I couldn't tell the difference, but they at least seem to not be the many "Single hallway into 1 or 2 room" caves since you could actually jog in there a while DD1 if I take a guess was Cave with the time Thief. Cave with the Cyclops on the rock bridge. Waterfall Cave with the dead priest at the end.
How about the random a-hole pawn, that decides to boast about how great they are, trying to get hired, just as you're about to enter combat? I'm sorry to anyone that owns a pawn, I threw into the brine for doing this. But they had it coming.
On the same note as not being able to equip items from storage, you can also no longer purchase items to be sent directly to storage or upgrade gear that is in storage. I will never understand why some devs consciously choose to make objectively worse systems when there is a literally perfect system in their previous game that they can just copy/paste over
Pawns losing their color coding is also weird. In DD1 you could always check the minimap and see which Pawn is being tardy, yet in DD2 all Pawns got white arrow icons, so it's impossible to tell who's where.
@@hypenoctRE Engine is just upgraded MT Framework, it's like Creation to Gamebryo in Bethesda. It even has the same NPC streaming issues in towns and certain points of the map.
@@happyharold1085 if you play skill based then you get punished with artificial fail states that are generated by the Adaptive Difficulty algorithm that Capcom the Cowardly Corporation incorporates in all their modern games so that they don't have to go through the hassle of actually creating a balanced and meaningful challenge
Ngl, reading that my 2 favorite vocations (ranger & mystic knight) aren't in dd2 back then before release, instantly kills 80% of my hype for it. Coupled with technical issues and my rather old PC, I'll probably never play this game, which saddens me.
Yep, that and Magic Archer not having daggers, dodge roll, and double jump or Strider just outright missing...my favorite 3 vocations just gone or gimped. They pretty much added stuff I don't care for and removed most of my favorite aspects of the first game.
It doesn't hurt me. DD2 coming out doesn't take DDDA away from us. They wanted to do other stuff, and they're the ones who devoted years of their lives to this project.
Missing one if not the major point. Your Pawn doesn't learn from you anymore, this whole (hidden) mechanic was cut. Furthermore they reduced the dynamic primary, secondary and hidden tertiary inclination to one shity inclination system with 4 options, which also influence the type of voice you get. And you only get one male/female voice per inclination. I fucking hate this so much. Never had pawns in my party with the same voice before. In DD2 having 3 pawns with the same voice repeating the same 3 lines for 200h makes you insane. Speaking of, where the fuck is the option to talk with your pawn like in DD1? Talking in DD2 doesn't affect your pawn in any way, besides giving a few affection point with a cooldown mechanic. DD1 talking changed their behavior. Also, missing the iconic Intro song. They could have made a nice easter egg, but didn't. Kind of sums up the whole game: "could, but didn't".
Correct me if I'm wrongo-rino but wasn't pawn inclination *completely broken* in both the original and expansion to the point that you were forced to buy special potions to reset their inclinations to begin with? This was a talking point in forums for years because nobody could understand why pawn AI was just breaking regardless of their bestiary and quest knowledge. The AI was also abysmally bad so maybe they should've improved it in the sequel regardless. Talking to pawns also *didn't do anything in the original* except alter their speech rate as far as I understand.
no it wasn’t broken ppl just didn’t understand how to use it. Also the knowledge chair was useful for setting pawns speech/animation personality like making them arrogant or timid and others personality. Yes all pawns had the same dialogue when commenting on world events and bestiary knowledge but a pawn could have different personalities traits when making comment after winning a fight or being issued command. A few of this most notable examples are pawns saying they have quite enough of battle or kneeling praise when personality is more timed or respectful. The pawns system in original DD is way more in depth than DD2. Also the potion are to help simplify the process not fix anything cuz most ppl don’t understand don’t make your pawn a mage if your a warrior cuz the Ai simply copy your in/out of combat behavior, it doesn’t make up for what lacking , that what hiring other pawns suppose to do. Nihil has a catalog of videos showing how it all works. If you don’t know how to fly a plane , it doesn’t mean the plane is broken.
I played Dogma2 without playing Dogma1 before. After 200 plus hours on Dogma2 and finishing all of it, including its achievements, I was left wanting more so I went on to play the 1st one. It didn't take me long to realise how many aspects of the gameplay were already done better on the 1st one, and your videos reinforce that assertion with evidence. Thank you.
Your videos along the years have greatly increased my repertoire in music choice, and this with did the same with the first song. Thank you, and thank you for your content.
Was so happy hearing that we got rid of the assasin vocation just to find it plastered all over "thief" or what it should had been a better aproach to strider IMO. Yes 12 years have passed since the game's original release, but most likely they worked at this game presumably or argueably for about 3 or even 2 years, CAPCOM has way more IPs and Hideaki Itsuno is in charge of way more things other than DD.
Nice video, Nihil. As you predicted after the hype died down, all the small channels that started covering Dogma for the first time would stop. This is the kind of content they could never produce. While Dogma 2 feels familiar and is fun to play, it's not as engaging as the original.
After completing DD2 couple times, I asked myself "wouldn't it just be better to remake the first game with DLC". Leave upgraded animations, better boss fights, warrior from DD2, just copy&paste DD1 and then work on future content from that point. Many changes in DD2 feels so unnecessary and many feels like straight downgrade.
