Hi everyone...some of you keep forgetting or don't realise that Nando and Roberto (the real survivors) were hired consultants to make the film as "real life" and accurate to the truth as possible. To me that sort of bravery to dig up their old memories to help a film director make a film of such a horrific time is beyond commendable and admirable. That being said the film was made as best as it could've been. It was even filmed at over 11,000' in the Canadian Rockies for realism.
Not sure about Roberto, but Nando has also written a book and co-authored another book, and he’s given several interviews and has appeared on documentaries about this experience. It’s truly incredible, the strength he has shown over the years.

I've just watch this & I can't stop my tears out of my eyes. What a courage they have especially to the 2 guy who crossed the Andes to seek help. Truly this film will be watch over & over again. Oh sorry for my English..
They fudged the truth just a little. They had actually already heard that morning on their radio that the two guys were found and that they would probably be rescued soon. But one of the guys did actually accompany the rescue party to help locate them as shown. Even so, must have been amazing when it finally happened...
To be fair they heared about Nando and Canessa being found the same day that both reached The Maitenes. But rescue hellicopters where send to the crash site the next day because the bad weather in the mountains, so at least existed an 24 hours of delay between the survivors hearin in the radio that Nando and Canessa were found and the point in wich they got rescued from the Andes. Besides in the past they received bad hopes from the same radio, for example the survivors did two crosses to mark they positions, one alongside the tail of the plane and the other on the fuselage. Later they heared in the radio that some planes found a "Cross in the mountains" and the survivors where overwelmed by this and waited a rescue that same day. But days later they heared in the radio that the cross found in the mountains was build by a scientific group of Chile to measure the movment of the snow (or so). A critical hit for the survivors that made them cautious of what they heared in the radio in the future. So by the time they heared of Nando and Canessa being found, they took that with care and since no news of a rescue where heared that same day they tough it was "another mistake". Of course by the time passing they heared more and more news that confirmed what they hoped to be true. They also prepared themselves for the rescue, one of them (Vizintin I think) shaved himself to look "good and clean" for the rescue team, but when the helicopters reached the crash site only ONE of them decended to rescue the survivors due to the bad conditions of the wind, forcing them to finish the rescue the next morning. So almost 16+ hours later the remaining survivors where evacuated from the site.
Let's remember, that these people had endured false hope for the longest time. So it doesn't take away from such an incredible feeling to finally see for their own eyes, the helicopters coming to save them.
Another historical tidbit. When they found the plane only rescued 7 out of 14 survivors, as they didn’t have the room in the helicopters. The ones who were in the worse shape left the first day, and the rest were picked up the following morning.

One of the survivors wrote a book called “Miracle in the Andes.” On first hearing of this story, you might deduce with good reason that what happened to these men is the antithesis of a miracle, but after reading the book, I was left with an extraordinary feeling of optimism, inspiration and hope. The book, for me, sits alongside It’s A Wonderful Life and the Shawshank Redemption as three works of art serve as a reminder to be mindful of the things you have, and the capacity of the human soul to exercise power over how life is perceived. That is how I interpret so called “messages of hope.” Not so much that things will get better, but that there are things in my life right now that I frequently overlook as wonderful and as gifts.
"...and we will walk to the green valleys of Chile...". The line 'breached the Andes' just does not justify the achievement, such a film of hope and horror combined.

This is why you never stop looking for plane crash accidents because you never know if there are survivors. If it wasn't for the two who hiked down the mountains they would be dead.
The list of movies guaranteed to start my waterworks is very, very short. This one is near the top, especially due to this scene. What a well-earned payoff. "Alive" is one of the greatest and most honest fact-based dramas Hollywood has ever produced, thanks to Frank Marshall's dedication to the truth as recorded in Read's book and the survivors' recollections; Shanley's tight script; and JN Howard's epic score.
"MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay - Jose Luis Inciarte has twice beaten the odds. Twenty-one years ago, he was one of 16 rugby players and fans who survived a plane crash and 70 days of freezing weather in the high Andes. Late Thursday, he told a radio station he had won a $2.5-million New Year’s lottery prize. Inciarte’s wife, Soledad, said Friday that 11 family members who pitched in 1,500 pesos ($450) for lottery tickets will share the jackpot. Each will receive the equivalent of about $160,000 after taxes." Los Angeles Times
In 1987 we left Argentina crossing the Andes to Canada, at one point on the plane the plane went through a big air gap, my mother hugged me tightly, I was only 5 years old, I saw the fear in my mother's eyes and I said... It's time.
This was filmed on the Delphine glacier in British Columbia. I skied up there 2 years ago and the cross has fallen over but it's still there on the ridge.

