Total bullshit, you delusional wanker. Contrary to what you and some other morons seem to think, you don't get any points for 6 again, and there was no guarantee the Raiders would have scored. If my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a bicycle, and if there'd been 6 again, there may have been an intercept and a 100 metre try. Everybody who was watching - except for a small number of drooling imbeciles - knows that that's the way the cookie crumbles, and the Roosters won. Trent Robinson was defensive because his team won, but people were trying to make out that they didn't.

Justin Simonet came off of the Canberra 14’s shoulder, its was give and last, the ref stuffed it by calling six again. It pisses me off that such focus is placed on it. Canberra can only think what could have been, I’m guessing Melbourne will have been thinking the same from finals week one. The refs reversed an incorrect and have made the game look bad, but at the end of the day the Raiders had plenty of chances, they did have the Roosters on the back foot for alot of the second half and were never able to convert any of the possession into points. Theres no guarantee they score in that set. Hypothetically they get the six again, lets say the Roosters defend the set and Raiders hand over possession. BJ Leilua can still make that defensive error that allowed the roosters to get to the other end and score. There are alot of what ifs that can go around and it’s unfortunate so much focus is being placed on this decision.

I think the ball coming off the Roosters trainer at the beginning of the match was way more devastating. Had he not been there the Raiders would have scored unopposed under the posts. As it happened the Roosters were given the ball back on half way, scored and pretty soon it was 8-0 to their favour rather than 6 points in arrears. That’s a 14 point tourn around. All the stats - possession, you name it - favoured the Raiders after 80 minutes + they had an extra man for 10 minutes. To be frank, the Raiders have their ineffective attack to blame. The controversy shouldn't take anything away from the Roosters deserved win, but it makes great copy to pursue it because the 'underdog gets hard done by' outrage sells clicks.

Its actually not that complicated an issue and the referees boss and the on ground officials are back pedaling and saying the incorrect call was changed to the correct call and "last play " was yelled 4 times.
    That's all irrelevant.
The only time a referee can reverse a signal or a whistle being blown, either intentionally or accidentally is at "broken play"...so for example at the formation of a scrum , when ball has left the field, etc.
Rules allow for a referee for example after a knock on to indicate with his arm which team has the loose head and feed. He can change the decision about which team feeds the scrum for example.
What you cannot do as the controlling referee is to "reverse" an arm action or whistle blow.
If you err as the referee did in the GF you are obligated to pack a scrum and give the feed to the team with territorial advantage. Won't necessarily be the team in possession but during this GF incident obviously it was Canberra with the territorial advantage so should have in exactly the same way that Roosters got to feed a scrum after the ball hit the trainer, Canberra feed.
Here's some questions to put to the Referees Director.....so if you are saying that it's only an unfortunate incident but the referee was correct in changing his call.....what's your ruling on these scenarios.
The referee accidentally blows the whistle but upon doing so immediately yells out "no play on, play on, play on, play on ". Is that a scrum feed or play on as the referee has shouted. ? We both know the answer....it's a scrum.
Question 2....Reverse the referee call on grand final night....bomb comes down and he makes the call "not touched, still the last ". Canberra player during the motion of being tackled 1 metre out from the tryline pocket referee yelling"it was touched, 6 again", and main referee waves 6 more. But half the Roosters didn't hear the 6 more or see the arm action. They've relaxed knowing it's a handover and take a moment to set themselves for an attacking set to get out of their end. In the meantime Canberra play the ball quickly and dummy half dives over to claim a try......again, the CORRECT ruling in this instance is try disallowed but scrum feed to Canberra, 10 metres out.
By YOUR interpretations Director of refereeing you would actually be incorrectly awarding the try.