A side grade compared to DD1(even that's debatable), but a downgrade if we compare it to DDDA, which it should be compared to considering its a sequel.
Glad some channels aren't afraid to speak out on DD2. But quick note Holy weapons are in DD2 at least but there's only 4. A staff an Archstave, daggers and a mace from memory. You can't enchant holy. Dark was entirely removed
@@ugn154eh. SuperRad made a long video glazing the first game. He also got to play DD2 early. But his review is rather mixed. I don’t think that many people are scared tbh, general reception for this game can just be described as mixed.
14:32 I just wanna say specifically that Garm and Warg, they might as well be the exact same enemy (I can attest that apparently I’ve killed 6 of each, and didn’t even know they were different enemies). And like you said in your previous video! Garm specifically is a shell of his former terrifying self in Bitterblack isle; who was way bigger, way faster, had the bite uppercut that sent you flying in the air, and the death animation that blinded you if you were too close to him on death > all of that has been removed. I don’t consider Garm to even be the same enemy really (which must be why you included it here 🤣) He’s a hollow shell of what he used to be. And of course I need to mention that Drake is still, I would say, the fire Drake from Dogma1. I don’t think they combined the 3 into 1, because Drake in Dogma1 could already cast spells occasionally, and would occasionally fly (just not to the nauseating degree of Wyvern). Drake in Dogma1 was already kinda the middle-ground of the 3 dragon variants. Ice Dragon was called “Wyrm” and specialized in Casting Spells and breathed Ice. And Thunder Dragon was called “Wyvern”, and specialized in being an annoying piece of crap by constantly flying, and breathing wind. I think they could still bring back Wyrm and Wyvern, and while the Drake definitely has some new moves in Dogma2, I still think he’s just the Drake from Dogma1 with a makeover.
Removing things like armor layering is just fuckin stupid. 4 skills only is just stupid. No Everfall equivalent is stupid. Half assed story quests is so stupid, they could have literally just remade the same shit. Storage equipping having to be updated into the game is just stupid. So much stupid shit that is objectively worse than DD1, like where is Capcom's head at? I'm not holding my breath for DLC to fix everything but I'll be pleasantly surprised if it does.
This reminds me a lot of the transition from Red Dead Redemption to RDR2. The first game had an arcade feel to it while the sequel feels weighty. Rockstar did an amazing job regardless and made upgrades on everything that made RDR1 great, I just missed the arcade feel of the original. While playing through DD2, I also remembered the time I GM'ed for my DnD group. The first time around I didn't know what I was doing so I let my group get away with a lot of things. At the end of the campaign, I asked what they thought and they all said they had fun, except I wasn't satisfied and thought I hadn't done a good job. Second time around I changed a lot of things I did the first time and went for a more serious and realistic tone. I restricted a lot of the original things that I had let my group do the first time around. They wouldn't tell me but I felt the difference in the mood of my group. I guess what I'm trying to say is, it's fine if a developer has a vision, but forgetting about the player is a grave sin.
Loot pools is the thing I miss the most. I miss finding good and unique gear in chests, finding weapons and armors somewhere you don't expect, or having that "I wonder what's inside" feeling when opening a sneaky wooden chest hidden somewhere. Not to mention, it completely ruins subsequent playthroughs, because you already know what's inside every chest. They tried making non-gear chests rewarding by putting ferry stones and wakestone shards everywhere, but that just decreased the worth of these items to the point of them feeling like common loot.
nah since there's no eternal ferrystone, they're always good loot imho, even in unmoored where they're a lot more common, but having more chests with equipment would be nice, a lot of stuff seems to be store only
I miss how tough garm was in the first one where as in the second one there easy to defeat . And in the first one you get 3 at once and when they appear they have that sound effect . I miss the skills in dd2 you get 3 to 4 depending which class . I play the wayfarer class for the no restriction to what you can wear.
It was just a trade-off. The loss of various Magick Bolts, staff melee, and a whole lot of things was utterly painful IMO. The upgrade system in DD2 isn't even really that great. Comparing pure Dwarven to pure other styles is pretty much negligible loss compared to the gains Dwarven gives. I would rather have the same system DD1 had and have equipment that actually unlock interesting effects the higher the upgrade level, instead of those separate upgrade paths.
you get 3 more damage not going dwarf, one of many things that show how little fucks the developers gave about their game, which is a fking shame after 12 years.
I always say to my friends before ever buying a game watch reviews and gameplay to see if you like it or not so that you don’t waist your money on a game you don’t like.
I believe the game got rushed out because Capcom desperately needed to report profits to their shareholders before the end of the first fiscal quarter (March 31st). You can see them gloat in some articles about how they made record profits in the first quarter and list games like Dragons Dogma 2. But honestly that doesn't excuse the 12 years of planning that went into this game. I know Itsuno was working on DMC5 but surely he could have worked with what was already created from DA. Maybe it was also because he was rebuilding the game in an entirely new engine. Who knows? I'm not making excuses for them though.
The worst offender for me is not being able to edit equipment from storage, it feels like a crime has been committed against me every time I go into storage and back out to edit equipment.