In the real crash, no one was happy hugging or cheering they were to weak. Broken bones, malnutrition, frostbites, starvation damn. Should have shown gruesome but still a good story.
i just recently re read the book and watched the movie. given what these people went thru to survive the worst ever situation and they made it..Why? because of their belief of a higher power and their WILL TO SURVIVE...

I come back to this video to try to gain some semblance of what it's like to be truly happy again..
この映画が最高傑作です。
Imagine if the guy who was on the helicopter hanging just fell lol
It worried me too, lol... I hate my thoughts.. 😅 The story would be different then.
@@adamrizqy6977 You know canessa didnt go back to the crash site. He had dissentry. Nando had to go in the chopper to lead them back

@@shezadahmed9217 I didn’t mean it in a bad way i was just really unsafe
Aaron Neville had the most amazing voice
To me this is the best sung Ave Maria
The only one that makes me cry....
......cry because it reminds me of those lives lost.

This is why you never stop looking for plane crash accidents because you never know if there are survivors. If it wasn't for the two who hiked down the mountains they would be dead.
And no one would ever know what they endured for months. A frightening thought.
Love this movie
3:08 The sadest ending movie ever! :'(
Very moving 🤗
A masterpiece
Seeing that cross on the mountain gives me chills and tears
In 1987 we left Argentina crossing the Andes to Canada, at one point on the plane the plane went through a big air gap, my mother hugged me tightly, I was only 5 years old, I saw the fear in my mother's eyes and I said... It's time.
Watched this this film many times based on a true story ending music is brilliant 😊
This was filmed on the Delphine glacier in British Columbia. I skied up there 2 years ago and the cross has fallen over but it's still there on the ridge.
What mountain is that in the scene with the cross ?
@@dmmchugh3714 Mt Delphine is in the back ground. The cross is sitting on a small sub-ridge across from the peak. Here's the coordinates for the cross if you'd like to go find it yourself 50.46139453118424, -116.41661560489037.
In the real crash, no one was happy hugging or cheering they were to weak. Broken bones, malnutrition, frostbites, starvation damn. Should have shown gruesome but still a good story.
The ending is so emotional
Awesome scene !!!!
Just like how God answers our prayers 🙏🙏❤️
Watching the behind the scenes of this and seeing the real Nando inside the recreated plane must have been tough
“Pass me another hunk of co-pilot.”
Hi , I bet that was so hard , brillent ! Thank god that they were some who sufficed to tell story , it melted my heart . There is a god 🥶😭😭😭😭😭😭
i just recently re read the book and watched the movie. given what these people went thru to survive the worst ever situation and they made it..Why? because of their belief of a higher power and their WILL TO SURVIVE...
Not all of them believed in a higher power. Nando actually became agnostic after this tragedy. He talks about it in the book that he wrote.
For the gringos the song : “Maria Gracia Plena” means “Mary, Full of Grace”. It means a very strong spiritual phrase for every catholic south american.
Mr Garrison: "Well I'm still taking home some Eric Roberts in a doggie bag!"
3:10 ave Maria 🥶
I was waiting for the moment they all say "No thanks to the plane, many of are still.......ALIVE!!"
Ethan Hawke best movie great ending
One of the best, true natural disaster movies ever made. ♥️
What a film!!!!!
This is one of my favourite movies of all time. It disappoints me how low the reviews are for it on imdb. But we all have our own opinion don't we. And we all know...