Andrew Wakley. I understand where you are coming from with the first part, however i dont know the rule to agree or disagree. I don’t know where you’re getting these rules? You are acting like they’re definitive rules in these grey areas of the game, particularly this one of a ref mishearing are another ref or touchy.
In the “NRL ales and interpretations” (a PDF file found with google search)
There no detailed outline of these rules your so certain about
Or are you saying because it doesn’t say “he can change his call” then he’s. It allowed
It’s actually the opposite if it doesn’t say he “HAS TO STICK TO EVERY CALL REGUARDLESS OF ALL CIRCUMSTANCES BE IT A MISHEARING ETC” then he has the discretion to do so
Ultimately it’s up to his discretion if there’s no definitive rule
It’s just funny that everyone has an opinion when these anomalies come up in the game, but no one looks at the rulebook and campaigns for it to be change to a more stricter one where every single scenario is written down.
The issue here is that Jack didn’t hear ref not the change of call, so I agree if there’s a reverse yeah maybe pack a scrum but that’s not the best solution cause it disadvantages the team with momentum,
Change the rule sure but Cummins was fine by EXSISITNG rules
You are upset about rules not the ref(Cummins decision)

@@aarongoodchild5040 sorry i should have been more specific. The "rules" I was referring to aren't the rules of the game but rather the Referees Officiating Rules Book.
Haven't got my copy on me so can't give you a page number but it's essentially the referee's bible.
Explains in detail correct signaling and how to officiate a game.
There's a small section on what to do in the event of refereeing error and I know from memory includes examples such as blowing the whistle accidentally and an incorrect call during the run of play. It's not the rule book of the game of league as per sec but it is used by referees for example during grading exercises to work your way up to becoming a Level 4 referee. For example on grading nights the Director of Refereeing in my zone would go through scenarios and you had to indicate what action you would take on the field.
To be fair to the NRL they might (and probably should have) in the past made an effort to explain to everyone that their referees and touch judges operate in different guidelines to the 5000 amateur rugby league games on a weekend because they have the benefits of a review system out of the 'bunker' and a second pocket referee.
Even little things like where touch judges are standing at tap restarts are different from what you see on TV to other grade football.
It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if the NRL had 30 minutes of TV next year at the commencement of the season just going through how decisions are made and the level of interaction between the officials and the reviews. That's why in my earlier post I suggested it should be the Director of NRL referees to answer my questions. He might actually say I'm very wrong and unlike the 5000 other games of grade football each weekend NRL referees CAN in fact blow whistles and change their minds. He was pretty certain about the change of arm signaling during play being acceptable so maybe that needed to be stressed. There's a lot of people who's only experience with rugby league is what they watch on TV but equally there's tens of thousands who have been involved in junior or grade football for years and the contrast in interpreting rules and watching the sport.....at times it's almost like it's a different game.
      Hope this makes more sense??

      Andrew Wakely fair enough
But we have to take your word there’s a handbook that if binding by the “2019 NRL laws and interpretations”
That it’s not out of date
That these procedures in the refs handbook are the “rules” and not just proceedures IE touchie has to stand at point X and if he doesn’t it’s a rule that he can’t make a call etc
Seems convenient to say it’s in the ref’s book but I can’t dispute it cause it’s not accessible/you can’t find it etc
Either way though I agree with you they should have a better, more detailed rules book, and have a large people vote on it(not just a handful of people)
I agree it should have been a whistle blown if ref makes a mistake or it hits a trainer- I say just restart the play the ball of the tackle,
Point is these are good ideas but they are not in the rules “nrl laws and interpretations” so it seems your problems is that they are not in there
At the end of the day- the current ruling is Refs have final call. True they get it wrong at times but to be honest changing it to the right call is soo much better than sticking with the howler that everyone knows was wrong
This was not a howler, people think it’s a howler only cause rooster scored next set, no try no problems

You are just like the Raiders having a cry about a bad call, instead of defending the next set of six. They were out of position because they were busy complaining about the call rather than getting into the defensive line.
By your physical nature why are you still even watching now, there’s been bad calls all year, and this call did not cost them the game it was their inability to keep professional and mature and defend the opposing team on their own(roosters 10m line) 10 m mind you, it’s the sooking to the ref that changed the momentum not the call
They had defended final game, but if you look at the footage you say the Raiders just standing around when it’s cleared the decision had been overturned

Ed sorry misunderstood, I would disagree though. The 2 refs aren’t bad the mis hearing/communicating between the two refs is what was bad,
What about just restarting the last tackle if there is an anomaly, like hitting a trainer or a ref mistaking something. The two ref System picks up more and faster, meaning we don’t have to go to the bunker for anything the one roof doesn’t miss. But maybe if he wanted to change the six again call, he could just blow the whistle take it back to where the kick was blown and start that as a fifth tackle?
The rules aren’t that bad it’s just every now and then there are unique situations that come up like a player running into a ref etc. just don’t feel we should change the rules for 99.9% of the game when it’s only those rare occasions that there is confusion.

