I work at a Chevy dealer: this is easily my favorite car we sell to go about driving in. It's very comfy, the interior just "feels right" for lack of a better way of explaining it (fits like a glove when you sit in it), the visibility is very good, the materials feel nice, the third row isn't useless, the road noise is almost nill. The car feels smaller than it actually is so maneuvering it in the city doesn't feel cumbersome. This really is a good car. Don't go for the High Country trim though. The Premier offers everything 99% of the buying population would ever want.
None. We don't get information before the public does about new models. We learned about the mid-engine Corvette when y'all did :) Judging by spy shots online it's still body-on-frame and probably using the same underbody stuff from the Silverado, like previous Tahoes and Burbs.
@Nathan Young I totally agree, plus the High Country doesn't offer a 2nd row bench, forcing someone like me with a family of 5 to have to use the 3rd row AT ALL TIMES, limiting my cargo capacity. Captain's chairs are SO overrated!
Yes, I agree with everything you said. We bought the Premier because it has pretty much everything the High Country has, without the ugly brown seats. We our so happy with it. Everything you said is true. It's such a nice, comfy ride. I was always fidgeting when I drove the old Traverse, but this one is just right!
Love the Traverse. We drove a 2017 cross country with 3 kids and took it on back roads up a mountain. It was fantastic! We are actually looking at buying or leasing a 2020 Traverse now!
In my opinion you are the best Journalist in the UA-cam honest, clear, and you give your opinion straight forward. Not like other talking to much and makes you wanna skip the video. Great job and keep going❤️👍
Best on youtube? Really? Did he tell you that Start/Stop "fuel saving" device CAN NOT be turned off? So every time you go to a stop sign the engine shuts off? DEAL KILLER.
@@CamberRockerCamber Okay he said it in one second,,easy to miss. That should have been said at the beginning and he lied when he said it was smooth in operation...it is NOT. I can assure you that out or 100 potential customers, about 20% would have turned off this video in the first minute if he had mentioned this start/stop feature the first minute....instead he leads the viewers on so they will watch more of the video and give him a better revenue time. This is nothing but advertising, I did a video on the same vehicle--watch ,
Have had this for a year now. Averaging 22 combined with as high as 29 on highway for sustained driving, which is great mileage for a car this big. Only major gripe is the lack of an 8 passenger option on the higher trims (WHY?!?!). Excellent thus far and serves our purpose extremely well!
Techically, originally back there was four models that was riding in the same gm platform. 1.) Chevy traverse 2.) GMC Acadia 3.) Saturn outlook 4.) Buick Enclave
Just bought a 2020 High Country Traverse. Shopped hard. Need all the room . "Need" all the creature comforts & impressed with the twin clutch AWD & the self crashing (modern AI safety) features. Best hidden trailer hitch. Airbag between the driver & front passenger. Got the all weather floor mats. Total home run.
It's a beautiful and sleek suv very well put together in the proper layout. None of that crappy fake stuff that these other car manufacturer and dealership love to put on, that just made it look funky and very awkwardly place. It is the most easiest suv ever to work on without all the headache. For those that don't like this bodystyle, you're just weird with bad taste. :p
Excellent review! I actually just recorded a review of the 2019 Kia Sorento 3-row Crossover, and I have to say... This Traverse is a whole lot larger, but notably more expensive. Keep up the great work, Sofyan!
“Better than that Buick LaCrosse I reviewed last week” is a bit troubling to hear. This seems like a Honda vs previous generation Acura’s situation; mainstream feels better. I just prefer the interior of this car more, even if the dash area is a little disappointing. The rear looks better too. This car is just more desirable. Keep up the good work Sofyan
One thing I really like about Sofyan is that he actually goes through the trouble of getting in the third row and showing us what it's like. Small kids won't always be small kids and surely there will be some occasions when I'll have to put adults in the third row.