The loss of shared weaponry between vocations really did hurt the game’s variety. That effectively makes the weapon the vocation, rather than the vocations defining the weapons. Sure the vocations became more well-defined in their intended role, but now gameplay is extremely 1 dimensional at the same time cause you are using only that weapon the entire time you’re playing as that vocation. This is further exacerbated by Warfarer where it feels more like switching between vocations than being a walking arsenal because no new skills are added to change the functionality of those weapons. So a sword is just Fighter, daggers are just Thief, Archstaff is just Sorcerer, and etc. Meaning that you’re forced to use the weapons from the roles you need most with Warfarer anyways. For example, need a melee DPS option? Daggers really are the only true option cause Sword, Duospear, and Greatswords need their master skill to do anywhere near the same damage as daggers. This is to restrict those weapons to their intended vocation but now many of the weapons literally don’t have a purpose outside of their role. This would not be the case if another vocation used the weapon and added new DPS skills to the weapon while keeping the skills exclusive to each vocation to maintain both vocations’ respective role. (i.e. Fighter and Assassin changing sword into a tank or DPS weapon respectively.) There really needed to be vocations that shares weapons and adds new skills to them for variety’s sake. This is my biggest criticism of DD2 besides the really horribly paced story and basically non-existent endgame.
I remember how when the original DD came out the inventory and item management was atrocious. They improved it with the DA version but now we went back again to zero. Hopefully they are conscious about those issues and they will patch it later on or worst case scenario make it exclusive to a new version that will include the expansion.
This was a sequal the fans of the games had waited for over a decade, bought multiple times on different consoles and much more and Capcom coulnt help but to fuck things up. If this isnt the time for people to decide to stop supporting this piece of shit company then I dont know what is.
I'm having more fun with hades 1 than hades 2, same goes for DD1 compared to DD2. Amazing. Is it a getting old thing or are games just getting worse? (except in graphixxxxx)
Either If the devs will update the game or mods will be made first, I hope the game will become better. The features from DDDA are a great start to what is missing
Hey Nihil, great video as always! Im curious, how do you feel about the music of DD2 compared to the first game? I thought it was another major downgrade.
I typically turn off music in games. The only games that I keep music on were Dishonored games. I don't think I know any of the songs in Dogma2. I can at least recall 4 different songs in Dogma1, but still I always turn off music
I loved the idea of dragon forging it reminded me of the old german legends. Hopefully modders can correct the many weaknesses with this game which honestly just feels more like a failed expansion.
@@federicocasali1565 to me it always feeled as a gameplay element and now it's just something you buy. It was something I would do for my pawn, no problem.
@@vinniamsterdam700 I can see in a way that it's not as cool as getting the pop up message at the end of a dragon fight, but in world it's still you get the Dragon's lifeforce by killing them so that you can imbue your equipment with it, still pretty badass
Feel like its a must to at least play the previous game before making it, and flipping back and forth to ensure all qol is kept intact at the very least.
Most of these things can by added back with mods (which isn't to say it isn't a shame they aren't in the game by default). My own mod "Dullahan - Modular Vocation Overhaul" has an option to skip the unsheathe animation and attack directly ("Gameplay UWU" also has this). In a future update it will also give Magick Archer some of the mobility options that Archer has (I saw you mentioning this in a video). I could also make a mod that prevents autosaves, and I'm planning to make a mod that lets you change equipment (and vocations) from your house chest. Join the dark side of modding!
@@ToliG123 I'll add it to the list but first I need to finish Dullahan 3.0, test a dynamic encounters mod that I've made (btw I'd love help with that), and make a mod to change vocations from your house chests. So it may be a while
Despite all the improvements, feels like DD2 is still a downgrade over DD1. All the improvements don't compensate for all the downgrades. Maybe DLC will bring DD2 on par to DD1.
The only defence or excuse i can come up with for capcom is dd1 was a truly epic game. It set so many standards for other games to live up to even in modern gaming. U could literally ask urself when rating a game is it as good as dd1. I dunno dude it seems all we r getting in regards to recent released games is unplaytested rushjobs with corners cut at every opportunity. The corporations are calling the shots and ruining every single game released lately. With this in mind i guess we should just b gr8full it didnt suck more?
10:20 You are listing here Invincibility (more like Invisibility) and then say at the bottom that it is in DD2. Similar with Riposte skill - mentioned on the list, added a mention about all MK skills below. Talking about renames: I'm pretty sure I've seen Leaping Stone used by Archer. BTW I don't see Necromancy and Sacrificial Bolt on the list. Does this mean that they are back?
Invisncibility is better than the new version called Formless Feint. Same results in usage but Invincsibility (I call it invincibility, because just called it wrong, you are invincible more than you are invisible) does not move you away with animations like Formless Feint does. I'd rather stay still like in Dogma1 instead of have my Arisen move away from the target. The Archer has a kick attack but it's an evasion option for Archer. It won't knock you up above for a counter attack. And nope, I forgot Sacrifical and Necromancy. That's 2 more off the list. Are you still unsure if you want to try Dogma2 Zadymek? I think it's still worth it. If I were to recommend I would say either wait for DLC or catch it when it's about 30% less in cost
@@Nihil0.0 InVISibility. And Stealth is the base version. Yes, it's pure i-frames, not actual "cloaking". Pretty lame IYAM, especialy that cloaking is already implemented in DD. I've seen Archer jumping off the enemy and shooting it while still mid air, in one of the trailers. ua-cam.com/video/wx6Msc469zo/v-deo.htmlsi=Ap6aQbCjzN1Vqb3r Does this count as ...counter? :( I should have expected this, the devs are doing nothing but simplifying things, for "modern audiences". I am sure... that I want to try it someday, to point as accurately as many flaws as possible ;) But not on Steam, I'll wait till it's not Steam exclusive anymore. Which may take between 5 and infinite years.
