    Thanks for the excellent review Devvon! Regarding integrating a sub, you can actually use the ALT out for the sub. All you need to do is disable auto-muting for monitor switching in the MBOX Control software and then assign monitor mutes too a couple of the User Action buttons. That will allow you to pop the sub in and out with a button press. You could also do something similar with the line outs/sends if you want to run 2 sets of analog monitors plus a sub. The S/PDIF dig out can also be used for digital monitors aso that's an option as well if your monitors or sub have a digital input. Lots of ways to customize workflows when you start digging into MBOX Control. Cheers! 🤙🏽

    It has the features of the old Eleven Rack minus the digital amp modeling. That's actually quite a cool idea.

    Being it ended up priced $600 it's a lot for that price. It also has some built in effects for the headphone mixes and the talkback can be routed to a track. Seems like a good bang for the buck interface

    Thanks for doing this I think it's the perfect addition and little brother to my Carbon and would be great for traveling. It's built to tackle a wide range of session scenarios, plus the additional ADAT inputs could allow for tracking a full band with an added 8 channel preamp like the focusrite 8 channel preamp for example.

      Yes. I just wish u could daisy chain carbon and mbox studio like Apollo does. Keep mbox on desk easy access and monitor controller carbon in rack. Talking to Sweetwater sounds like pt didn’t do this like UA Apollo it’s a extension to there rack allowing it to be so many things.

    Excellent review Devvon, especially the listening tests. Through K240DF phones I hear pretty much what you've described. For me the Mbox Studio preamps are just acceptable (compared to the pricier Prism) and I'm surprised by how good the Mbox convertors sound in this test. Coming from a 1U interface the desktop form factor would take some getting used to, but I do like the ergonomics - layout and large well-spaced controls. Thanks for sharing this.

    I don’t think if this interface was given to billy eilish brother Or a big producer we could tell the difference in converters in the final mix. It’s so so so minimal it’s hard to hear. Apples to apples with no dsp on. Blows my mind some mixes I hear through cheap $150 interfaces on UA-cam. It’s a struggle because I’m a gear head. I own a Apollo twin. Makes me think about selling it for this the Bluetooth output is so dope. And the software I mix on a avid 100k mixer for FOH live sound This shares a lot of that same routing and suggests. Brilliant

      I think if u use the Adat output u can gain another 8 outputs so therefore yes. Atmos can be tricky because the magic that genelec does for example on there room correction SAM system it time delays ea monitor and the height channels so it sounds like it should then u get the Dolby renderer Some workarounds but I think u could do a 18i20 Adat

      Ive been thinking about that alot actually unrelated to the MBOX. With the power of new computers do we really still care so much about DSP in our interfaces. Im genuinely opening up this convo for perspective

    • @jdub70
      @jdub70 2 роки тому +1

      MBOX Studio has a 4 band parametric EQ on every input as well as a stereo Delay/Reverb FX bus built in for low latency tracking workflows. They're also AVID effects algorithms taken directly from AVID AAX plug-ins so they're high quality.

    • @erwabo
      @erwabo 2 роки тому +1

      They did say in their literature and I think also in the Sweetwater review "On-board DSP provides access to EQ, delay, and reverb effects which can be monitored via the headphone outputs, helping to maintain low-latency performance during tracking. The DSP is also used to power a built-in instrument tuner."..but yeah unless you are a Post Studio or doing a TON of tracks, DSP is barely needed anymore IMO.

    Avid support is the worst. They don't even bother with driver updates to fix widespread problems. It might work for now but next time you update your windows it could become a brick and they won't care. Be warned.