For the past year this car grabbed my attention more than anything else on the road, and had to have one. So I just bought a 2019 Traverse LS last week and we love it. Even though it is a lower trim, it has a lot more features than I will ever use.
My husband has the 2018 LT in the garage right now. It really is a phenomenal vehicle. It has power, not as much as a Silverado, but having owned a 2500HD in the past, the immediate power upon hitting the gas pedal is similar. Those tires will squeal. It handles quite well. Not quite an Equinox (we have a 2017), but not quite a Silverado. It has a tremendous amount of interior space, measures out to more then a Tahoe, yet the lower height allows for it to fit in small garages like ours. The gas mileage is good, especially considering it is a large SUV, it handles winter weather like a breeze. It is comfortable for long road trips with plenty of room for luggage, strollers, beach gear or just about anything else you need for a family vacation. The negatives I would say it has, the seats aren’t as comfy as my 2017 Equinox (or even the 2018 Equinox as we rented one of those while in Arizona), but with all of the possibilities for adjustments, you can solve that. I just prefer the side lips on the 2017 Equinox seat. The other negative, you can definitely feel the weight when breaking, but really that is to be expected with a vehicle of this size and it is similar to the 2500HD pick up we used to have. Overall, we love this vehicle, and would recommend it.
Very nice review of this long awaited upgraded Traverse. Everything is superior to the previous model, not as large an upgrade from one generation to the next as the 2013 Chevy Impala to the 2014.5 Chevy Impala, but still rather welcomed. You definitely hit on some good points Soyfan. I am sure that you know that the overall length of the Traverse is the exact same as the Tahoe at 204 inches, it just isn't as tall nor is it a body on frame truck based vehicle like the Tahoe. So if someone wanted a Mini Tahoe minus a few things like the 3k lbs more the Tahoe can tow, the 4x4 system, and the extra height go for the Traverse which is much less money when comparing new ones with similar equipment. Yes CPO Tahoes with low miles that are loaded can be found in the 50k range. The Traverse actually has much more behind the 3rd row seat space than the Tahoe (which isn't difficult to do), and with the 2nd and 3rd row down it has about the same space as a short box Silverado 1500 does in the bed. Just like you I would recommend the LT leather trim for the best all around value with this vehicle. I also like the tech upgrades like the 360 camera, and the rearview camera in the mirror, etc... I do agree with you on the word Traverse being too high, I would either remove it completely or if I could do it well enough move it down much further on the door if I ever got one, when I start a family.
I was shopping for a large three row crossover. This vehicle was tops on my list. Until I realized that it doesn’t have a power sunshade for the non panoramic sunroof. Then I realized how subpar certain parts of the interior are. Specifically the dash and gauges. Ended up purchasing VW Atlas SEL premium. It’s amazing. Punches above its class.
If I had to get this I would get it in white or black, then change the fog lights to led, black rims and the front turn signals to leds too. That’ll make this family hauler look very very luxurious.
We have used the heck out of our '14 GMC Acadia. Not that flashing, but these three row utility vehicles are good for hauling around the family, pets and running errands. Also taken plenty of road trips and can't complain. Which I love my '18 BMW suv, the utility of these and the size come in handy.
Having driven the 2018 Traverse a lot, I can say this is a fantastic vehicle. Cargo room is great, third row is totally usable, and the fit and finish is great overall. Super comfortable car. The Traverse has enough features in the premier edition to keep everyone happy. If you have a larger family, this is a great choice. MPG is the only downside.
I agree, the Traverse badge stamped across the driver and front passenger doors is tacky. It only needs to be on the rear tailgate of the vehicle. If you use regular fuel, does it effect the power output?
Great video man!! I love this video!!! I love the Chevy Traverse High Country You should do a review on the 2019 Nissan Altima when it comes out. I can't wait for your next video.
