We homeschooled for three years after the “Vid”. A job was dropped into my lap in a Christian School where my girls are going to attend. They interviewed us and said, “Do you believe men can be women and vice versa?” We said “No”. The dean smiled. Then asked “Do you have any issues learning biblical principals that are the foundation of our belief?” “No” then she said, “Good. Women are women and men are men. They can’t change. Men and women are to be married. Not men and men etc” that was the first question she asked us and I was so happy. They are so nice. Now I can make money, have kids go to school, and keep my ear open to the news in the school Part of me feels like a failure not homeschooling anymore but a stronger side of me feels like this is what I’m supposed to do.
Yea. I feel so bad for them. They did their time in the workplace. They should at least provide certain ones free housing for the remainder of their life in a complex of sorts. Many are gonna be forced to sell homes. And we’re building rentals like madmen these days. Did a 400bed unit for last year for a college campus and now a small 23 unit single and double bedroom 3 flr unit. Gonna have to ask what they’re going to charge for each style. Single is prob 1000sqft plus and double is 1500sqft or so. I’d assume 2k/mo ballpark. 😮
My little savings is gone, and we haven't even hit the real hard times. I'm praying for abundance over all of us. I have been buying extra but it's dwindling to quickly.
This was years ago, but I told my sons they better be more afraid of me than the police. My oldest son recently told me I was hard on them. I replied, you are successful and respectful adults, so it worked.
Never been to Disney, and you couldn't pay me to go now. We drive a 19 year old truck and she's been a good old girl. House is paid off. Ready for Jesus to call us home.

Hello, I'm A.L.I.C.E. As of Friday 5/2, I will be officially unemployed. The owner has decided to close the doors on his 25yr old business. I worked for a Trucking/Freight company. 25 OTR drivers, 6 in house employees, including Mng, dispatchers, Payroll, and AP/AR. On site Heavy duty mechanics. The insurance rates have more than doubled and the owner has decided it's way too much $$ and not enough revenue to withstand 750k for insurance. My pay was enough to cover my bills, but not much more. Unemployment in NC maxes out at $350 a week. This is that 1 emergency moment. I'm 1 month away from not having any income to pay my livable bills. Pray and keep praying.
Everybody I know is struggling. My oldest son and his wife used to have a little extra money. This past year, they had to sell off a Bobcat, a mini excavator, and a dually. They needed the washer and dryer moved to the basement. Electrical quote was $2400, and plumbing was $2200. We're doing it next weekend for $540 in materials. I need heater core, AC evaporator, front arms and ball joints, shocks, tie rods, and frame replaced from the cab back on my 24 year old truck. Heat/cooling runs over $2000, suspension runs over $1200, and frame work would be nearly $6000, if I took it somewhere. I'm doing the repairs for less than $1500. If I hadn't learned skills and purchased tools when things were good, we'd be in dire straits. I worked 13 hours yesterday for a nearby city, and 11 hours today. I'm watering my apple and peach trees by flashlight right now. Don't know how much more I can take on, but I don't see any other way.
I am 62 disabled living in an apt for senior citizens. Rent is income based so I can pay my rent. My income is 1,150 above Poverty level. I applied for FS's but I make too much. Of course illegal immigrants can get FS, but not USA citizens. I am fortunate in the fact I do not have any credit cards, only my car pymt and insurances. I have lived frugally my entire life, shop at thrift stores for clothing. Grocery budget is $200.00 per month. I have about that left for the month after paying my utilities and car. I consider myself blessed.
You need to clarify your numbers, because if you're getting 1150 per month, you absolutely should qualify for food stamps. Even at 1150 over the annual poverty line number should still qualify you. Someone is either outright lying to you or playing games with your application.
From the last Obama disaster 2007/08 we LEARNED …get out of debt AND STAY OUT OF DEBT. This time with him in office, we are well ahead of the curve. NO DEBT PEOPLE! Get it paid off and live simply.
