    Seiko 5 always is my favorite, because they got a common function : all automatic ,and day , date display, plus 100m water resistant and rotary bezel if you get dive style in sports series. If you have a Ferrari , you still want have fun with a 86 some time ,same reason : you own a Rolex, but a seiko5 is perfect gear for your fishing, boating and camping .

    No other company can compete with Seiko on there variety, just there Seiko 5 line is bigger then most companies whole lines , almost all of there watches have that Seiko mojo from the seventies but with a modern flare

      Love Seiko, but hate the 5 on the dial. Have a sea urchin, but will only go for regular Seikos in the future.
      Would prefer my SKX over any of the new Seiko 5 substitutes, even with the inferior caliber.
      Since i wear a Samurai, the prospex-line is my Seiko limit.

    I have an SNXS77K (blue dial). It was given to me as a gift. I really like the style, it's my first automatic watch. Too bad, I feel like my wrist is too big for that watch (around 7" wrist). Coming from wearing a G-Shock, I was not used to wearing small watches. But I still wear it sometimes. Now Seiko Samurai (black dial) is my daily watch.

      @@mikewysko2268 If only Citizen would still produce their Eagle 7's we'd then have a 3-5-7 faceoff. But I think the Seiko 5's are slightly higher quality in my experience. Not the timekeeping themselves, but the finishing, bracelet, and the see-through case backs that many Seiko 5's have in addition to their slightly harder hardlex crystals that they use.

    Just rewatching this, but the watch you showed at the snkk27 intro @3:44 is not the snkk27, but the snk371. They are extremely similar but the snk371 is my choice because it is slightly smaller at around 36.5mm and has an 18mm lug width vs the 38.5 mm and 20mm of the snkk27. The bracelet on the snk371 is more of a jubilee bracelet as well.

      Timex for timekeeping since it’s a quartz movement and you really can’t beat that in terms of accuracy, but you gotta change it’s battery now and then and if the component is broken then the watch is fried for good.
      Seiko 5 for how cool it is, it’s an automatic movement so technically it can go on indefinitely as long as it is treated well and serviced. But it sometimes losses or gain time 20ish seconds a day.

    Forgot to add, great video Alessandro!

    • @sebastianhurtz8595
      @sebastianhurtz8595 5 років тому +10

      Really depends on the specific watch. I have two seiko 5s with the 7s26 and one is about +16s/d the other one about +2s/d. You can always have the watch regulated to run pretty accurate if you don’t get lucky out of the box. If you can afford it, get a watch with hacking as that really reduces the amount of crown turning when resetting ;)
      For me the charm of mechanical is well worth the lack of accuracy compared to quartz.

    • @themightysquid
      @themightysquid 5 років тому +8

      Agram : there is a special connection with an automatic. YOU are the power source. Depending on the calibration of your watch, it could be off by 30-40 sec/day or within 10sec/day. You can always adjust it accordingly. If it’s slow, set it a little fast in the morning and you’ll average on time for the day. Unless you have an extremely time sensitive schedule, a minute off after a few days shouldn’t effect you. I actually enjoy setting my watch, it lets me interact with my watch. Quartz’s are good and accurate but boring for the owner. Good luck and enjoy!

      I wear a Casio F91w on my right wrist for work... I have the hour chime on so I check the time often on the hour... But because I also wear an automatic on my left I take a little bit of joy each time on the hour when I get to see the sweeping seconds hand go by, and by how many seconds out it is.
      Over a number of days I’m often surprised how good my 7s26 and 4r35/ 4r36 powered watches stay consistent at less than 30 sec off for days on end. 😎

    The snkk line is called the Speed Racer because one of the dial options is white grey and red, resembling Speed Racers car the Mach 5 from the animated series. Not because of "racing vibes"

    If you want a proper divewatch on a slender wrist (mine is 6 inches) look for an Skx013. It is the smaller cousin of the much heralded skx007 and is very robust, yet not bulky 200m diver.

    Nice selection. BTW the first picture of SNZH57 at 3:00 is from my Instagram profile ;-) Seiko really offers great watches for little money. I absolutely love SNXS79 and it's dial. You can spend hours just looking at it.

      Hey and thank you so much for dropping by! Did I list your Instagram account like I should in the credits (in the description)? That SNXS79K is just crazy... I really have to work on finding a great replacement bracelet or strap! Thanks for watching

    I don't think there's a green dial version of the SNXS79 ... but please don't delete the video ;-)

    Great video! None of these can be hand wound? Can't imagine doing the shaking every time while putting them on, unless you wear them on a daily basis right?

    • @TimedSquare
      @TimedSquare  5 років тому

      Thank you! Most can't be hand wound. So yes, if they stopped, shake-start it is... I find it pretty fun actually! If you don't, you'll definitely need a watch winder.

    Damn it you just blew the lid on a model Ive only found in stock in very few places, better get it now before they're gone lmao. EDIT: phew just ordered it, I can now say you forgot about the red Seiko 5 turtle

    It's nicknamed the Fifty-Five Fathoms because it is water-resistant to a depth of...55 fathoms. The original Blancpain was named the 50 Fathoms for that same reason.

    Some of those I have not seen. I have 3 Seiko 5's and everyone I can't adjust the bracelet, one micro adjustment if I take out a link its too small, if I leave it in it is too big. so the only thing I can do is change the bracelet. The ones that came with mine are the hollow link with keys to hold the links together, kind of junk really, and I have that one that looks like a dive watch Pepsi color too. Non can be wound or hacked. I love the Seiko Brand and I wish these lower end would come with the better movements. As you pointed out those are a bit more money. My first Seiko my Grandmother gave to me in around 1980 or 1981 when the digital craze was around, it had like 5 lines of display I really loved that watch, I still have it, of course, it does not fit and has an odd size bracelet I forgot the length. No idea if it works as it uses a battery and just found it after being missing since 1989 but I found it.

    i just recently interested to buy my 1st automatic watch, im bit interested in fossil skeleton watch at 1st(thankfully i dont buy it because it got 42/44 mm dial, and my 6" wrist cannt used it.
    at this time 1:28 SNKL43 (Blue SNKL41) really make me convince what i wanna buy, right away. Just need to buy brown reddish strap o.O
    i really dont need to watch the rest but SNK803 (Cream SNK809) a bit stand out from the rest of SNK809 coz of black, watch hand and number.