I have a 2010 Chevy Traverse now. I'm ready for an upgrade. we are a family of 6 and I like the fact that we can fit 8 people total in my current vehicle. I tow occasionally and would love to have at least AWD again. With kids, I imagine sticking with leather seats will be a good option. I really like the new Traverse, but I've also got my eye on the Mazda CX-9. Which is the best bang for my buck???
Hi there. I drive a 2018 traverse LT. Prior to that I drove the 2012 traverse 2LT. I was kind of disappointed when Chevy took out the 2LT in the 2018 models. Both cars were really good to me, no breakdowns, had some electrical issues with the 2012. But I am growing to be a Chevy girl through and through. I love how it drives, how much stuff I can carry. Plus it is a great traveling vehicle. I even named my vehicles. I don't think I'll ever buy any other make. I like the familiar, no financial surprises that breaks my bank. Thanks for a great review. I wanted to do a review comparing both vehicles but never seem to have the time to do it. 👌
21:06 Now thats what I am talking about. A simple compartment design. I've noticed over time that when an automobile is built with so much crap under the hood where you can't see the ground pass the motor, they tend to breakdown more. This is a simple layout where you can just stick a wrench somewhere to change a minor part without taking it to a shop and damn near take apart half of the assembly to get to a minor fix. This is genius.
@Redline Reviews i found the cooled seats to not work quite aswell because it's pretty much just a fan underneath and in the seat backs instead of an actual air conditioning system but the heated seat feature works very well it doesn't take long for the seats to get nice and toasty.
What was it like to see the video playback of all the traffic behind you in the rear view mirror while driving?!? I recall the first time I saw one of these video camera based rear view mirrors it was in a taxi cab and it tripped me the heck out just watching it. Did you find it distracting or did it make you nauseous at all?!? Just curious what you thought of it. Great review as always. 😁
The Traverse is what most folks could use when they really want the Tahoe/Yukon - and for 25K less. The High Country, while around 54K, is heavily discounted. I've seen them for 9-10K off.
Yup! My husband and i wanted the Tahoe for a while! But now that our family is growing and we dont have much time to save up for it, we are looking into the traverse
Sofyan - in some cars, such as the Dodge Challenger, you have to press and hold the button to start the ignition, whereas in others, you just have to press it once. Would you be able to clarify this aspect in future videos? I can't help but wonder every time you say '...push the button to fire up the engine' which one you are doing. Thank you.
We just traded in our 2011 Traverse for the 2019 Premier. We didn't like the High country because the seats are a hideous color, in our opinion. We love the new Traverse and can't believe the difference between it and our old one. We love everything about it!
YES GET THE V6 most recommended 4cyl dragsss . I love the traverse i have first generation, second generation, and this 2020 traverse premiere Love them
I got this high country and honestly, considering my family size (4 and will soon be 5), this is the best family size SUV and best alternative to vans for van haters like me. It does looks nicer when you're physically in/looking at it. My only problem with it is that the lane keep assist does not have an audible alert like in toyotas.
Out of curiosity, what do you hate vans so much? In my eyes, there is no "true" van alternative"unless it can deliver the same amount of amount of utility as a van personally. They're the ultimate hauler/people carriers on the planet, it's a shame that such a silly stigma are driving them to extinction. The newer ones look really nice too, most notably the pacifica and Sedona, which I think look nicer than the Traverse. To each their own I guess. Take a look at the 2021 Kia Sedona at the very least, minivans today are a far from what they used to be stylistically speaking: imgur.com/a/GtecQDz ua-cam.com/video/9XmUwNq1Jrk/v-deo.html&lc=z23ki5bbjmbrhlcsgacdp434gixin11jwcrqapuqc5dw03c010c.1579365806309012
Scotty Kilmer reported that there was transmission trouble with these Traverses. Loved the redesigned. Close to pulling the trigger if you wasn't for dealers not offering out the door pricing over the net when I requested it.
My 2020 Traverse, Premier trim, does NOT have a USB port in that hidden compartment behind the infotainment screen??? Also, not sure of the '19 and lower, but on my 2020 model when the info screen is raised, when you put it in reverse it closes automatically which is definitely a flaw to me. It's got some quirks, but all in all it's not a bad family car thus far.