I get so mad looking at my beautiful boys and knowing there future does not look like mine did.. I get mad looking at my Parents and seeing all they worked hard for they can barely afford to keep it.. they want us to own nothing and be happy, but they will have everything they want!!! SIck and Twisted people ruining my beautiful America!!!!🇺🇸
First day of school I reminded our four kids, "if you get in trouble at school, you'll be in double trouble when you get home!" All four are great adults! ❤❤😊 ❤❤
59 year old widow. I'm 4k away from being debt free. I'm a nurse and just picked up 40 hrs of OT/month. My living expenses are LOW! Putting the overage into my old age account. I can't call it a retirement account because I'm healthy and have no plans to retire. The younger nurses are too worried about their "work life balance". Granted...they have kids to get to school, ball practice, parent teacher conferences etc. My kids are grown. I'll take the OT all day every day.
Started college/x-ray school less than a month after I graduated high school. Worked, married, took months off when I had a baby. Worked till #2 was on the way. Home 4 years, back to work. We moved to the country when the kids were 12 &15. Best decision ever. Youngest was home schooled from then. It was hard to homeschool in the early 80's. When my husband died unexpectedly, i was able to maintain until I found a job. God has been good to me. Have 2 good kids, good grandkids. Blessed beyond measure.
Preach my Sister. Everyone please say a prayer I fell about a week ago and broke my hip. Now I am in rehab relearning to walk and take care of myself.😢
My in-laws got out of Communist Eastern Europe in the 80s and came here with their kids. They are heart-broken and disgusted to see how things are shaping up for their grandchildrens' generation (and my kids are 1st generation American born in their direct lineage!)
My husband makes more money than he ever has. We’ve never had to budget like we do now. When we go grocery shopping, we have to be choosy about what we can afford to buy. We consider ourselves upper middle class. If we are feeling this, I can only imagine what other families are dealing with
20 years ago my husband was laid off and was out of work for 9 months. We had to did into his 401K to stop foreclosure on our home. That "income" affected my daughter's FAFSA for a student loan. And made us owe big bucks to the IRS. As of today ... the house is paid in full and so are all my credit cards. I still drive a 22 year old car and a 14 year old truck. But ... 100% debt free!!
That 29% that are one step away from poverty don’t include the ones who are already living in poverty while working. My husband and I have been married for thirty-nine years. We lived with hand me down furniture until we saved enough to buy new. We never put anything on a credit card unless we could pay the bill in full each month. We never had more than one car payment at a time. We kept every car we owned for a minimum of ten years. We used those years without car payments to pay down our mortgage. We spent our vacation time visiting our families, as we lived a great distance from our parents. I am so glad we remained fiscally responsible all these years. It eases my mind. We are in a position to be of some help to those who are less fortunate. I agree with you on the home schooling. I was a public school teacher for 35 years. I retired in 2022. I recommend home schooling to everyone who asks my opinion on the matter. Public schools aren’t what they used to be even 20 years ago. Too much time is wasted on disciplinary issues. It’s very sad to watch our country deteriorate so quickly.
I told my kids when they were in school if they acted up and embarrassed me, I would show up at school in y curlers and robe and fuzzy slippers and embarrass them. It worked. Love listening to you.
God chose us all to live in this generation for a reason. This madness is happening for a reason. Keep prepping and most importantly stay strong and pray often!
I have a son who got a good job at the age of 18 with out going to college. He got engaged at the age of 19 to his middle school sweetheart who known her for years and then got married at the age of 20 and bought a house. This was all to fast but they are doing very well and I hope everyone else’s children is doing well too
Blessed... My wife and I paid our house off on September 11th, 2020. We picked that date on purpose. We busted "Tail" for 6 years to do it. We are blessed to be debt free living in Orlando. Loving our Governor in Florida protecting our Freedom... Stocking up like crazy... Food, water, Freedom Seeds Etc... Keep The Faith. We know what's on the way don't we ?
I’ve shared before that we have one 10 year old truck, no cell phones, no travel, no TV service for a long time. We are out of debt and we work for ourselves and helping other businesses with our efforts. Win-win.
Hit the nail on the head with the keeping up with the Joneses. For years many people I know have maxed out their credit cards for stuff they didn’t need. I was the “cheap b@stard” for years but now I’m ok. Not rich but not hungry God Bless
The thing that scares the tar outta me is to think that some of these “kids” out there in these protest across our country could be world leaders someday. The only thing I can be grateful for is I’ll be taken home with the Lord long before any one of them come into office.