Technically holy wasn't removed, there's still 2? spells that do holy and it's available on 4? weapons. Not that it really matters much. I can live with the storage system it's not like I change equipment that often, I can live with most caves being the exact same. What I can't live without is the fashion and what I don't want to live without is vocations having multiple weapons (and some of them sharing some pieces, so switching a vocation doesn't always necessitate a (near) full new gear set). If warrior was the dps fighter with the option for greatswords/hammers it would be perfect. If thief was strider with no special arrows (or only utility special arrows) and the bow skills would be utility based it would be great. If archer was ranger and didn't require a skill for each special arrow didn't require a skill it would be great. If casters still had 6 skill slots it would be great (8 makes sense though, for everyone). If Magick archer would have a staff utility skills it would be nice. As it stands only 1 vocation feels better than in 1 (warrior) and it went from my least favourite to most. Every other vocations feels like they're missing something.
7:07 You have to reload midfight or at least before the monster dies to keep your save so you could refight it. This trick works for every monster, even on Dullahans when the sun rises and they run away like a bitch lol Also, there's probably a very brief window of opportunity between the monster dying and the autosave kicking in to quickly reload your save. Autosave in this game is super egregious, I kinda dont like it but its probably a lifesaver for the more casual player. You can also do the save and reload trick for different monster drops when theyre dead, especially useful for dragons. Their corspe should be where they spawn when you reload. Just be wary of their body dissappearing if they share a spawn spot with different enemies (like the dragon near harve village who shares his spawn with bandits)
I wish they did a "reload from manual save or auto save?" option. I think it would be nice having 3 areas of saves (Inn, Save Manual Save, Auto Save) for flexibility.
Nihil0.0 I find it interesting that you haven't mentioned Capcom abusive use of "Adaptive Difficulty" which is a deceiving title. The reality is that "Adaptive Difficulty" is actually algorithmic fail state generator to ensure that now matter how good you are at the game you will be forced killed. They implemented this heavily is the RE 4 remake and RE2's standard difficulty. It is pretty diabolical and is designed to encourage players to spend money on wakestones to subvert this devious piece of game design. This is also the reason for the delay and sluggishness in the controls, it make it hard for the player to be sure if they presses the button at the right time and also allows the game time to render it answer bases of the players data.
Weren't Garm, Wargs and Drakes already in DDA? Garm being the big wolf in BBI that can easily drag you off, wargs are the smaller ones and drakes being there alongside Wyrms and Wyverns.
Well, when comparing I am just comparing Dogma1 without the Dark Arisen DLC. Lots of players are complaining it's not fair to compare a DLC'd game to a non DLC'd game. But between me and you, Dogma2 lacks in every aspect not even needing to include the DLC. And Dogma2 DLC is just going to be a repeat of Dark Arisen, just like 2 is a repeat of 1
@@Nihil0.0 true that. I think it's fair to compare a DLC'd game from over a decade ago to a game from today. Back then they had much less to work with, with a lot of limitations, nowadays they have no excuse. This is just what I think really. They skimped a lot with this "new" game/"sequel".
@@Nihil0.0 yeah. I feel like time has definitely degraded their passion for the series. I mean, 12 years! I understand if they probably just wanted to do some other projects, and maybe were afraid of a repeat of what happened last time where most of the game got cut out, who knows. We'll see how they plan to fix, patch or improve this one.
@@ugn154 As i understand it dd1 wasnt really an overall success. It was huge in asia not so much elsewhere. Then they got slapped with a huge copyright lawsuit from berserk for not getting permission to have so much content from the series in their game. I can only imagine the corporate types would have wanted to forget the bad profit margins staining capcoms accounts and never touch the franchise again. I was relieved and hopeful when i heard capcom had set a release date for a sequel. At the time i was playing ngs and had a large amount of friends and alliance members who were just as happy to hear the news as me. Mayb the dlc can redeem or at least heal some wounds.
On the bright side. If you're already carrying the gear & then change your vocation. The gear will automatically equip..... But yeah, DA was better. Also, you're being q bit generous with the "added" enemies list. Fell Lord is basically just a reworked Skeleton Lord, & we had Drakes & Garm in 1.
Imo, warrior is so much better in DD2 than in DD1 that it pains me to see that the rest of the classes didnt get the same treatment, aside from that, i cant even say anything about the game because I CANT PLAY IT STABLY ON A SYSTEM THAT IS BETTER THAN THE RECOMMENDED SETTINGS, seriously, i played around 30 hours of it but just couldnt keep playing with the dogshit performance, and now, after almost two months they still havent done anything substantial about it, actually depressing.

Hey mate, if you mean upgrade storage items or sell them, no. They even fail to register with pawn forager specialization. You need to pull things from storage to upgrade or sell
Wow very beautiful music you got there bro! Love it! What language is it? Sounds like Japanese or Korean. Or maybe its a Russian language like Tatar or Buryat? Anyway very nice beautiful, my ears are "happy at ease"... Tatar, Buryat, Yakut, Ulan-Ude, Chuvash, Komi, Mongolian, one of those... Closest I can think of.