Wow that is an amazing vehicle! And not only that you get the quality and reliability of a Toyota with that engine and drivetrain! Chevrolet and General Motors has hit it out of the ballpark with this new edition! The rear tail lights could use a little tweaking and some more aggressive wheel wells would be nice on the fenders other than that phenomenal incredible
I agree I have a 2013 model love it...drove a 2018 while getting service and hated it it felt werid and I was nervous the fucking thing wouldn't restart lol
I have a Malibu and have that annoying start stop feature. And no you really don't save fuel even in traffic. That shit just restarts itself because the AC is on. Useless feature in Texas
that screen going up and revealing a hidden cubby is cool but looks like it goes up too high, affecting front visibility.. didn't watch much on this one, cause this car is not on our radar, but the equinox is.
One thing journalist love to ignore is incentives. This suv at $54,000 you can probably leave the dealer lot with it at $47,000, which is very similar to the palisade but the palisade has no incentives.
Full-time car review UA-camr. Gotta pay the bills right? Dude just ditched a Miata and bought himself a Cayman and a dual motor Tesla M3. I'd be working too hahaha
Finally , reviews by someone more my height . Now if someone could just review this kind of vehicle with a family of six packing for a long weekend or vacation .
Have always wanted to ask you if I may, in regards to chevrolet Vehicles, would you happen to know the reason why Chevrolet did away with the Famous RED bowtie and went with the current Yellow one as it is now, when they had the RED Bowtie, they always had a slogan that went along with it, Beware of the RED Bowtie.........also somthing that SHOULD be added in the those touch screens that pretty much ALL new vehicles have nowdays along with the already Included apps should be Gasbuddy, its actually a pretty good app if you dont know where the next nearest station might be and how much their gas prices actually are.....
Ricky Holmes The Explorer is a horrible example whether its platinum or not. They need to get rid of those crappy gauges that have been around forever. And the infotainment system needs a complete overhaul. The Navigator, however, does have a fantastic interior.
Honestly, for this price point, Chevy should give this vehicle an option Twin Turbo V6 and even a diesel option, as well as, like you said, extending thigh support. I would say massaging seats but I would save that for the Buick Enclave. But other than those things, this vehicle is a GREAT road trip vehicle. Excellent seats, lots of room, theres a lot to offer in this vehicle. Other than the things I said that Chevy should offer in this car, what more could I want?
The interior is almost exactly the same as the Buick Enclave (understandably so since they’re all GM owned) but I didn’t expect them to be practical clones of eachother.
I bought a Traverse High Country . Black outside /medallic .it has black mats with leather interior with a Mahogany colour leather seats. I wish it was $54.k I paid with taxes $62k.I love driving it. great riding vehicle and love the space .Also a lot for the driver seat very comfy .Wish Chevy would of had a recording camera for accidents /pedestrians. Like to have the complete coverage for the front window .If anyone knows where I can purchase a recorder for the H .Country Traverse so it doesn't look tackie...Thanks
I contacted the local Chevy dealers late last year and told them I was interested in having a look at the Traverse High Country, would prefer one in red. Kept getting emails about what they had in stock, but no Traverse High Country. So, I traded in my GMC for a new Ford Expedition this year, a blue one. One of the sales guy told me that "colors don't sell" which is why nearly all the cars they had in stock are white/black/gray. Really?
I have a few gripes with this car. I definitely think for 2019, they should have given it that beautiful new steering wheel in the 2019 Silverado. I think the 2019 Blazer having it rather than this is kinda ridiculous considering that's the smaller sibling of the Traverse. Also, where's the black headliner?! I hate that tan, the black suede would make it so much more high class, since this car is the HIGH Country and $60k+!