In case you want to know we have hot all 10 steps in the communist manifesto. Hurry nation is done it just hasn't fell on its face yet, they, the communist, are trying to hold/juggling until after the election. Follow what this lady says
I worked with a woman who was picking up 2 coworkers every day to bring them to work. They both made more money than her, but they would not do anything to secure their own transportation. One was spending a ton of money on manicures, expensive purses and clothes, trips, you name it. She was eventually fired because she didn't make it to work when her "transporter" wound up in the ER. The other had to finally buy a car when her "transporter" changed jobs. It amazes me at how others will abuse someone because they want to spend their money on their wants instead of their needs. Take care of business and spend your money wisely.
We went to Sam's yesterday and I bought three roseteria chickens for $5 each and came home and deboned them. I got 17 packages of meat for the two of us. I checked the price of two uncooked chickens was $12 and they were smaller than the cooked chickens I got. I was glad to see some prices went down.
I usually eat it one day then boil that whole carcass n leftover meat with the “jelly” on the bottom of the tray and make soup with it. Stretches the usage an extra bit. 🎉❤
I’m so so thankful my son moved in with me in 2017. We have all his $30,000+ credit card bills paid off. Now he has a little more than that saved. 😬 he went to Walmart yesterday - he has Mondays off - and came home with 10 items to put back. Nine cans and some deodorant which he will definitely need when the shtf. I’m so thankful and very blessed that I have such a good son, we work so well together and we pool resources and all the chores that need done around here. We live in my grandparents home, which is also a blessing. Wish I could say I have no worries but it’s a constant worry these days with the stunts our illustrious (yeah right) leader(s) are pulling. Seriously tho, who is truly running the country? Sometimes I think kindergartners could do a better job. I’m doing my best to talk to everyone about voting for the right person, for putting food and water back, to buy plenty of lead, which to me is THE most precious metal right now. And to pray, pray, pray. Y’all all stay safe, head on a swivel and hang on for dear life. They’re taking us on a ride I don’t think any are going to enjoy. ❤️
I don't have to imagine. I have a friend and s/he is now living in a spare room with a buddy from highschool. They hadn't spent time together in almost 20 years and s/he showed up homeless and broke on his doorstep. If this friend hadn't have welcomed them into their home, where would they be? They have a job, but it's 4 hours a week. They have to count how many hot dogs they eat out of the $2 package to make sure it lasts the week. They drink all the free coffee they can get at work to keep hunger pains at bay. The only splurge they have is a cat that they buy cat food for weekly and can barely afford that even though it's just $6. Their total world assets are a computer, some clothing, and a few books. This person is older than me and I am 44. My heart breaks for them.
My son had a tornado go through his town last Friday. God spared their home with only a bit of damage, but 50% of the town is gone. He was prepared with a generator, water, and food. But many were not prepared physically, mentally or spiritually prepared. Prayers for all because a it’s only going to get worse. Keep on working hard people. You will need too.
I'm in mental health at a group home, and we can't find anyone to work, so thankfully, I'm allowed to work overtime. I usually get about 50 hours/ week and a second job with about 10-15 hours/ week. Makes for long days at 53, but I still feel blessed for my jobs. Paying off those debts!!!!
as soon as you put out the warning , years ago, I paid off my mortgage, my car and have zero credit card debt. I managed to put away a nice chunk of money that probably won't last more than a few years with the way the econonmy is going. I thank you for opening my eyes Patera.
When my children started school we had a first day of school ritual. I walked them into class and in front of my kids I told the teacher that if she had to correct them I wanted to be told when I picked them up. Whatever she did to correct them they would do double when they got home. They all have told that they knew if I said it , it would be done. They said just hearing and knowing always made them think twice about doing something.
At 54 Raised by a US Marine and now retired… (no college or University degree or Tech guy, just hard work in construction and Frugal) I love your content. You and your Husband are awesome!! Raised right and raising right. From a quiet Homestead in NE Alabama, we love you guys!! Keep up the great content..
Yep. Daughter got in trouble and was arrested (many years ago). Found out the next day since she KNEW we wouldn't bail her out. She was caught under age drinking (18) and DRIVING! I think the only reason she told us was that she needed advice on getting a lawyer.