You know the sequel is bad when the fans are just wishing they had the already simple and half-assed systems back from the original. You know instead of improvements. Can you equip more than 6 skills? Are there more equipment slots? Are the npc's more dynamic? Are the questlines punchier? Is the very basic pawn inclination and behavior system improved upon? How about the very basic romance and crafting systems? Are the stat and level up systems more in depth? Can you have multiple save slots? Is the new game plus bettet? Is there more enemy variety? Is the climb-on-monster mechanic more fleshed out? What about the environmental debuffs and weather mechanics? Are there more difficulty options? Is the enemy ai smarter? How about pawns? Is the difficulty harder? Are there even more equipment choices? More weapon choices? Greater difficulty? Bigger world with more to do? Greater difficulty? Brand new non-half-assed mechanics introduced? Fair price? Is the game better?
One thing that would have been nice is a spread of food pops out like in MHW and you and your pawns pig out that woul have been nicer than the IRL footage that made and then the chaarcetrs are back as if they did not eat. I don't get the point of only the steaks being able for cooking? I mean maybe they could have made it a mini game where you can make your own meals it's just them cutting corners on the footage of steaks being cooked. It's amazing that QA Let that out as for the stuffs they removed they'll sell it back to you as DLC and claim it is new.
DD2 pawn is fun. Pawn guide, pawn quest, pawn banter, wait command improve a little bit. Wait can use to avoid pawn steal kill. But the voice + inclination dd2 is cancer. Freedom choosing voice dd1 is better. Dd1 cutscene much more entertaining and easy to understand. Ng+ ending twist is the coolest thing ever. Dd2 cutscene for the most part is rush, confusing, boring and dogshit. I have 0 motivation to ng+.
Yes, 98% of the items can be bought in shops in DD2 but in DD1 we just suicide and reload until we get the one we want. At the end in both cases we get what we want but the suicide/reload method sucks 4ss from a straw. Also in DD1 vanilla : sulfure saurians, saurian sages, black saurians, goblin shamans. Also in DD2 : poison saurians, thunder saurians, gore Harpies. Concerning caves in DD2 there are a sh1t load of them so I can understand that most of them look alike. And in DA almost every "rooms" have been reused several times. Also in DD1 : huge wide open landscapes with no trees or rocks, strong winds, poisoned waters. Also in DD2 : monsters attack in town, another region and capital both completey different from Gransis and Wermund, every vocation is unique (and warrior has been better thought), rain, "câble cars", blunt weapons won't cut tails, teleport with npc in our arms, we have a shortcut for the lantern. In DD2 there are crypts where we can resurect named NPC and that's pretty cool.
What I'm saltiest about is the armor layering and the hydra removal but I liked more Dragon's Dogma 2 than Dragon's Dogma without Dark Arisen, I feel like it's pretty similar and have high hopes for capcom fixing all that is lacking with the expansion
the dev announced they were working on an expansion with a new map that would be the same or twice the size of the current one. Havent heard a thing about new skill or bringing back old feature tho. But the game sure lack content. My character is above lv100 and barely open the game because after having upgraded my gear to max and getting all the reward from side quest there nothing to do. Also im so high leveled from doing ng+ over and over i take 2-3 minute to kill a drake. Only really enemy that takes longer are the invulnerable dragon in the unmoored world if you dont target weakspot and i could just switch to sorcerer and use a couple of maelstrom for that and it would be dead in a few cast. Ive switch to thief + not using sorcerer at all in my party because their 2 ultimate spell + that one that generate more and more explosion the more you hit something is litterally insta killing drake for me. Oh and all 3 destroy oxcart so if you use them in a oxcart ambush say byebye to your fast travel and hello to be force to travel by foot the rest of the way to your destination. Also the stamina system when out of combat we're supposed to be immortal heroes yet we can't even run for more than 15sec. Any normal human in today's world can run for more than 15sec at the same pace our arisen is running at. Also im forced to use mods to increase the game difficulty because else its too ez and i have no end game content that truly challenges me anymore. Lack of content and lack of QOL improvements is what kills the game for me. Its not an upgrade is a downgrade only good aspect is the graphics and even that doesnt seems to work as it should. The game performance is bad, someone tested all the options and currently current graphic cards could not run the game at 4k 60 fps which is the current standard for most game, wether pc or console and the framerate is not locked. The game director even said they were aiming for an unlocked framerate of 30 at 1080 on console, which just bad. Tbh i feel scammed just for having bought and pre-ordered the deluxe edition of the game. Best to play other games tbh
@@CBonduMiel that's why you never pre order, bud. Preordering is a horrible decision. You're basically giving up money for a game that's not even finished, for a game you haven't played and don't know how It runs. Preordering is a legal scam that people fall for, willingly.
Rock Saurian, fell lord, garms and wargs, and drakes aren't new. ( technically slimes sphinx, And medusa aren't either, they were in dragons dogma online. but sphinx has more complex attacks in two, and medusa was changed entirely)
In my opinion walljumping is much more fun, because it's success depends more from the player-skill. The Caves in DD1 were more unique... sure. But how many caves had the game? DD1 9/10 DD2 8/10 - if they release new content, like with Dark Arisen ( due to the missing GOOD Endcontent), there could be a chance that DD2 get's a 9/10 from me. But they have also pimp some of the gameplay-mechanics. Magic Archer was so much fun in the first game. And they've made the Archer less versatile with the Ammunition based Skills.