Looking at this model and a Pilot/Highlander. My biggest concern with a Chevy is it holding up over time and its resale value. Its a much nicer looking vehicle than the Pilot
Edward St-Pierre. The is no car that has that, idk why you would think EXCLUSIVELY a Traverse would have that? Minivans may have the vent 3rd row windows..... but really it doesn’t do anything. Are you actually stupid or do you just not research?
It's all about gearing. That 5th gen Camaro is geared to top out over 160 mph. The Traverse will top out around 120, most likely, giving it more low end to accelerate with.
Damn I'm torn between this one and the 2019 dodge acura sport hybrid car they are both so beautiful, but there's is a few things I don't like about both of them. Right now I have the 2015 traverse ls

$54 grand is what a base model rear drive tahoe costs and their third row is useless, so this doesn't seem like a bad price at all.
From what I'm hearing, the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe is going to get an independent rear suspension to give it more space inside.

Not heavily discounted at all. Its very overpriced
Just bought one. Love it.
Awesome honest review, keep up the good work!
Thank you.
Best in segment cargo capacity with all seats down, along with sister Buick Enclave.
The only Chevy I will ever buy is a Corvette
Riceman yea that’s cool
Ricky Holmes same those are the best sellers
I'll buy the camaro zl1
Thunder 101 would you get the 10 speed auto or 6 speed manul
Sml?
I just love your reviews. At 17:30...the rev up noise..isn't that bad to hear in a new car?
We just traded in our 2011 Traverse for the 2019 Premier. We didn't like the High country because the seats are a hideous color, in our opinion.
We love the new Traverse and can't believe the difference between it and our old one. We love everything about it!
I'm sure the high country seats come in more than 1 color. You can build your car online nowadays
@@DeeeBeee123 yeah I don't know. My husband acted like that was all you could get. Either way, we love the Premier!
This ride looks sweet👍
Nice review sofyan.
YES GET THE V6 most recommended 4cyl dragsss . I love the traverse i have first generation, second generation, and this 2020 traverse premiere Love them
This is the 2nd generation......
@Redline Reviews they still have the 2lz premier too. that's gotta be confusing when you want to get a luxurious interior.
Take a look at the 2021 Kia Sedona at the very least, minivans today are a far from what they used to be stylistically speaking:

But is the glovebox damped and lined in felt?
I had a 2014 traverse and love it.
Scotty Kilmer reported that there was transmission trouble with these Traverses. Loved the redesigned. Close to pulling the trigger if you wasn't for dealers not offering out the door pricing over the net when I requested it.
Bengal Ghost Scotty Kilmer? Lmao
I have a 2010 and its been in the shop the entire time ive had it from the dealership. The last thing to happen to it was a blown engine
Check and change your oil regularly. Not doing so will get all of those early High Feature V6s.
Do a video on the 2019 Malibu when it comes out
Wow that is an amazing vehicle!
There is nothing amazing about it lol
Im amazed at the weight. Must be a lot of aluminum or UHS steel
No defeat of the auto start/stop is a deal breaker.
I agree I have a 2013 model love it...drove a 2018 while getting service and hated it it felt werid and I was nervous the fucking thing wouldn't restart lol
You don't like saving 10% more fuel?
I have a Malibu and have that annoying start stop feature. And no you really don't save fuel even in traffic. That shit just restarts itself because the AC is on. Useless feature in Texas
Elijah Golden The 10% you save in fuel won’t matter when the starter fails at 60,000 miles.
Kent that's why I keep my Chevy Cruze in L gear so the start stop feature is disabled plus it turns off all the damn time as I live in CA.
that screen going up and revealing a hidden cubby is cool but looks like it goes up too high, affecting front visibility.. didn't watch much on this one, cause this car is not on our radar, but the equinox is.
54 grand for a Chevy? Yikes.