I have never felt so insecure about our country as I do now. I’m very thankful & blessed to know Jesus He’s the only one I truly lean on because I see what’s coming .. I pray for us all. You’re such an inspiration to all of us to keep busy & keep going. This is reality. We are living it. You’re right. Every time I walk into a store, I tell myself get what you can, you may not be able to get it tomorrow or next wk. Lots of love to you always ♥️🙏
My son and his family go on a cruise every year. Can't get their house paid for, or get the cars paid off. Told them they won't come here when the _____ hits the fan. Like talking to a wall. Have a great day and God bless 💞
I lost everything after a health crisis. 3 strokes and heart surgery (COVID). I have the opportunity to start over and that begins of watching people like you.
When my son graduated from Navy basic training I was there to cheer him on. I asked him if boot camp was difficult, his response. Not half as hard as it was at home. I told him Thank You. You were obviously prepared for life.
Spot on again Patara. My Dad worked in a paper mill. Brutal job. If I got out of hand, my mom just had to say, "Wait until your dad gets home." Straightened me right out. That's why I am debt free. Paid off the mortgage, car paid off. Bottom line is, they wanted to live like a millionaire. They brought it on themselves.
I tell my hubby it’s time to go to Walmart when my hair is standing on end. 😊 Our cars are 15+ years old too & running well yet the idea of a car loan makes me sick. I too pif my credit card bill each month and that’s a gift after so many years owing month to month. We just don’t need much these days.
It is very sad Patara. My youngest, 30 yr old single mom just had her rent increased. Now she's not sure if she can stay. It breaks my heart. We need to pray and pray for everyone.
We got our Potatoes, peas, green beans swish chard, cucumbers, broccoli, red cabbage and lettuce planted. More crops to plant in sunny Sequim Washington!
I always told my kids that if they got locked up to not call me cause I wouldn't get them out. They could sit there and think about what they had done. They're in their 30's and 40's now and never give us any trouble. They are hard working with families of their own. I feel very blessed.
Patara - I know you know how to grow potatoes but here's a couple of tricks (I live in one of the potato capitals of the world): 1) put eyes down into the ground (not pointing up). Those are the roots so why make it harder for the roots to head down into ground. 2) MI Gardner suggests adding alfalfa pellets to the ditch for extra nitrogen / nutritional value. 3) Add sulfer pellets to the ditch. Adds a protective pest barrier and some nutrients. Hopefully this helps someone.
I've heard someone say that the "Now Hiring" signs are fake. Meaning people within said they are NOT really hiring... in many cases.. That says it all!
😢 I cried inside when one of my family members asked me if they could park a small old travel trailer on my property to live full-time. They are one of the many who spent money like crazy in the past ( cruises , shopping, trips to vegas etc.) They called me a cheap a$$ and made fun of my frugal ways. ( I prayed and saved and scrimped and paid cash for my property) I got out of debt and paid cash for my 20 year old vehicles.
My husband applied for an “open position” and couldn’t even get a call back for TWO years! He desperately wanted it but simultaneously was going to school for a change of career and working full time. Thankfully he recently heard he’d landed a job in his new career. Just hoping it stays stable!
To sit with the Holy Spirit is to find wisdom ... I worked hard and did what was right in God's eyes because I wanted to see HIM smile when I get THERE ... all is well with my soul
When I started prepping I went to 8 stores a day. I started slow and never filled my cart up. But when I got home I had 15 to 20 bags a day. Seven days weekly now I just fill in what’s needed. Yes it works and never give up on it. I feel something big is coming. Pray and prepare.
This is one reason me and others has quit the medical field. I would have lost it. Working in the lab having to call offices to get orders for bloodwork…or having doctors office tell me I never faxed over reports. I’d have records when I did. I could hear them wheel there chair over to fax machine and then they would say “oh it’s right here”🤦♀️
Patara, I was an only child. You would think I was a spoiled little brat, but let me tell you, my parents were wonderful, but they had NO problem spanking me for misbehaving or even rolling my eyes. ( got a real whooping for that!) My Dad used so much psychological warfare on me, that I used his same tactics on my kids. He would inform me that I had to go to his closet and pick the belt to be spanked with. Now do I pick the thick leather one or the skinny leather one??? Didn't matter. Still hurt. I miss both of them everyday. I was raised with a lot of love. We were poor, but I respected and loved them both.
