- If I had to sum up the best first mechanical wristwatches with one category of watch from one brand, I would simply say Seiko 5. They have something for everyone, especially with those affordable prices. However, today, let's look at some more obscure models to choose.

Damn Teddy you’re about to rise the price on all these damn Seiko 5’s Lmaooooo
fr supply and demand is a bitch😂
Seiko needs to start making more!
Teddy Baldassarre true!
I'm going to put this here as there is no where better to put it. Teddy, I want to say thank you. At 41 years old I finally decided to buy a nice watch, actually my first watch. I knew I wanted something well made, automatic, smaller case and 200 was about my limit. I settled on the Seiko 5 SNKC55J1 and ended up at half my spending limit. To be honest I probably would have ended up having purchased " the wrong one" or having a bit of buyers remorse if not for your videos and information you have put out. THANK YOU !!!
I'm 42 years old and mine is a Seiko 5 SNKK17K1 it is also my first mechanical watch purchase and my budget is 150 USD. I guess one is never too old to get into the mechanical watch hobby.
Cheers.
Yes! Please continue this series, Teddy!
These are the kinds of videos I’m interested in. Affordable watches and also, I love your vids on micro-brands.
You’ve introduced some great micro brands.
For me the price range of $50 - $350 is the best, when it comes to being a collector on a budget.
So thanks for another great video 👍
I thought this was Sekiro: Shadows die twice
Not Seiko: Watches for the right price
c dude you made a good mistake
I have never heard of this game so I didn't get the reference, but it looks like others did lol
@Frederik Pedersen it has been harder to find time as I have gotten older. Loved gaming growing up.
Man, I’m entirely immersed in Sekiro now

Finally a review of watches I’m able to afford 😁
Absolutely chuffed to bits by this review!
Ok chow!
Ok! Ciao!!!
Love this video. Please continue this series for the newbies to Seiko.thanks.
Such exceptional value! Great video!
Great video Teddy, keep it up, I’d love to see you showcase some more Seiko 5’s. I just ordered a Seiko 5 I’ve had my eye on for awhile, the SRPC53k1. Had to order it straight from Japan, sold out through all the normal channels, must be gaining popularity.
Hi Teddy! Just wanted to show my appreciation! I bought my first and second watch just a little while ago and I’m getting so much joy from them! Thank you for getting me in to this hobby! Hope you see this... great videos!
Oh man, this video is just on point! I just ordered a SNKK25 as my first Seiko 5, it should be a fun watch to wear with a red-white NATO. Congrats on the content, btw.
On the mark content, Teddy. By the way, your store is a lot of fun for a watch geek, like me. Looking forward to seeing the strap that I purchased!
Thank you! Love the Seiko 5 line.
Please, continue with this Seiko 5 videos. Great!
Great choices for a first automatic watch! Thanks Teddy! 😃
Keep this series going!
SNXS79 . This is one of the best looking sport / dress Seiko 5 offering today. Bought mine at $100.
Great work on the strap website, I’ll definitely be using it. 👍
Great finds and review
Holy shit dude I've been googling Seiko 5 for the past week or so and it's like you knew ! 🤔🤔
As always great content keep up the good work !!
I have access to your browser history. Found some other disturbing things that I won’t bring up here.
Same here!!! Teddy back at it again with the psychic predictions!
Of course Teddy knew.. Why would you be even surprised?

My kind of watches! Great video!
Really like the idea of the series; I would suggest applying the same idea to brands like Citizen and Casio (analog pieces) - both brands have great affordable pieces and a multitude of styles
I bought the Seiko snk793 back in January as my first automatic watch and I love it. It has a beautiful navy blue dial and a very nice design. And it looks great on a leather strap. If you are looking for an amazing looking watch that can be dressed up and dressed down for an affordable price it is an awesome choice. I had been watching it for a few months and bought it off of amazon when it dropped down from $90 to $70. Though it may have gone back up in price by now.
Yes Teddy, more content on various Seiko 5 models please.
Great video teddy!
I got the SNK789 for Christmas (thanks to Teddy for the recommendation in another video). It was my first mechanical, and I love it. I love how I can wear it with a tshirt or a polo at work and it looks great.
Great video as usual. I also like "SNZH57" a homage to the Blancpain and it looks stunning
Great video, just love Seiko 5's! I got myself a Sea Urchin as my first mechanical watch 1,5 years ago, still love it! Actually it just inspired me to go ahead and make an in-depth review of it 8)
Keep up the good work! Love the content.