I said it in an earlier video, but Its these "next-gen" physics sucking the fun out of alot of these games that we expect to be faster, flashier, and more free flowing. This game was made in RE Engine; an engine specifically tailored for Resident Evil, a survival-horror experience. The animations and world is beautiful, but everything that sucked in DD1 still sucks in DD2. The physics made everything need to slowdown. In your last video you said big enemies have shit aggression, can hardly hit you, and are slow. Well so are you the player LOL imagine if enemies in DD2 moved like they did in DD1, while you're stuck in perma-Torpor? Sacrificing too much fun for shiny physics and a couple-hundred new fans. I'll stop bitching now lol
@@Maznator Dude i just looked up RAGE engine because i wasn't familiar and had no idea this was Rockstar's engine. I think thats a stretch, because those games are in their own genre and have a place, but that shouldn't be a thing in a fantasy, action-adventure RPG, especially when you already created that magic in DD1. I don't think Itsuno and the team looked and GTA5's or RDR2's physics and said "yeah, I think those silly westerners would enjoy this kind of Dragon's Dogma"... least i hope not lol more likely they figured hey we worked super hard on this beautiful and versatile engine that works very well for all of our games, and DD2 is how Itsuno and team wanted to use it.
I agree with quite a bit of this, but too much of it feels like picking at strings. You spent 2+ minutes demoing storage downgrades (which I agree suck) but then spent less than 5 showing the new stuff, half of which was on ox carts. Not gonna bother writing an essay on all the stuff I disagree with. But leaving out the obvious improvements like enemy AI, world size and population, physics and momentum, affinity/relationship additions, and above all: total content quantity... its feeling intentionally bias. Without BBI, DD1 was pretty baroness. And some of the systems were very lacking even after. I wish they improved them instead of giving up, but what we got instead is an over all better game. If the DLC is good, I’ll end up liking it more than DDDA. But as it stands the base game is substantially more filling than DD1 was at launch. Before BBI came out, I only put like 50 hours in before getting bored and feeling there wasn’t anything worth doing still. And I didn’t come back for BBI until 10 years later. The extreme pawn grind was not appealing in the slightest. DDDA sucked me back in for almost 200 hours. But I’m nearly at 300 with DD2. Largely in part because I’m making content. But still, seems as though people are lacking some major perspective on what DD1 was like at launch.
I do not agree with most of og like myself For me its the oposide After I played dd2 I deleted ddda Dd2 is absolutely amazing in every way Small thing can be fixed in one patch to make it much better but its amazing as it is already it Is Better then ddda ! You cant compare
Fanboy detected. They only real upgrade is the graphic and current generation of graphic card cant even run the game at 4k 60 fps which is a console standard on ps5. But can run other game just fine at this standard. Also at high level (not even level cap just around level 80+ will suffice) the game is incredibly easy. It lacks QOL improvement. Particularly they couldve made stamina not drain outside of combat and it wouldnt have affected the "going on a quest" experience as the dev said since ferrystone and port crystal are the only real thing that could affect such experience. Also the arisen can run for like 15sec at jogging speed and arisen are suppposed to be immortal heroes. Meanwhile ive seen elderly people jog for more than 15sec and just be able to keep going for 10minutes+ at 80 years old. How does our arisen even manage to be weaker than an 80 years old grandpa who is just a normal dude and still manage to survive in a medieval fantasy world and kill huge monsters ? It logically makes no sense. It break immersion so badly its not even fun. Also the deluxe edition of the game was a scam and costed 130$ at release for litterally stuff that don't matter at all. There is no reason for people to pay 130$ for the game yet made an edition so people who are stupid enough to pay more would get scammed out their money for litterally stuff that people admitted don't even matter. So if they don't matter they making people pay 130$ for nothing more than a person who paid 70$ paid, which in of itself is called a scam. If i pay 130$ for a game you best hope i want stuff that matter in a single player game that dont affect other people. How do you justify all that ?

That infinite economics growth people keeps talking about ? ye it can work, but only if the majority of your population can actually buy stuff. How about those Caves at 4:10
Anybody able to tell the difference?
Only cave I now the name of is the waterfall cave, as it's the only one that was truly epic to me. So maybe one of those four was the waterfall cave?
That's a great point, there are more than 50 dungeons in DD2 and I'd rather have 5 unique ones instead.
I couldn't tell the difference, but they at least seem to not be the many "Single hallway into 1 or 2 room" caves since you could actually jog in there a while
DD1 if I take a guess was
Cave with the time Thief.
Cave with the Cyclops on the rock bridge.
Waterfall Cave with the dead priest at the end.
Good point. I named all 4 of dd1 but only recognized the mine of dd2 and tought all the 4 caves were the mine.
Let me guess what the reward was in those 4 caves - Wakestone Shard.
Random DD2 NPC walks up to you in wilderness. "Hey, escort me somewhere."
You have to say yes before you can see where they want you to escort them.
How about the random a-hole pawn, that decides to boast about how great they are, trying to get hired, just as you're about to enter combat?
I'm sorry to anyone that owns a pawn, I threw into the brine for doing this. But they had it coming.
@@duffduffington843 Honestly, one of the first mods I downloaded was the one that prevents Pawns from initiating conversations themselves.