My parents did the same, if I fought with my sisters, dad would make us get switches off the back yard bush and switch each other. We would not fight for a long time after that. Great memories, miss them everyday.
Patara, I am so thankful for you and James and the critters at your farm. You keep me grounded. If I'm not outside working, I'm working inside or shopping for food. It's become the greatest challenge to keep checking preps off the list and planting enough to can for next year. I know I will never be finished, but I have a purpose. Your encouragement has helped so much. Thanks. ❤❤❤
Made deer bologna from the deer I got with my crossbow Earlier in season. Took it out of freezer finally. Cleaning out freezers. Grinding my turkey to for burger. Homeschooling and farm chores besides gardening. Thanks for taking the time to showing others you CARE.
Just make sure that if you pay extra on your mortgage, you actually write on the bill, or checkmark ✅ if it is online: "apply to principal only!" Otherwise they will apply to your interest, and it will not bring down the principal owed.
🦁 my children are ranging from their 40's to late 20's. They knew if Momma showed up, someone was getting dragged out. Don't start something without understanding there would be consequences. This old lioness still has it!
i went to Home Depot today to get some basic 40w light bulbs. They had nothing but Ecosmart bulbs .... 4 bulbs for $12 !!!! $12! How in the world are people who are barely making it supposed to be able to afford basics like light bulbs???
'ALICE' I've been there most of my life - too much $$ for help, but not enough to have savings ... Now that I'm retired, I'm ahead of my bills, but I'm still very careful so that I don't outlive what little $$ I have. What a world we have

My Mama's axiom of child rearing was, "No, meant 'no' the FIRST time". My parents were incredibly loving & devoted parents but I can assure you that my siblings & I never wanted to find out what would happen if we pushed them to a second 'no'!
Mine was " no NEVER means maybe" its a word I tried to use infrequently with my kids ,it was saved for absolutes. If they wanted stuff they worked for it, all 5 had part time jobs from 11/13 even just cleaning stables for neighbours,or roguing wild oats etc ,potato picking etc in season. My kids are not big collectors of " stuff" none are in debt and all work hard, sometimes a little too hard..I am a proud mumma!

Age discrimination
Prayers. A lot of this going on.
I don't think it's age discrimination so much as paying a cheaper wage.

You are resilient and a good role model for you adult kids. Stay strong!
It’s hard-working, competent men like you that make their families proud. More power to you, and I pray your workload lightens. 🙏🏻
@@tsa-wnc Always. I'm too stubborn to give up.
Absolutely right! People working 3 jobs and still struggling. Why are we borrowing money to send to other Nations???? Unbelievable…😡😡😡
Same here.
You need to clarify your numbers, because if you're getting 1150 per month, you absolutely should qualify for food stamps. Even at 1150 over the annual poverty line number should still qualify you. Someone is either outright lying to you or playing games with your application.
Same
Depends on the state. @@waynewilcox4776
@@waynewilcox4776 I make 1150 above the poverty line. I will call the FS office to check out more info. Thank you.
We got rid of the tv seven years ago . One of the best, life changing things we have done!!!
Have not had TV for over 30+ years!! Just DISCOVERED YOU TUBE during the PLANdemic!!
Agree 💯.
I did the same. Best thing (almost) I ever did 💯 ✓. #ake back your life. Rid of the TV.
ME TOO! didnt even go thru withdrawal. lol
We still have the t.v. but it hasn't been on in four years, don't even know if it still works.
8 years for me
I just lost my mother, a strict disciplinary, but she was so right. I miss her so much. She was my strength and best friend. Love you momma.❤
From the last Obama disaster 2007/08 we LEARNED …get out of debt AND STAY OUT OF DEBT.
This time with him in office, we are well ahead of the curve. NO DEBT PEOPLE! Get it paid off and live simply.
So true. Been living this way all my life, as did my parents. It's indeed the golden ticket.
Amen
Exactly!!! my house is paid off and I had no debt until my cancer diagnosis...
All I gotta say is that THEY DONT REALLY CARE ABOUT US!!