Great video and way to cover the Seiko5 line. I was fortunate to pick up my favorite 5 of all time about 3-4 years ago the Seiko SRP 241. To my knowledge they don't make these anymore.
My first automatic was the Seiko SNKK27. Glad to see you have it in the list. Love to see more of these Seiko videos, thank you
Hey mate, how did you like it? I'm thinking about picking it up myself
@@j.chiari4222 for the price you cannot go wrong. Definitely recommend picking it up.
@@greywolf369 thanks!
Just recently purchased an SNK789 for my first watch as a collector and anytime it’s on my wrist, I can’t stop looking at it. Definitely a watch I love and recommend.
Picked up a vintage Seiko 5 for 40€ not too long ago. It sports the 7009 movement with a Grey dial and gold accents. I rarely take it off, that's how much I enjoy wearing it.
Great watch to get in to watch collecting
Looks like the SNKA01 and SNK603 both have specialized (integrated?) bracelets that look like you wouldn't really be able to change out. Being stuck with a Seiko 5 bracelet (probably folded links? Maybe the kind that rip the hair off your arm?) and no option to put it on a leather strap is really a deal breaker for me. I like the dials and cases though.
Terrific, informative, identifies missing gems.
love your goal of biggest online strap retailer... inspiring my friend
Great video, some nice picks! Check out the Seiko 5 SNKL41, it is my first Seiko 5 and I think it is the most beautiful and elegant of the Seiko 5 line up!
Great video Teddy. I have snxs79k but I'm thinking about another Seiko 5 so you can show me some options😉
great video. i bought the last model you mentioned a while ago with the intention of doing a mod. after wearing it a few times i find myself thinking it' such an amazing little sucker that I just can't bring myself to change anything!
Class, pure class!
Pure class. Put it on a nato!!!

I love my SNKK79 with the Roman Numerals at the 12 and 6 with a beautiful brown sunburst dial. Great Video Teddy!
Looking forward to getting me a Seiko 5 then slapping one of your bands on it. Thanks for all the info kind sir!
Please continue this series!
Great video!
Can confirm, found an SNK381 with a dark green face in a back alley shop in Akihabara Tokyo and it was a great watch for $50 CAN. Lost about a minute a week, but it was used and probably needed a service.
This is an excellent video, Teddy. I have a Seiko 5 and love it. But it does have limitations and I just can’t get past the no-wind, no-hack characteristics of the series. Could you move it up a notch and feature similar watches that you can actually wind? (My personal preference is for high visibility field watches.) 😃
I just scooped up a Seiko 5 SNK361 with the Seiko 5 logo pattern across the dial (a baby Grand Seiko SBGH267). The dial (mine is black and there is a navy blue option #357) is very subtle and most people wouldn't even notice it unless I told them. Surprisingly the watch has a nice weight to it even without that lackluster bracelet, and it hugs the wrist really well.
I love it when people appreciate the craft of these seiko 5s... I own a few of them..
How about a video on choosing a quality watch strap/bracelet? What to look for and what are quality watch straps?
Great video
I bought 2nd hand Seiko SNK 369 and Seiko SNKL 47 all for $70. It has been 2 months and its working great! I'm looking to buy more 5s and increase my small collection.
I bought the SRPB96K1 , the blue bezel / brown dial one and I'm amazed at the way the sun or light catches the dial. Looks a bit dull in pics but in reality it's a beauty.
Hi Teddy, I'd love to see you put together an "Affordable Field Watches" list at some point in the future or at least a list showing a spectrum of prices points for field watches. Thanks for this video, really enjoyed it! Cheers - Brett
Your channel caught me for "the affordables watches" and for that video is why a brought my seiko 5 😊😍 the problem is now I can't stop I want more watches😁 thank you .
Just a note on the SNXS73, dial is in fact silver sunburst and not white. Great looking case + dial and good chunk of lume on applied indices which seems an uncommon thing on these little 'dress' Seiko 5's. Couldn't be happier with my SNXS.
Love that SNK381! I like the slightly "leafed" hands and simple easy to read dial and case size. And btw Taylor Stitch is the bomb very cool for you to be partnering up with them!