Mystic Knight being one of the subtractions will always hurt. . .
Ngl, reading that my 2 favorite vocations (ranger & mystic knight) aren't in dd2 back then before release, instantly kills 80% of my hype for it.
Coupled with technical issues and my rather old PC, I'll probably never play this game, which saddens me.
Yeah what a waste. Mystic Knight was such a reliable vocation. Have very useful skills. My go to class when going into Bitterblack Isle.
For real
10:06 don't forget Gargoyles! They were a really cool flying enemy only found during post dragon.

Man i really wanted the first dragon's dogma to reach it's full potential.
You are THE Dragons Dogma UA-camr my friend loved all your DDDA content. Most of the DD2 community don’t even know.

Nice video, Nihil. As you predicted after the hype died down, all the small channels that started covering Dogma for the first time would stop. This is the kind of content they could never produce. While Dogma 2 feels familiar and is fun to play, it's not as engaging as the original.
I enjoy DD2 but it definitely feels more like a "side grade" than an "upgrade"
That’s the best way to describe it.
"reimagined" could also work
Or a "simplified version."

I think they could still bring back Wyrm and Wyvern, and while the Drake definitely has some new moves in Dogma2, I still think he’s just the Drake from Dogma1 with a makeover.
drakes didn't cast spells iirc only Wyvern and wyrm
Including Garm and Warg in the new DD2 enemies list was cold, but understandable
I can to this channel to see if Dragons Dogma 2 is any good, because this is the guy who will know
Loot pools is the thing I miss the most.
They tried making non-gear chests rewarding by putting ferry stones and wakestone shards everywhere, but that just decreased the worth of these items to the point of them feeling like common loot.
nah since there's no eternal ferrystone, they're always good loot imho, even in unmoored where they're a lot more common, but having more chests with equipment would be nice, a lot of stuff seems to be store only
There is a lot of good gear in chests. Explore. Do the side quests
DD2 almost gaslit me into thinking you never could equip from storage. Ugh. That's a big peeve.
DD2 feels like if Ubisoft made Dragon's Dogma.
7:16 the auto save mechanic is def frustrating. But you can consistently pause and quiet before the kill-cam ends.
I miss how tough garm was in the first one where as in the second one there easy to defeat . And in the first one you get 3 at once and when they appear they have that sound effect . I miss the skills in dd2 you get 3 to 4 depending which class . I play the wayfarer class for the no restriction to what you can wear.
Modern gaming: Where less costs more, and the less is worse.
The focused bolts and elemental mage charged attacks…
It was just a trade-off. The loss of various Magick Bolts, staff melee, and a whole lot of things was utterly painful IMO. The upgrade system in DD2 isn't even really that great. Comparing pure Dwarven to pure other styles is pretty much negligible loss compared to the gains Dwarven gives. I would rather have the same system DD1 had and have equipment that actually unlock interesting effects the higher the upgrade level, instead of those separate upgrade paths.
True that, you only get the other upgrades until you unlock the dwarven upgrades.
exactly and even more so in a game like Dragons Dogma where minmaxing truly doesn't even matter
you get 3 more damage not going dwarf, one of many things that show how little fucks the developers gave about their game, which is a fking shame after 12 years.
I always say to my friends before ever buying a game watch reviews and gameplay to see if you like it or not so that you don’t waist your money on a game you don’t like.
Glad I got the Wait-And-See augment.
Not me man, this was a lesson in never trusting a company again.
10:06 - Skeleton Lords are in DD2. They're just rare. They wield giant swords that look like Saving Grace.
(i.e. Fighter and Assassin changing sword into a tank or DPS weapon respectively.)
There really needed to be vocations that shares weapons and adds new skills to them for variety’s sake. This is my biggest criticism of DD2 besides the really horribly paced story and basically non-existent endgame.
Kind of a bummer that menus and quality of life stuff from DD1 is more inconvenient in 2.
Either If the devs will update the game or mods will be made first,
I hope the game will become better.
The features from DDDA are a great start to what is missing
The caves from DD1, in order:
Catacombs, Soulflayer Cannyon and Watergod's Altar.
I hope for the DLC they will give every vocation an additional weapon and paired skills to use.
Need more talking. Believe it or not we actually like your voice man. Video was a slam dunk.
No DRAGONFORGING, you just go buy an extra upgrade with some old dude.

Most of these things can by added back with mods (which isn't to say it isn't a shame they aren't in the game by default). That Griffin when you were demoing dd2 saves…. What were they doing for all that time??? 😂
It's a skill for thief.
Just what Dragon's Dogma needed- even more inventory micromanagement from an already dated Playstation 2© era RPG system!
For me, the equipment customization and final boss fight are the most downgrade

I am sure... that I want to try it someday, to point as accurately as many flaws as possible ;) But not on Steam, I'll wait till it's not Steam exclusive anymore. Which may take between 5 and infinite years.
Happy torpor is gone?? BLASPHEMY!!!
This trick works for every monster, even on Dullahans when the sun rises and they run away like a bitch lol
Also, there's probably a very brief window of opportunity between the monster dying and the autosave kicking in to quickly reload your save.
I will wait for the Dark Arisen equivalent and I hope they "fix" some stuff by just reverting changes in 2.
