I would go for Grand Edition. The only thing I really prefer from the original over GE is the soundtrack. Grand Edition has some much needed improvements from the original along with a TON of additional content in story, quest items, and battle mechanics. Grand Edition all the way! 😎

Its so crazy bro. I always loved this game. I still play it but its a rom on the playstation emulator on my phone. It dont let me pick the country i want though like when i used to play on the actual playstation console. It only lets me pick orange. But it lets me beat it. Do you know if theres a full version as a rom somewhere? Id like to play as a different country
One thing you should warn people about if they play Empire is NEVER send the death knight on a quest. He wont return, and they will lose their most powerful character, and as hard as it is to play the empire with enemies on all fronts, they will need him.
Why are videos about Brigandine almost nonexistent on UA-cam? This game is phenomenal, one of my all time favorites. Cool video series man.

I just found this lp in 2024, 9 years after you made it, and I'm glad to see you're still uploading because I wanted to tell you that it's an awesome lp, your love and enthusiasm for this game are great to see and I share them 100%. New Almekia makes for such a cool playthrough because it's always a blast seeing how the enemies have no answer to the salamander haha!

I really love this game. A long time ago my friend gave me some of his PS1 games and at home I began trying to play them all. Little did I know I would really enjoy this game. I like the gameplay elements, the knight and the monster leveling stuff, the different factions and the story itself. Nowadays I play the Grand Edition one because it offers faster gameplay w/ 2d animation but I always come back to the original game Legend of Forsena because of the amazing soundtrack.

i really like the game and it worked , until i realize that i cant save the game, can anyone help ? it says not enough blocks when i want to save the game.
Your memory card is full. You need to delete files or make a new card. I assume you're using ePSXe to play? You can also use Save states by pressing F1 to save and F3 to load.
Norgard are my favorite also not only because they reminds me of Stark house from Game Of Thrones :D but also because my favorite character from the whole game is Noie! I always reach the final upgrade with her - Sage (level 30)! The other two possibilities - witch and saint I never choose for her cause the Sage looks beautiful and can give power to the units which is very important! This game is amazing man! Nice vid :)

Funny, after 20 years still in the list of my favorites, along with games like Mass Effect, Stalker, Deus Ex , the Dark mod, Xenogears and XCOM and as great as XCOM is as a turned based strategy, it has never really matched the thrill of some of the epic battles I remember in Brigandine. Always played as Leonia. So much charm and unforgettable music.
It's great that it's stuck with us all these years isn't it? Xenogears is my 2nd favorite game of all time and will be coming to the channel soon. I've also got a completed Leonia LP on here and am currently Live Streaming Leonia on Grand Edition during the weeks. Drop by and say hello if you have the time. :)
True. Brigandine and Xenogears were just so addictive. Xenogears had been my favorite rpg until Mass Effect. i think i bought Brigandine on a friday afternoon and i played that right through until about 5am the next morning and it's the only time i ever did that, playing as Leonia was a challenge, although they had a great defensive location, they had the weakest starting units, i remember it was terrifying early to mid game going up against the stronger countries and the dread and the fear of losing those higher level units which took so long to level up, losing a phoenix to a fairy stick tap in the last move of the battle is a horrific feeling. i hope to get the chance to check out the Leonia livestream and more of the other LPs and many thanks for keeping these amazing games alive and well.
Kinda randomly stumbled on the new game coming to switch. I heard there was a PS1 game that it's a sequel to so I figured I'd watch some gameplay. This looks really cool. I'm sad I missed this game when I was younger. Can't wait to play the new game either way. Maybe I'll even download this one on an emulator.
They both use very similar mechanics so playing both can't hurt 😎👌. There's also a remake of this one called Grand Edition released in 2000. I have several LPs of that one as well on my channel.

That's usually a bad ROM file. Try getting it from either Doperoms or Emuparadise.
Much love for this game in my younger years. Finding this makes me wanna play all over again. Norgard and Iscalio are the tops in my book. Cardinal+Necromancer Camden is a boss!

@@TheStellarArcade one of my favorite classes. But really meteor doom is what it's all about. I've done a champion avenger Kiloph. Health recovery, and cricital % increase on one of the highest hp and highest strength characters. With my monster combo he could solo wreck maps.
Kiloph definitely has the potential to do basically anything he wants. One of my favs to raise. Have you leveled him in Grand Edition at all?

where to download that game that works well for coolrom is not good the game does not let you select the kingdoms
Are you booting the cue file instead of the bin file? Should work just fine. Unless your Rom is corrupt, I would try a different source. Or you can try the Duckstation emulator. It's much more up to date.
Wow - I got this along with my PS1 for my 13th birthday. I was too dumb to understand it back then and I'm afraid I might still be 22 years later. I would always turn it on because I loved the music and art so much, but I was just so confused I'd turn it off :(

Norgard is my favorite faction as well, and yes I will be doing every faction, however I haven't been able to get the code to work in order to play as Esgares on an emulator. Console works perfectly fine, but emu doesn't process it for some reason. I'll look into it.

