Summer 2002, a shitty town in NC. I'm shopping at the local metal/punk outlet with what little money I have from mowing lawns. My newest friend is there with me, we've bonded a little over our music tastes in the past, bands like In Flames and Pantera. The old man who runs the place kind of befriends us and recommends this band we've never heard of, Arch Enemy. My friend had extra cash so he buys Wages of Sin. We head back to his house to play it because his parents aren't there. We hear the opening piano riff of Enemy Within and we're confused -- until the beat hits, then the guitars come in and... We just smile at each other as we know this will be the soundtrack of the summer. Good times.
Close to my introduction. Shitty small town in WNC. My best friend got me into metal. I was into numetal stuff (Otep, Kittie, etc). He was into black metal and stuff. We're watching Headbanger's Ball one night. This video came on and both of our jaws just dropped.
