@party6panda The alcohol activates the pigment in the makeup palette. There are many brands of alcohol based makeups, ranging from P.P.I. to Reel Creations. They're primarily used for realistic makeups due to their water-proof nature and translucent qualities.
when I was younger, I use to think Shinso (sorry if I spelt his name wrong my device is being stupid) From my hero academia was hot, so I use to put bags under my eyes... I highly regret doing it I looked so miserable XD

I had to go to a costume party and since I've broken my leg I wanted to dress up as some kind of patient. So I simply used a normal powder eyeshadow in dark purple (from Dior) and a pink eyeliner (some cheap brand), cause it was what I had on hand and everybody was positve that the black eye was for real - so thank you very much for all the tips!

you did a very excellent job man. im impressed :P I was wondering where I can obtain the makeup/paint you were using... can I get it at a local shoppers drug mart or something? and does it fade away or wash off after a certain a matter of hours?

I'll be trying to replicate this during a school project - I'm doing the make up on a guy that gets beaten up, and needed to know how to do a good black eye. This is perfect!

another tip for these who don't have castor oil or K-Y; use just normal lip balm (not gloss, balm), it works really well and you can buy it really cheap!

Great job! I have a few questions. Where can you get creme palets? And when you are making the inside of the rim look irritated can you use like a red eyeliner? or do you have to use creme based makeup? I am a sophomore in high school and i turn 16 on the 12th of this month and i want to work on horror makeup and makeup like this so if you can give my other tips on stuff like this it would be awesome =) Thank you.

I need to do a black eye in 5-10 seconds... so I knoe easier and faster way, just take dark and little lighter red mix it together (on sponge or paper towel peace) and a little little bit of black and just spnge it on you're eye! (eye shadows) it would be easier to make video and show it...

What is/where do you find alcohol paints or creme based makeup? Sorry, I really don't know a lot about this stuff. I know facepaints, watercolors and normal makeup, but not the color wheel you were using.
Great video! What would you recommend for some sweat resistance using this technique?
I'm a MUA & I noticed Amber Beard testified in four on "how to cover a bruise" but her description is actually how to CREATE a bruised affect. Can you or another INDUSTRY instructor address this ?ASAP
i walked into a hospital with this and a bloody nose and torn lip all with make up you should have seen the looks on their faces lol

@loveisloudermusicfan, You can purchase rubber mask grease paint palettes at any of these makeup stores: Frends Beauty Supply, Nigel's Beauty, or Naimie's Beauty. These are all stores which we advise our students to shop at. You can use red liner pencil for the eye, just always remember to sanitize all your makeup between uses.

We use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol, or 99 IPA in industry speak :)

@Cinemamakeup have you tried the PPI Activator or Slow Activator or Telesis ISO gel instead of the 99% Alcohol?

Im a film student shooting a webseries this tuesday and was wondering where I could find some urgent make up assistance (black eye, bloody lip and bloody hanger lacerations on the back)...my original person flaked and I have a 3 hour shoot this tuesday...please help!