Lmao 😂 This video was so good! Thank you. The fucking caves look all the same, and for me trickster is so damn boring.
@@ugn154yeah, skimped. Maybe their heart wasn't in it. Maybe it's been too long. Maybe they just didn't care about it.
Can you test rings , augments and weapon skills like dragon bites more damage output if more damage taken ?
Imo, warrior is so much better in DD2 than in DD1 that it pains me to see that the rest of the classes didnt get the same treatment, aside from that, i cant even say anything about the game because I CANT PLAY IT STABLY ON A SYSTEM THAT IS BETTER THAN THE RECOMMENDED SETTINGS, seriously, i played around 30 hours of it but just couldnt keep playing with the dogshit performance, and now, after almost two months they still havent done anything substantial about it, actually depressing.
I'm glad they allow "o" button to dash, but I dislike the hold"o" to interact settings.
Hi can anyone please provide who play music in the vid? Also love your vids nihil

When I asked someone if Evil Eye was returning in 2 and found out they wouldn't be I knew this games endgame was going to be lame, and I was right.
Will i buy it? Yes. Will it be now? Nope.
Someone know about upgrade or sell items from inventory in dd2? Because i thinking that im a dumb and cant do it.
Hey mate, if you mean upgrade storage items or sell them, no. They even fail to register with pawn forager specialization. You need to pull things from storage to upgrade or sell
You're not dumb, they removed the feature. The storage system in general has been absolutely gutted for seemingly no reason
It's amazing that QA Let that out
as for the stuffs they removed they'll sell it back to you as DLC and claim it is new.
Dogma 2 is good. But Dogma 1 is better
Any interest in DDO?
Nah, I played for about 6 months around 2016. It was fun, but I don't enjoy MMO formula
What expansion?
There is none.
the dev announced they were working on an expansion with a new map that would be the same or twice the size of the current one.
About Save testing. Just backup your Save files and restore.
Rock Saurian, fell lord, garms and wargs, and drakes aren't new. ( technically slimes sphinx, And medusa aren't either, they were in dragons dogma online. but sphinx has more complex attacks in two, and medusa was changed entirely)
maybe mods will add a lot
no voiceover makes me sad. rip
Till now DDDA> DD2
Man, after waiting breathlessly a decade for this game, I can officially say I was disappointed. Especially with the lack of enemy variety.
You wearing Comfortable neck wrap !!!! Mods?
No mods. Abyssinal Neck Wrap
Yeah it’s somewhat of a downgrade but we still got Dragons Dogma 2. Hopefully future DLCs will revisit mystic knight and other vocations.
In my opinion walljumping is much more fun, because it's success depends more from the player-skill.
The Caves in DD1 were more unique... sure. But how many caves had the game?
DD1 9/10
DD2 8/10 - if they release new content, like with Dark Arisen ( due to the missing GOOD Endcontent), there could be a chance that DD2 get's a 9/10 from me. But they have also pimp some of the gameplay-mechanics. Magic Archer was so much fun in the first game. And they've made the Archer less versatile with the Ammunition based Skills.
U forgot exequy and grapnel.
Yep, 2 more. And Necromancy and Sacrificial arrow too
@@Nihil0.0 I miss necromancy BAAAAAAD!!!!!
RAGE engine and its consequences have been disastrous for the industry.
No MK no likey
Everything I've seen about DD2 has encouraged me to skip it.
Dark Arisen is a better game in every single way, except graphics.
deez
DD2 is what you make of it. Explore the open larger wirld. Talk to NOCs for numerous quests. Very diffent from DD1. DLC may come out this summer.
Bro is playing Turkish music in background🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
The latest update to DD2 fixed some of the problems you've showcased here
I agree with quite a bit of this, but too much of it feels like picking at strings.
But still, seems as though people are lacking some major perspective on what DD1 was like at launch.
what a waste of time
also, who plays on Xbox ?
I do not agree with most of og like myself
For me its the oposide
After I played dd2 I deleted ddda
Dd2 is absolutely amazing in every way
Small thing can be fixed in one patch to make it much better but its amazing as it is already it
Is
Better then ddda !
@@CBonduMiel Agree stamina is way more of an obstacle than it should b. I was happy t pay the money tho cos i loved dd1 so much. Im still hoping capcom can somehow redeem themselves but im not holding my breath.
@@CBonduMiel of course im.the fan boy 1000+ in ddda 3 platinums on 3 platphorms
And now 300+ in dd2
Yes im fan boy I don't know what is wrong with loving a game series that you cant compare to nothing other then between two full entrees (obviously there is vanilla dd but still )
@@stampiboy1 by your standard i should be a fanboy, i got 1000+ hours in DDDA and nearly 400 in DD2, yet why do you not see me support their bs i wonder ? oh right, its because im not blinded by fanboyism and i see companies and the western world current economic situation for what they are. currently 99% of the wealth is owned by 99% of the western world population the rest is holded by people that owns these companies. That infinite economics growth people keeps talking about ? ye it can work, but only if the majority of your population can actually buy stuff. Be lucky you can even afford game, soon you won't be able to anymore. Especially since game should cost 150$ each for their standard edition if we go just with inflation alone, its either that or all game will be live services and have microtransaction and be all pay to win. that's the future my dude, and sooner or later, we'll all starve and be homeless because our salary won't be enough to buy food or pay rant.
