You were person to hip me to RME when I first watched this video. I’m thinking to myself, “His come this guy isn’t using an Apollo Twin X?” I had one at the time. About 6 months ago, a friend of mine schooled me on RME Interfaces. After further research, I sold my Apollo Twin X and purchased the RME UCX II. I’m happy with it.
Dude I subscribed no more than 4month ago and you’ve made so much stuff just make sense even if I learned it in school already you just put in ways that’s easy to understand. You would be a AMAZING audio teacher bro. Keep up the good work.
Not sure if you noticed but you pointed out a key focus in engineering as a whole. Function/applications/hardware that do one thing and are really good at that one thing. Im a software engineer (and artist, which is why I subscribe to you) and it kills me when I see people throw crazy amounts of operations in functions used to accomplish one thing. Won't go in detail but I like that you pointed that out. Amazing channel btw, taught me A LOT!
Pretty dope video, and unlike many other people, you're not misguiding your listeners. You seem to actually know what you're talking about. Much love and respect. Thank you
Man I like how you approach everything on your channel. I'm not new I the sense of producing, but what was my childhood dream, which was to be a producer and music engineer, you made that dream come alive again. When I see all those producers in UA-cam explaining and giving their knowhow, they don't come as near as watch you teach here. I'm a big fan and keep on teaching us. Really informative. And God bless you.
Its crazy how I had found your channel a few months back, but I didn't subscribe for whatever dumb reason, but then I got on Lum and saw you killing it! Had to see your UA-cam and then I remembered your tutorials. Your killing it bro. Your hustle is hard!!!
Just what I needed to see to decide on my next purchase, I figured you were using a preamp. You need to drop more videos man, these are really good for self producers like my self.
Would love to see a list of studio equipment for different budget ranges! Love all your videos devvon. You have no idea how much you've impacted my life and career with your tutorials thank you so much bro.
That Neumann U87 was our go to at the studio I used to work at, damn u got the 710 too thats such a good pre for the price! I've always wanted a avalon but my budget hasn't got there yet. I really want a RME Fireface, even tho I stay in 44.1 most of the time.
I had the Hs5 then got the Hs80 and returned them. The flat response of the Hs5 helped my mixing way more. I just starting building my 500 series rack and that Neve is looking nice.
Hey devon i love your videos a so much. Iam little confused between macbook air 2017 and macbook pro 2015 which one I should buy for music production. Please help me devon :)
Amazing ! I run my 103 with my 710 Twin Finity & Apollo Twin . Thank You for breaking it down for me. At first, I was self-learning but your video made me understand my 710 a lot more Thank You Brotha. Just got me to Subscribe !
Man, thanks a lot Devvon! for real tho, you helped a lot of people who are producing music by themself and myself included! thanks a lot once again man! keep creating these contents please!!
11:40 exactly why I switched my monitors. I had the Mackies and had a hard time with my highs and lows, The 2nd gen mackies were coo but.. My HS8's have the bass and high response that helps me mix a little bit better. Overall people need to learn their speakers and rooms.
Man listen!!!! Your videos are such inspiration!!! I do a lot of gospel and I’ve been incorporating your techniques and it has did wonders!!!! Thank you soooo much
You give great info always, one thought though. I appreciate that you like Neumann mics, I do too. It's just that the TLM 103 really represents the bottom of their LDC line. I think a productive perspective for many of your followers is that this is a LDC with a cardioid pick up pattern and for those starting out and maybe on a budget, there are options in the $250-450 range that can get them 95% there. I just don't like idea that some of these kids are thinking they should go to GC and get that hot $1000 mic, when so many other elements in the technique and signal chain add up to that great vocal sound. I respect your work for sure and I know the purpose of this video is to show what you use, but you're able to pull the most out of gear like this because of your experience and the time you've put in.
Thank you for this video Devvon. As someone trying to get better at producing and bettering my equipment, I am extremely appreciative of people like yourself who show the equipment they use, why they use it and, especially, how it works. Solid and concise explanations. Great video. 👌🏻
Ooooh ok now i see why your Music sounds so good, i was like i know he had to be using other equipment, like your Hardware, very Expensive Hardware at that. Good job my Brother.
@@HelpMeDevvon Yes you are correct, the Neve Portico II Master Buss Processor is expensive but,,, i am going to invest in one, and i will send you photos when i do. I need your whole setup info if that's possible, DM me would mean you said YES!! Lol
I have a Warm Audio WA87 that I’ve been using in my project studio for years. I think that UA 710 is gonna give me the more lively, warm, thick tone, I’ve been looking for.
im intrested in the MBP. new one is out and it aint cheap. I just picked up the portico ii channel. RND makes some nice stuff. wanted something a little cleaner than my bae 1023. great piece. nice video bruh. been watching you for a minute now.
