This reminds me of riding with my mates in the mid 80s , crap bikes , breaking down all the time . Jeans and leather jacket , camping gear in bin bags strapped to the bikes , wet and cold , ahhhhh those where the days 😂😂😂
Jesus man what adventure! Most of us with our fancy ADV bikes and expensive gear wouldn't do that. And there you go with your 30 yo old beater yammie wearing jeans and leather jacket 😅. Huge respect and thank you for sharing this very entertaining video. Iceland looks stunning.
Thank you for your amazing comment. I actually feel like it’s easyer to do this with a bike like this as the stakes of dropping or crashing are not that bad. As the last crash would have probably absolutely destroyed any other bike I was myself surprised it was rideable after the crash
Love your vids. Totally proper adventure rider. I used to do the same but head south. Pack a tent, take some money and ride south on the bike I had at the time. Absolute respect to you
Thanks for the video, it is awesome! Your videos taught us to choose your bike wisely if you are a solo rider. The time you stuck on a muddy puddle, and the difficulty on starting your motorcycle proved it all. Credits to the guy who rescued you out of the muddy puddle👏
Epic adventure. I immediately went shaking when I saw your soaking wet gloves and numb hands. Reminded me of all the moments when I thought I won’t be able to stop because my hands were so cold.🥶 Congratulations on your amazing trip 🫡
Remember an article in a Swedish motorcycle magazine, they were using old Gixxer 1100 as dual sports on gravel roads. That's when they were really cheap...and really good riders. And fast. Very interesting video thanks for sharing. Zip bags are perfect rain protection for phones!
greetings from Bulgaria, the movies sung by you and the adventure trips with the old Yamaha xj are a pleasant surprise! I have the same bike that I continue to ride with pleasure due to the fact that it doesn't make me think about it :) I just ride and enjoy the mileage without repairing and paying for parts and mechanics. Respect to your idea to really show all this in an engaging and professional way! Come to Bulgaria on your next adventure tour.
At 52:57 Put the bike on the center. stand and in neutral. Then turn the wheel by hand while spaying the lubricant on it. This is best done after riding the bike when the chain is still warm.
Amazing production, well done. As for the trip, awesome. You tackled some rough stuff indeed. Riding in those winds would be scary to say the least. Not surprised the police stopped some from setting off. Iceland is a stunning, beautiful country but it is wild even in the middle of summer. I have spent time there and this brought back memories. The Blue Lagoon is pricey, but well worth at least one visit in a lifetime. It was so relaxing and those miles fall from your body in those warm waters. It’s also a great place for a beer while you soak. I would recommend if funds allow. A full circumnavigation may well be a possibility once I retire. Not as brave as you, so will be on a dedicated adventure bike. No way would I attempt anything but the ring road on my Rocket 3! Glad you weren’t too hurt in the tumble. This whole video was a pleasure to watch. Ride free.
Thank you for your amazing comment. With the Wind a Lower bike actually can have some advantages The triumph rocket is sutch a nice bike it is my absolute dream bike☺️
The starting problem is likely an electrical issue. When the starter motor is running the battery voltage drops quite a bit. If there is also a wiring problem to the ignition unity the voltage may well be too low and you get no spark at all. Check the actual voltage ON the ignition unit. Not just the voltage going in with respect to the negative battery pole. A bad ground connection can cause a significant voltage drop. I have the same bike. When starting the bike cold: apply full choke. Rapidly twist the accelerator once or twice from closed to full throttle. This activates the acceleration pump in the carbs to inject some fuel. When the bike is not used for a longer time switch the fuel cock to prime before starting. This will fill the carbs as it bypassed the vacuum valve that is part of the fuel cock assembly. When the bike is running return it to ON or RESERVE. The vacuum valve is there for a reason: If fuel leaks in the cylinders you get real damage...
Miles is busy fixing the bike. I've added the link to the fist episode underneath. At this time 2 episodes have aired. He gets help from the comments (so feel free to add your 2 cents) ua-cam.com/video/jGAajdcDuCY/v-deo.htmlsi=6WGEUkCzajiBT0-i

I had a 84 FJ600 back in the 90's, predecessor to your xj. I had similar issue with engine not starting. The issue is the kill switch. Water gets in there, quick fix was to flick it a few times. Also, I never see you use the choke during cold start.
It is quite funny the situation 😂😂😂. Even tho the background is quite serious. It is a thing of responsibility for your own health and the people around you. Especially when traveling so I think it is important for every man and woman who do travel to pack them.
I like this video, great cutting and music overlay. It is also nice to see you fighting all the hard situations, and see how you find funy solutions (how to keep phone whatertight) for your problems.
Nice to see, that someone is same crazy as me :D, I have 2003 Diversion, and I am using it for looong trips around Europe. I only had problems with tyres on my trips.
Fantastic trip! Getting the bike out of the mud was really entertaining but man i felt with you. I know exactly how it feels, the same thing happened to me in Albania. It really is amazing if someone helps you in this situation. Great video, I know it was a lot of work.
Congrats men! Respect for a true motorcycle rider living the dream and learning. Love the imagens, the edit. The broken foot on the last kms to home..just the "cherry" on top of the cake. But what an adventure. Thanks
Excellent film. On at least two of your challenges, I’d have probably given up and walked away, (or limped, at the end). But, there’s a proper heroic saga here, played out against the most spectacular backdrop… btw, I love a divvy 600, I passed my A licence on one, and I’ve always been fond of them. They do a lot of things very well. I’m not sure that your interceptor would have performed as heroically. A Sunday evening very well spent. Thank you.
I am happy I could improve your Sunday evening. Yes the divvy 600s are absolute tanks. Thanks for calling this a heroic saga that feels very honoring ☺️
Truly amazing! I‘ve seen some people put strong straps on their side-cases, just incase. That Yamaha is looking forward to a new fuel-tap. Puddles can hide what’s underneath, especially when riding over rocky terrain. Hope your foot feels better Miles, Best wishes from Düsseldorf 😉
At the part u talked about drifting your motorcycle in the sand, I saw your foot dangling around, and i thought " Man with these boots, he will break his feet" And than 5 minutes later in the clip it happened. I liked the Clip a lot. But it seems you are a big risktaker. So maybe invest in some better protection gear ;) Good luck and hopefully the foot heals well! :D