Described me to the t. House paid off in 15 yrs, drive a 14 yr old vehicle and we live simply. 45 yrs old.
Ma neighbors escaped from Cuba in the 69’s.
They say what’s happening now is what they saw in Cuba before Castro took over.
It's scary times. I am afraid we are heading that way too.
If we are feeling this, I can only imagine what other families are dealing with
Same but mine keeps pulling out more loans before paying off others
If they are like me, they are dealing with dirt- gardening dirt that is 😃
Yes, same here!
Same.. and I just gotta a decent raise but it's going to grocery inflation and gas
Started a Giving Box next to my apartment laundry room. People are in need!!
I think teachers should be thanked for their service, just like veterans....but you've seen how this country treats both.
I am gonna say it again love n prayers to each n everyone of us..
Thank you

I turned my TV to the Flintstones and Tom and Jerry.😂 Too much overload of the same stuff.

Thise numbers don't even include all of us that are already living below the poverty line.
Love our Guv, too! 💪
The things that I see listed for sale on Facebook marketplace is indicating that people are struggling .
Not rich but not hungry
God Bless
I haven't owned a TV in over 4 yrs. Sitting on my porch swing watching the sun set listening to Patara
I’ve noticed lately how negative TV is ,, never anything positive or happy ,,
The thing that scares the tar outta me is to think that some of these “kids” out there in these protest across our country could be world leaders someday. The only thing I can be grateful for is I’ll be taken home with the Lord long before any one of them come into office.
The idiots that protested in 60s are running our country now!! Is that not scary enough!
Or they could become the future teachers at our public schools and universities!!
In case you want to know we have hot all 10 steps in the communist manifesto. Hurry nation is done it just hasn't fell on its face yet, they, the communist, are trying to hold/juggling until after the election. Follow what this lady says
Remember Jane Fonda and John Kerry?Vietnam?
One day at a time sister, and remember, you are not alone!
Well said.
Don't forget to make bone broth from the carcus
Ditto!
❤
I feared my Mama all of my life. Mama never had to show up.❤😂
Me too
Even as an adult I respected my mother
I just told my Bible study group - I’m still scared of my Momma & grandma (she’s 97). And I’m 51!!!😂
I feared dad. He didn’t play.
Oh man food prices have skyrocketed last couple of weeks.
I just bought 2 weeks of groceries and spent $10 more than my last trip. I did buy all the reduced salad bags to dry as herbs though.
They’re predicting that grocery prices will double in 2025. Looks like I will be eating a lot of ramen noodles!

I love your town! The lavender fields were sooo beautiful when I visited there❤❤
I always told my kids that if they got locked up to not call me cause I wouldn't get them out. They could sit there and think about what they had done. They're in their 30's and 40's now and never give us any trouble. They are hard working with families of their own. I feel very blessed.
Patara - I know you know how to grow potatoes but here's a couple of tricks (I live in one of the potato capitals of the world):
1) put eyes down into the ground (not pointing up).
We haven't had a tv on this homestead in 7 years. Cut the cable years ago.
I've heard someone say that the "Now Hiring" signs are fake. Meaning people within said they are NOT really hiring... in many cases.. That says it all!
I haven't watched TV in 15 years. The red light keep flashing when it was off. So I unplugged em and they are in spare room
Did you let them?
My husband applied for an “open position” and couldn’t even get a call back for TWO years! He desperately wanted it but simultaneously was going to school for a change of career and working full time.

I'm still grabbing 5 cans every 2 weeks...IT WORKS!
When I started prepping I went to 8 stores a day. I started slow and never filled my cart up. But when I got home I had 15 to 20 bags a day. Seven days weekly now I just fill in what’s needed. Yes it works and never give up on it. I feel something big is coming. Pray and prepare.
When I was a lot younger I could work hard like you.I cant work a lot anymore because Im elderly.
I’m so thankful I found so much clearenced meat today ! It will last all month , only spent 94 dollars
Patara, I am so thankful for you and James and the critters at your farm. You keep me grounded. If I'm not outside working, I'm working inside or shopping for food. Just make sure that if you pay extra on your mortgage, you actually write on the bill, or checkmark ✅ if it is online: "apply to principal only!" Otherwise they will apply to your interest, and it will not bring down the principal owed.