Hey Devvon, I listen to you describe the 103 in such great detail, and I’ve been following you for months maybe even past year, I’ve been an engineer well over 15 years and you just sharpened the dull edges of my Tools. Appreciate you for that... also I want to say that you should get the TLM 107 and thank me later, it’s a bit more pricey but I had for 5 years and it’s the best mic especially with the some good front end gear. But even without still is an amazing mic.
Very informative bro... Thanks for doing this... But yes I'm interested in knowing more about the Neve Master Bus Unit and the way you use it.... Blessings.
How are you running out of each piece of equipment? Are you using any digital outs? let’s say digital out of your audio interface into your presonus monitor station, The monitor station is pretty good but its analog conversion is decent. Try running in spdif if you are not already and do an A/B, huge difference. Just a thought.
Shalom! Nice setup I just picked up the Heritage Audio RAM System 2000 mastering, monitor controller I looked into the dangerous music and MCI 3.1 but the heritage was the cleanest with it digital solid gold 64 step relays, and my master chain is the Apollo X6 I’m contemplating the twin Finity or focus right ISA 2 or a API lunchbox with about eight 500 modules!! The converters on the Apollo X are Solid I don’t do vocals, but I still want to purchase a Nother external preamp to run my Key61 OK Sp404mk2 & Live2 to run threw! It’s crazy because I just got rid of the monitoring station V2 I had to go into the high end spectrum of things what a world of a difference it makes. Great video Brotha 😎 Shalom!!
Man keep up the great work! Your music is incredible bro. & I feel you on the monitoring controller, Highly important when especially using A/B (and C) switching. I feel like you we're glimpsing Ermm, Mackie* Cough cough* to us. haha, However I had the Presonus Monitor station V1, then replaced it with the Big Knob, I noticed it colored the sound in the midrange alittle bit, Got rid of that and pulled the trigger on the cheaper Behringer Xenyx Control2 to give it a shot, And I've been soo happy with it ever since, the Midas modules they use sound extremely transparent with no difference from my interface I/O, doesn't color or discolor the sound at all IMO. Using a Apollo x8p as my A/D, and DAC. Speakers are HS8's, HS5's And 4x Custom Sundown SA12s subs powered by a 6000dsp, fully tuned with REW and plays flat down to 12hz along with a Optimus 12" to fill the 50-95hz range which all subs are on my 'C' switch.
Thank you Devvon for uploading this video! The other channels on youtube that try to explain this simple setup for engineers/producers trying to get into hybrid setups are so complicated because they're using patch bays with a hundred wires and gigantic mixing consoles with 20 pieces of hardware. Maybe in your next video you could please explain how the signal chain works for running software sounds (like in nexus, serum, omnisphere etc) through analog hardware like your "Neve MBP II" and then back into Pro Tools or any other DAW to get that analog sound. I'd really appreciate that!
Devvon, Thanks so much man! Have you done a vid on what Filming Equipment you use, your editing process and how you get the awesome Vid Text, any vid filters and audio boom mics & lighting? Would love a vid on that. I'm a singer, songwriter, producer & Trap/EDM DJ. I have the Nuimann TLM-102, Apollo Twin interface, Adam Audio speakers with Abelton on my Macbook Pro 2015. I officially Subcribed.

I know you're a Pro Tools guy, but it would be nice to have some Logic Pro X mixing templates from you. Keep doing your thing though! Bless up!
SandoSagaboy working on that as we speak!!
Help Me Devvon can you do a tutorial cleaning up a vocal? Having your mic thay close to your laptop must pick up fan noise and such. Thank you devvon!

I love how you break things down to simple terms. No monster ego on this channel. Respect!
SoulTech Media no problem!
And I like to get straight to the point no gimmicks just giving information clearly and concisely!
Yeah, this mans legit!
so true
Preach it
Mic - Audio interface - Laptop.
Love how simple recording is now, thanks for sharing.
external pre amp too
Finally a cool guy who explains audio stuff. I couldn’t take these oldheaded mid 60 people anymore🤣🤣
Lol. Thinking the same thing. So annoying and hard to grasp information from most of them.
You better preach... finding someone in the Audio space that you actually want to be like is a myth ...
@@robreal6476 And so much ego involved with those guys too
Lmfaooo... you should check out i am lxgend, he’s pretty cool too
Should i buy the Mojave MA-200 or the Neumann TLM 103?
Can't tell you how much you've taught me man! A truly natural teacher. Thank you!