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 definitely gonna buy one
Could you make a episode about sweep second quartz watches? (Bulova, Seiko ....)
Seiko Recraft series please! Thanks Teddy!
YES!
I got my Seiko SNK791 after I saw your summer review of watches. I'm a sucker for light blue dial watches.
Finally going automatic, my first one! 🤗The Seiko SNK793 with the blue dial arrived today. Would love your opinion on some replacement metal bracelet and leather straps for this model. Thanks!
Would you consider doing a watch strap giveaway as well? Great content btw! Best watch channel on UA-cam
Yes! Plan on it. Probably going live on instagram this week. Will probably give away some
The first watch I ever bought was an SNKD99 with the blue sunburst dial
It's beautiful
SNSX comes with a gold dial which I have. Love it! :)
Nice upload. I have 3 seiko 5 watches all are amazing value for money. No joke, the accuracy on all is not far from my 2 Breitling!
Yes please do a video on the older ones. Also .....question.....if it just says water resistant, what water activities can you do?
Finally, somebody sees the beauty in the SNK381
Please make this a regular series Teddy
Love seiko 5. I own the snk131. It's pretty rolex explorer "esque"
I've got an SNKA05, Blue dial one. My first auto, that costed around $190. Absolutely beautiful watch, will buy the cocktail ones next.
Always appreciate a video on Seiko watches, especially ones that are underrated! I'm personally a fan of that SRPB with the blue dial/bezel.
Only 12k more to 100k, Teddy! You're so close.
Compressor-style watch. I have the SRPB31,, but the SRPB25, SRPB27, SRPB29 provide a good selection. I thought about buying a couple of them and swapping bezels and crowns for a little customization. I paired mine it with a black orange NATO and a black orange Barton silicone elite. The only problem is limited availability, and prices are trending slightly upward.
Let's make it happen!!
@@TeddyBaldassarre you've come so far teddy
Teddy. I respect your opinion and style. I am contemplating between The Hamiltion Interstellar with the silver dial and the Tissot T-complication. Can you please advice which watch you think looks better and will be better for a minimalistic wardrobe?
Love Seiko 5 watches. Where can I find a catalog of every Seiko 5 watch currently available? Thanks for all your videos.
Absolutely chuffed to bits
I have a SNK 601, six years now. No problems, and it’s still keeping amazing time.
It's a pleasure my SNK603 is mentioned here...🙂
Love your stuff, you made me a seiko collector, also has anyone told you you have your own cartoon character? Have you ever seen "peabody" it you as a kid, great movie, also kid very smart like you with watches
Love my SEIKO SNKK87 🥰 exept for the bracelet ofcourse.
Hell yeah, my prayers have been heard!
For a non American watch fan its truly hard to find bargains because of the shipping and taxes, just for an example, I live in Chile and my first watch that I bought with my own money was a blue/tan timex expedition scout from Amazon, it was 40 dollars, I've ended paying 53 dollars for everything. Yes, is a lot for that watch but in retail stores it's sold for about 90.000 chilean pesos that roughly translates to 140 dollars!!!
I can't thank you enough because whenever it's one of this videos I know I'm getting the best deal for my hard earned money :)
I feel your pain Raimundo. I live in the Caribbean and we have to pay 35% duties plus Sales tax of 12.5%. On top of that, our exchange rate is TT$6.7 to US$1. Those guys in the US don't know how good they have it.
The first mechanical watch I bought was a Seiko 5... which I purchased used from a jeweler in Santiago, Chile for about $60 USD (equivalent). That was 12 years ago. I also found an old automatic Citizen at a street Feria. I miss Chile. This is what got me into watches
The SRPB93, the 'Hulk' is absolutely gorgeous!
That Seiko with the burgundy dial 😘
Continue the seiko series!!
I love my Seiko snxf07!
I’m pretty sure it’s discontinued or at least it took me a looooong time to find one so I picked it up immediately!
Just waiting on my Seiko 4205 0140 in the mail. Super underrated women’s diver at 33mm
I bought a snkl43k1 and I am so inlove with it. Good for a beginner
Thanks for this nice video- might be good to say something about the origin of these-I own the grey faced 5 with the gold hands that you show toward the end- the place I bought it had two iterations, one made in Japan and a cheaper but visually identical one I assume is Chinese made. This is designated right on the face. I’d be interested in your thoughts on the difference, if any? It’s also worth mentioning that these “wear” small because of the offset crown at 4 o’clock that is kind of kind of inset into the case.
Just ordered my first mechanical watch, the SNK603. Looking forward to it :-)
I'm glad you mentioned the SNXS line. Rolex OP with a huge discount. Swap out that joke of a bracelet for a nice leather strap (19mm is the one drawback) and you have a very subtle and clean watch that looks much more expensive than it is. Probably the next budget watch I'm going to buy but they do make a dark charcoal dial along with the silver so that's where a decision has to be made. (73 versus the 79)
Great informative video as always.
Seiko 5 SNK809... classic first automatic watch. I like the SNK795 as well. They are so inexpensive, you can get both, one for casual wear and other more dressy.
is there any functionality to the dial design of the SNK227? Or would you say it's mostly just for looks?
Hi Teddy! This is kinda out of topic. I have very small wrists (around 5.5" only) and I'm looking for a 34mm watch. Could you recommend specific models from Oris, Tissot, Longines, or Omega? Thanks!
I actually got the snk603 before seeing this vid and I’m happy people realise how cool it is
Great video. Wear them in good health. Caio!
The timing was convenient!
Can i get someones opinion on glycine combat moonphase? Thinking about buying it for casual and everyday use
What strap is he using on the seiko SNK803 at the beginning? or where can i get one similar to it?
Thanks!
underrated watches, underrated video, and underrated channel
The gold versions are gorgeous
Great video, the Fivers are simply value for money. Also, would you hit me with a ref. number for that slick "deep pink" dial field one that's seen in the vid's intro? Would be much appreciated!