If you decided to attack castle but the faction in that castle decides to attack another castle in same turn then what happens ?
When you initiate the attack phase, what takes priority is completely random. There have been some theories that attacking a single castle from TWO different castles will increase the chance that you will attack first, or even if you attack with more than 3 squads. These haven't been confirmed anywhere that I know of. I've attacked 2 to 1 before, several times, but the opponent was able to attack first, wherever they decided to go.
Simple answer, it's completely randomized.

I managed to clear on normal with New Almekia. Was bit annoying chasing the enemy at times till i got control over the map.
But i didnt like my performace cos Lance didnt even get to 20 at the end. I'll try the other factions and hard mode as well.
How to config HD mode for this game in ePSXe 2.05? And extend the playing time more than years 220?

You can't extend the years unless playing on easy or Multiplayer.

my question is do you have recommendation for each class? and mixing class affecting that chara growth stats or not? like for example i raise priest and switch it into mage

A great question! I'll leave my recommendations here:
Wizard x Cardinal
(Master Cardinal first, then change to Wizard and stay there. You'll have access to all spells from both classes).
Avenger x Ninja
(An Avenger with Hit & Away is crazy)
Witch x Saint
(Same scenario as Wizard. Master Saint, stay at Witch for all spell access)
Those are some of the best, but definitely experiment with more! There's so many things you can do. Cheers! 😎🤙

I just wanna see the esgares playthrough man - you can play 1v3 matches with Zemekis and Cador.
I know the code worked on my emulator but I use a controller. You could also download a save file of Esgares that starts on week 1.
Also, also. Brigandine:Grand Edition allows you to outright play as Esgares...and has more monsters plus FMVs.
You can find my Esgares LP in my Playlists. Currently going through GE LPs atm Live streaming. And yes, I'm definitely aware of the code and that the Empire is playable in GE. I've already finished 2 LPs of GE with Leonia and Norgard. Currently Live Streaming Iscalio.

best game ever I always used North and took my hole crew and moved east taking them out and south out so easily.
Oh yes! That's one of the easiest paths. You should try taking the West first next time, then the center for a harder playthrough.
THIS GAME DESERVE TO GET A REMAKE
If you have a Nintendo Switch, go to the shop and search Brigandine. It's not a Remake but a Brand New Brigandine game has a Demo you can play right now. Official Release Date for the new game is June 25th.

Leonia's stock officers are just better at everything if you work em from the ground up.
With the sequel coming soon, I had the hankering to return to the original. However, I wanted to see if there was a let's play of it since it is a rather niche title. Glad there is... though I want to biff past me for certain elements that I completely glossed over, but aside that: Am I the only one that ever saw the Golem body as making a kissy face? You know... puckered lips and all?

Did you ever figure out how to get the empire to work on emulator? Just finished my norgard play through and managed to getting the satan upgrade from the item. Was fun.
COREYDEER, when you open your game you should have 2 files to choose from, a bin file and a cue file. If you open the cue file you'll be able to enter in the code to play the empire. if you don't have a cue file then you'll have to download Brigandine from romhustler.net
Lemme know if things work out.
I tried doing what I have found online with the cue file and isnt working. Can you just tell me what you did? I seen you have a lp on the empire.

If you still can't enter the code after watching my tutorial then lemme know. If you need the code, it's L2+R1+Start on the character selection screen. I'm very late, and it might have been asked before, but...what are the three spaces under the level of characters ? Some start with it more or less filled, and some have none.
Is it related to mastery or something ?
Oh! Those are their elemental affinities. It determines how much damage they do against other colors and how much damage they reduce. In this version, Red and Blue oppose each other and so does White and Black, so more damage. Colors that are the same resist each other. Green resists itself too but isn't strong against any color.
In Grand Edition, they changed it to a Rock Paper Scissors scenario. Red beats Green, Green beats Blue, Blue beats Red. Resistance worked in the opposite direction of that. White and Black still opposed each other.

