    What's your tips for continuing to eat well while traveling?

    • @eaconnerart
      @eaconnerart Рік тому +1

      I do on-line searches for eating options in advance of my trip. Comb some Yelp / Google reviews to see what's good and what's not. Pack a few dry or canned items (mainly protein sources). Always travel with nuts or seeds, peanut butter, a can or two of beans (make sure it's a pull top can) and a few fruit items.

      Generally, I find it best to eat out less and shop more. With a little planning, I try to stay at hotels (or whatever places I am staying at near a decent grocery and shop for meals instead of eating out. Much of my travel was for work, and thus often a lunch or somethings was part of the itinerary, but I would usually have breakfast at the lodging place and sometimes dinner. Depending on where I was at, I might get takeout one day and split it over a couple meals in addition to things I bought at a grocery. One complication is that many employers make it hard to get reimbursed with this approach. All good if they follow federal per diem, but much harder if they demand receipts. Try vouchering half an Indian takeaway twice (half x 2 =1), part of a Trader Joe's receipt, and maybe a couple others. Painful.

    I recently had to drive down to Florida from PA so a 3 day drive and I wondered what I would eat along the way, and I ended up just fasting and drinking as much water as I could. I've never been much of a faster because I love food oh so much but it felt wonderful. I think I needed it.

    Thank you. I after 3 failed attempts and having sworn off evil Tofu forever, learned how to make Tofu on Christmas morning… the key to tofu is having patience. I have made it first fried in just a little olive oil, second time the air fryer next time I’m trying the oven. 😊

    I love the fact you finally get to do some sponsored content! It just makes me happy to see the time and effort you put into these videos paying off :) Plus, you actually made this video into quite an interesting conversation which is great - added value for us!
    I feel like while traveling, I tend to let go of certain eating principles too (for example, the amount of plastic waste I end up producing) so It's great to have such conversions from time to time!

    This is such a simple and obvious solution I’m almost embarrassed to share it with others! My family challenge is balancing the needs of vegetarians, an occasional meat eater, and two people who don’t eat sugar and flower. On the road…? Nightmare. We prefer temporary rentals over hotels to save money on food and because it’s really the only way to ensure everyone can eat in a way that keeps them feeling good and satisfied. I am SO going to look into this. Thank you!

    I’ve been with purple carrot since the beginning and I’ve discovered new ingredients and recipes! I actually made this recipe but didn’t add the sweetness to it (don’t like sweet and savory). It came out so delicious, tangy and lemony. It’s a favorite with me! And cooking tofu with cornstarch is next level!!!!
    Also, since I live by myself, I use the leftovers for a delicious lunch quick lunch the next day. It’s been perfect for me and my lifestyle. ❤

    Just found your channel and love it. Despite having never smoked and always exercised a few years ago at age 45 I was diagnosed with bladder cancer and had to have my bladder, lymph nodes and prostate removed in a 12hr long operation. After my diagnosis I researched a lot about nutrition and realised I was eating a lot of crap ad not enihgh food that have health benefits inc prevention of cancer. Although I still eat some meat and fish I went significantly more plant based and got I to cooking. I always worry about not getting enough protein to maintain my 90kg bodyweight but your recipes are ace. Simple, tasty, nutritious, planet friendly and great style of presentation in the videos. As we say in England - I salute you Sir!

    I laughed when I saw those tired greens squished at the bottom of that box. Gailan... Alright now! I see you Purple Carrot. Fancy! Restaurants blow my mind but not really all at the same time. It's as if they don't understand how easy it is to make the simplest dishes on their menus Vegan / Plant-Based. I have degrees in Hospitality and Food Service. It's pretty easy to keep some canned beans and a block of tofu in the kitchen. Why aren't there menu options to add / substitute these items like you would chicken or shrimp? 🤯 How many people was that Purple Carrot box supposed to feed? While that dish with the little blue bird was ADORABLE... That serving size would not have cut it for me. Stay amazing and as always..... PEEEEEEEEAAAACCCCCCE!

    Thanks for the video. This service definitely isn't for anyone to use as a regular weekly service. I was checking the nutritional facts on several different menu items, and the sodium levels are 47% and up for daily allowances. I didn't check them all, only about 3 of them. Like you said, it could be a viable service to use when traveling though.
