaws will certainly bring about an age of sorrow sooner rather than later. All we can do is soften the blow, as preventing it has long since become an option, we have let go of without a second thought. @daniel4647 5 років тому +1

Interesting that it's our nature is what drives us to destroy nature. Greed after all is a survival instinct, a very effective one. If you introduce catfish into a lake where they don't belong, they will destroy the entire ecosystem and eat everything until there is nothing left to eat at which point they too will die. A virus will eat it's host and then it will die. Every life form will expand it's territory as much as it possibly can and consume everything until there is nothing left with no regard for anything. When they're stopped it's by force, every time. There is some barrier, climate they can't survive in, another species that keep them at bay, not enough food they can eat, a physical barrier like a mountain chain or an ocean, pathogens they can't handle, whatever. Life never stops because it thinks to themselves "that's far enough, lets leave something for the rest of them", that's not a part of what life is. When we're destroying the Earth, we're acting like animals, we're following the programming of life. A real Human is someone who becomes more than just life, but most humans need to be herded because they'll never be anything more than just another life form. Once upon a time we had leaders that where real Humans, now we're just the blind trying to guide the blind out of a burning building. Will we find our way out or be consumed by the flames? Who knows, we can always hope I suppose, but it's looking pretty grim.

Werre out of oxygen otherwise in 11 years, not as they say 31 years. it's not even the planes and cars, it's the methane gases zapping our oxygen. 65% is man-made oxygen zapping animal production industries, more then all other pollutants combined. Articles minimizing animal production industries real facts are funded by those industries. Look up how millions and millions of acres are burning down right now in the rainforest in Brazil, taking our Earth's lungs for cattle grazing business. It seems not and there is no evidence that deforestation is slowing. In fact, in Scotland, in a move away from fossil fuel electricity production we built huge “biomass” power stations largely fueled by cutting down trees including importing felled virgin forest from North America! We claim “renewable or sustainable” but it is not and hardly environmentally friendly. It is so depressing.

Robert I do think we can have an industrial society, I am just sceptical that we can have a capitalist one. At the core of capitalism is never ending consumption. Companies in a capitalist economy all operate on the principle that every year they should produce more and sell more. If people aren't buying enough stuff, it becomes the job of the company of trying to convince people to consume more.
It is pretty screwed up when you got a world where people in the rich world have most of the things they need and our environment is going to hell. Yet every CEO of every company is being paid to get us to consume more. That is simply not a sustainable model for the future.
If we OTOH put technology and our industrial society at the service of nature and actual human needs rather than profits, I think we would have gotten a lot further.

The biggest problem for nature and for this planet is the incredible growth of the human population over the last 200 years. Meanwhile we are 7.7 billion people and each year there are about 80 millions more. Each of them wants a home to live and a nice life. We as humans claim the whole planet and all of it's ressources for us alone. If each family had only one child this would already be a big relief.
The next problem is our careless way of consuming with no end, every month the newest clothes, each year the newest smartphone, then the biggest car, the biggest house and so on. If everybody would live a more modest life and say to himself I don' need more - it's enough - this would already be a huge help. This is something everybody can do. Don't wait for others. BingBing BongBong that’s where you’re wrong. We have that very special thing that no other animal on this planet has, brother: Hope. With this very beautiful thing, even despite the horrible deeds happening today, we CAN and WILL help this world and ourselves. Never lose hope, man. Once we do that, we’ve truly lost both our souls and this beautiful world we have the honor of calling our home. Hope, guys.

Roid-Monger 101 you’re wrong. No one is losing hope. Some people have just accepted our fate as a failed species. The oceans are dying and many parts dead. In the past 200 years more animals have gone extinct because of humans. The Amazon burned by humans because they’re evil. Dropping nuclear bombs for kicks. We’re already passed the point of no return for carbon emissions and irreversible damage to the environment as a whole. Corrupt governments that kill their own citizens to justify war. In order for the world to prosper humans need to step down as the dominant species on this planet.
In order for any change to happen in our ability to work together as a whole something catastrophic must occur. Is that not sad? The fact that our very existence must be at risk in order for us to work together? It’s pathetic actually.
Mother Nature will have her revenge. And I’ll be there to say, “you reap what you sow.”

That's not true at all. We're still far from reaching a point of no return that would wipe us out. As terrible as climate change is, we will overcome it. We've only gotten this far because of our unbreakable will and our scientific problem solving. It will carry us through climate change, through the singularity, and mankind will continue to prosper for countless years to come. There may be some who have made catastrophic decisions for our planet, but for every one of them there are hundreds of people now rising up to take them on. How about instead of bitching about the worst of us, you join the good fight with the best of us.

First of all, you said Muslims "bread" like wild fire. Bread.
Now to correct you, actually 3.7 billion poor people in the world emit nearly no emissions. And the top 10 percent are western nations. That top ten percent is causing almost all of the pollution. In other words, the "white people" that will be extinct, according to you. Are you seriously trying to tell me the Muslims who are mostly poor are at fault. Look into your mirror. It's the west. Guess what, most Muslims probably don't have a mirror to look at. Entire families in the middle east produce a fraction of what the US produces.
      China: 27.2% global emissions.
      USA: 14.6% global emissions.
      Vs majority Muslim countries:
      Iran: 1.9% global emissions.
      Saudi Arabia: 1.8% global emissions.
Khaled and Mariam seven children that live in mud houses in the desert, who drink camel milk directly from the tit and eat from one massive bowl of rice or locally growing goods are at fault for the average western household that drinks milk in gallons from plastic bottles, that throw away one third of their food because they can afford to, drive cars up and down massive roads of asphalt and move around the globe with high impact airplanes. And then the west has so much trash that they shove it down Asian throats. Not only that, you shoved your entire production of goods into China. Why else would most things in American shelves come from there?
America is 3.9 times larger than the population of Germany, yet it produces 6.6 times more emissions. If America was producing the same amount of CO2 emissions scaled to their population size, it should only equal to 3.9 times more emissions, not 6.6.

Now to correct you, Steve Veatch actually 3.7 billion poor people in the world emit nearly no emissions. And as we know, poor people tend to have the most children. Yet, look at this difference in emissions:
India has a population of 1.3 billion.
America has a population of 327 million.
India produces 6.8% of global emissions.
India is four times larger than America, yet America produces double the amount of emissions as the USA.
Greed, laziness, lack of discipline, that's what caused all of this. We are throwing away one third of all food and have rampant obesity in western nations. And you're telling me those land whales should be eating what could provide for the growth of two children at least. All that grain used for donuts could be used for bread. All that meat being thrown away by massive companies like McDonalds could feed the world and end hunger. But saving people isn't financially interesting. You cower away from the truth. And that truth is that that man on the pedestal is an actor. That man owns airplanes. "eight or nine" motorbikes. "four or five" BMWs. "A couple" of Harleys. "A couple" of Hondas and a Triumph.
And you're telling me you believe this man cares?

Our farming methods leave cities destitute high and dry for pure ground water. With bad tap water city people become a hostage market to the bottling industry a boom market for plastic bottle producers.
Plastic trash keeps piling up by the tons. Just the mass transport plastic bottles and the oil in raw form needed for processing into plastic is a polluter of significant magnitude.