Wtf that's so stupid
Considering how big and we'll equipped it is with all the options I don't see a problem with the price if you can afford it.
keri ellerbe that’s true honestly it’s reasonably priced
Ricky Holmes facts that’s more luxury territory
cant believe its not full LED
One thing journalist love to ignore is incentives. This suv at $54,000 you can probably leave the dealer lot with it at $47,000, which is very similar to the palisade but the palisade has no incentives.
For all the features and the price, they might as well have badged it as a Cadillac and add better soft touch materials.
Love your reviews Sofyan!
Wtf you are working non-stop lately Sofyan
Full-time car review UA-camr. Gotta pay the bills right? Dude just ditched a Miata and bought himself a Cayman and a dual motor Tesla M3. I'd be working too hahaha
@Yousif Salim good input so he's still paying for an expensive car ty
LMMFAOOOOOOOO
Yousif Salim still paying
Work hard, play hard! :)
My 2019 GMC Acadia’s infotainment screen doesn’t even slide up
Kia telluride 2020 or this car?
Review the Buick Enclave, please.
The fog lights doesn’t come standard LED?
American auto companies- no matter how much money they throw at a model- just can’t get an interior right.
Lincoln?
Lincoln and Cadillac are pretty good imo, but the Japanese are the best.
@@805NAVE Cadillac does not have nice interiors
Interior is the least of GM's problems.
Yea they should of definitely used the twin turbo v6 at least for the High Country model.
@@rashaudl.1605 And the RS model, which would also get a firmer suspension and other things to make it a sportier version.
@@moviesmetalmusicmotorvehic4828 Right that would be cool as well.
@@rashaudl.1605 Yeah, it would really expand the interest in this car thus resulting in higher sales.
MetalAndMotorsGuy506 its a family car not a sport suv lol
I like your reviews! Thanks
It looked like when you closed the door the center screen flickered. 5:27
SUPERMAN51878 oh god lol. That’s not good.
@@Dvasqz quality control lol
SUPERMAN51878 yea I just noticed that and it’s weird since it’s a new SUV
Hahahahaha quality for you
It’s normal, when GM cars shut driver door the welcome screen comes up, that’s exactly what he did.
Excellent review.. definitely keeping this one in my top 5 for next year.. decisions decisions lol
Why would thus be on your list? It's terrible
His review saws very positive.
Blake Swan We own a 2018 LT and love it.
Really?
So, can I defeat the auto start-stop by tricking it I’m towing something? Like trailer tester, etc.
The reason why it felt so slow is because Chevy limits power with the awd models fwd is wayyyyy faster
16:13 Is that the one reliable GM V6 engine that Scotty Kilmer was talking about?
Looking at this model and a Pilot/Highlander. My biggest concern with a Chevy is it holding up over time and its resale value. Its a much nicer looking vehicle than the Pilot
I love my 2018 Traverse Premiere.
When the first traverse was released, there were FOUR vehicles on that platform.
Saturn Outlook
GMC Acadia
Buick Enclave
Chevrolet Traverse
52,000 and don't forget the dealer cost is 20-22 percent so around 10 g profit
Time to hagel
You missed the relatively deep storage well behind the 3rd row at 3:38
I love my 2018 Traverse
I wish you reviewed basic trim cars...that's where most people buy it anyway
Nice job on the video !
I would like to see the third row have it's own electric windows just like the middle windows
Edward St-Pierre. The is no car that has that, idk why you would think EXCLUSIVELY a Traverse would have that? Minivans may have the vent 3rd row windows..... but really it doesn’t do anything. Are you actually stupid or do you just not research?
Surprisingly, Car and Driver got a 6.5 0-60 with the V-6. That's pretty stout!
Cory Stansbury the 200 mile 75 mph drive was getting 27 mpg?!
Their pulling magic to do that a 5th gen camaro with the same motor that has more hp and automatic is around 6.2
0-60 times are deceptive. depends on driver, location etc..
Cốp sau rộng lớn hiếm có ở mẫu xe khác trong phân khúc
Where is the 2022 traverse, why no revision on it?
Thanks. Very informative
