Have just read Submission and also get the Bukowski vibe to the novels read so far. As Huysmans runs like a thread through Submission I enjoyed recently your review of A Rebours which if I seem to remember correctly from the Ellmann biography held a fascination for Oscar Wilde and is on my TBR. Thanks.

Hi, Matthew, nice review. I've never read any Houellebecq, and to be frank, your review doesn't incline me to do so. I do like the fact that he angers just about everybody, and especially those .self righteous folk, who are often called Woke: Quite by coincidence I went to our library bookstore here in San Miguel today to pick up some books I had put on hold, and discovered a copy of Submission by Houellebebecq in very good condition which I purchased for a little over 2 dollars. I don't think I've ever seen anything by this author in San Miguel where I've lived for close to 15 years. I' doubt I'll read it any big hurry, or even at all, but it's nie to have should the mood come to me. Mea nwhile it goes into my connection of French books in translation which is already large. Cheers !