Bateman KNOWS THE CALL hand over as he looks at ref see him run past and just PUT HEAD DOWN AND GOES TO BALL

Hindsight being 20/20, perhaps his private thinking now is that having made the mistaken 6-again call which the Raiders acted on he (Cummins) should have maintained that ruling to mitigate the type of public uproar that might eventuate from its reversal...which is exactly the thing that is happening presently.

Exactly right he should have stuck with his original 6 again call, because one it was probably the right call anyway but even if there was a 50/50 element to the call at least he made the call and stuck with it. To change his call while the Raiders were running and attacking they aren't going to see that or hear that with the crowd the way they were so he's compounded the situation by changing his mind. Roosters coach wasn't even man enough to admit that his team got incredibly lucky in that moment due to a referee blunder, and that this blunder probably determined the outcome of the match.
Instead he chose to get all passive-aggressive with one of the sport's all-time greats, simply for asking a pertinent question.

    • @jackknight4020

Wil Sargisson passive-aggressive for sure, I yet if JT was asked the same question if he was on both the losing side or winning side he would give an honest and genuine answer no matter how his side would finish.

This still fires me up. Like nrl still hasn’t apologised or changed rules. U can’t change the call while the play is still going. Why should players have to check more then one time to see if the ref has changed his mind,

  • @francosoliman103

Canberra totally dominated the roosters in the 2nd half. The ref did call last tackle but the signal told the world, ` Six more tackles to go.' It was confusing to the Canberra players. The better team Lost. And that`s a fact.

Ha! The green team was confused by the umpire, and the French team capitalised on the situation and scored a touchdown. Rugby is a most crazy sport. We are also playing it in India, but it is not very popular. We prefer cricket and we have a wonderful team!

  • @PaulShandWalker

I think the big thing to come out of this "6 again" moment, is not that he called 6 again, then reversed it to "still the last", is that if you listen to Ben Cummins voice, he DOESN'T say "6 again", he says "IS THAT 6 AGAGIN"?? - like he's asking the other ref to make the call for him. This is why it needs to go back to 1 ref. It's why we take an eternity to make a call on a try, because, no one is prepared to make the call, knowing that the ref can look to the other ref, or video ref to make the call for him. So this is where the NRL need to STOP pandering to everyone, and go back to 1 ref, and get rid of the video ref, or if they insist on the video ref, then each team is only allowed 1-2 times per half or game to use it. But I'd rather no video, 1 ref, and we live and die by the decisions made in the heat of battle, no of this slow motion BS, did Cooper tackle Papali a micro second before he had the ball, lets slow it down to super, slo mo to check. No wonder the NRL is losing to AFL, soccer, and International sports for viewership!

I'm a big fan of this game, and who ever wins or lose it would have been great being a grand final, it felt the momentum was taken away from the raiders then the roosters then raiders again. With Cronk sin bin, then an interference with a rooster trainer, and the big 6 again call. Why not call it as you see it like back in the day, or benefit of the doubt, cctv and two refs calling then over riding the decesion is completely stupid. Overall good win Roosters, hard luck Raiders build off this. I'm a Warrior fan thanks💯🇳🇿😎

In future - maybe give the attacking side one more play the ball. So stop play, the refs apologize, Wighton gets to play the ball as a re-set 5th and last. That way, at least you've acknowledged the stuff up, addressed it, and it's fair play.

Everyone is saying raiders should of won. Raiders where not good enough. Simple as that they had plenty of chances but couldnt crack the roosters defence even with 12 man. Roosters got half a chance and scored. Thats the difference. But no one will talk about the qualities shown by the roosters and everyone will talk about a call made by the ref.
Why, because when people or teams are on top they start developing a lot of haters. So people will say anything to take the credit away from the Roosters when they clearly deserved their success.