I usually put all of my knights in one castle at the first turn and organize their monsters. But that's just me. :) Gonna be watching this lets play for a while, Brigandine is one of my favorite games, both me and my father love this. We even play this at the same time (Me at PC emulator, he on psone [Because he dont know how to use emulator LOL], we play the same country and challenge and compare playthroughs and see who finishes earlier, who had the most maxed level knights and monsters etc. Hahaha good old days.
+Andi Lopena It's funny that you mention putting everyone at the Capital on the first turn to Organize, because I do that a lot off screen too, hehe. The only reason I would not do that is to simply try my best to get Schutleis.

I've had it downloaded for about a month-and-a-half I just haven't took the time to actually learn how to play it. When I turned it on I realized I was over my head. I understand some strategic games like Super Robot Wars easy stuff. Also played a little bit of "let us cling together" and Final Fantasy Tactics. Really liked what I did understand on those. Then there is one called Romancing the Three Kingdoms 6. Jesus good God 😯😯😫😫🤯🤯that's completely out of my league look interesting though.

Much appreciate the support! Yea, the game I wouldn't say is for beginners, but if you've played FF Tactics, this won't be too hard for very long. In fact, Tactics has way more depth than Brigandine has, but the replay value is just as good. I'll be releasing a Tutorial Series on it after I finish my final Playthrough. The basic concept you need to know right off the bat is to always have a team of 3 squads in each castle that is adjacent to an enemy castle. You can summon monsters at each castle and each leader can only hold up to so much depending on their Rune Power value. I'd get familiar with the status screen of Leaders and Monsters so you can plan accordingly how your squads are going to look. After you figure out how to put decent teams together, then it's all a matter of balancing invasions and defenses. I'm happy to answer any questions prior to the tutorial series if you have any. ;)

This game is one of underrated PSX one gems, such as Threads of Fate, Torneko TLH, Breath of Fire III< Tactics Ogre... etc. The battle tactics now seems understandable to me, but, organizing part was... meh. Also, notice - even when country is defeated, the dialogs dont give clear proof of leaders' deaths. Instead, they are like "stayed alive, but ceased fight" (Leonia, Dryst). thanks 4 great LP and tactics. And completely agreed about music. The PSX music did such great masterpieces as Resident Evil, Chrono Cross the masterpieces.
Thanks for watching man! Yes, there's so many classics that don't get the attention they deserve. Hopefully I can pull in a bigger audience for Brigandine. The deaths of leaders are not sound I agree, but maybe several of them simply secede their power and live among the people or isolate themselves somewhere off the continent. Interesting scenarios indeed. Organizing phase can be tedious at times, especially when trying to manage an overabundance of Rune Power. It takes several playthroughs in order to grasp all organization aspects. Glad you enjoy the videos. Stay tuned for many more to come! ;)

When I discovered this game on this Sunday while downloading BoF IV, I wasn't expecting how hellish it is to get Xp for the weaker and low mobility monsters on hard difficulty during my 2 days learning things without reseaching.
I really had no choice of using xp 65,000 cheats "attacked & attacking (this is too maxed level 30)" just for my 8 fairies , 8 unicorns , 3 golems and 2 giants just to evolve them because fairies & unicorns have low damage outputs with better mobility while the golems & giants with mid damage and low mobility unless I have the right human class to use dmg up (1 turn) , float for extra mobility (duration for the match) and Mp consumption.
I know it's not the honorable way but within 2 days from 8 hrs playthrough due too auto play, I had to restart the game that I lost my best monsters & 3 castles because my party is a bunch of cowards to retire in 3-4 turns. If I had research for brigandine LoF, I might not have turn for a easier solutions.
You absolutely cannot Auto this game and expect good results. The AI is garbage. It's also not too difficult to gain EXP with low level units if you're positioning is proper on the battlefield. Pixies and Unicorns grow quick enough without having to use them physically for kills, because they are consistently using their supportive abilities. Golems and Giants are more difficult to level because of their low accuracy, but they are meant to be walls primarily. If they get good counter hits and evolve from that then it's a nice plus. I'd put more effort into evolving Dragons than I would Golems and Giants for your frontline units.
@@TheStellarArcade well the best is the wyverns 7-7 mobility while the last forms to bahamuts 6-6 mobility but packing a 4-5 hex range blast. I realized the under performance monsters are the greatest when evolved.
Had too grind for Mana the more castle that are conquered and now I've got 1 demon & 2 angels which are now 1 demon2 & 2 seraphim which both are life savers.

It's much to niche of a game unfortunately. But we did get a new Brigandine title for switch! That was a huge moment for the fans.
Now this is a sign for me to really get a switch! At first i thought zelda would finally bring me over to buy switch. But meh, not enough pull.. but hearing this would surely bring me to get a switch! Man.. i miss lance, zemikis, vaynard, new almekia soo much! How i wish i didn't sold my ps1! 😭😭
