- This is a challenge run where I beat the game without any on screen text. I had to do all menuing and everything based on memory. If I try this again I'll have to remove the curser and windows...we'll see if that ever happens.
This was one of the more interesting challenges I think you've done. I really like the runs where you use the whole party (like the "as intended" run) rather than power leveling up a few toons to carry the team. But I guess that's necessary in a speedrun format.

j/k, this was a badass run! I've thought about trying to play a Japanese copy of FFIV. I've finished that game dozens of times. I could probably recite the storyline, but spells and weapons/items would be a pain...
@@Typical.Anomaly just being able to see text and gold prices and what you have equipped, if you have something equipped helps lol. I can't read Japanese but playing the JP version is so much easier compared to having no text at all.

Memory check goes crazy, I was waiting for u to accidentally sell sun sword or buy SABR or something but you handled somehow
I did make a mistake early on, I bought a hand axe instead of a short sword...but I hardly buy weapons in that shop anymore. It was minor and didn't really hurt me.
This is incredible. I've been playing this game again, and I remember most things from memory, but dang.
I look forward to visiting your site once or twice a week. I’d very much appreciate it if you would make a random challenge every week just to maintain my interest. You know like different characters and stipulations. Thank you!
Not going to lie. This was the hardest thing to watch. I only finished it because i wasn't going to leave one video unwatched. Lol. It triggered me not knowing where gear, items, and statuses were at. Probably won't watch another one unless you figure out how to run a non modded version in tandem. Lol. Great job though!

@shanezell I'm not complaining. I'm really not. It just showed me how much I rely on visuals in ff1. I really am impressed by your skill set. Especially in ff1.
@@andrewstone8657 I think a lot of us do in most games. If I ever do this kind of run again I'll have to play two games at once...one with and one without visuals.
This was really cool. When the title just said "no text" I thought it doesn't sound interesting or that challenging. Luckly I watch every one of shane's videos. This wasnt just no text. It was no text AND no icons. Normally I just watch these videos to fall asleep to, but this one was one to watch while awake. I think "semi-blind" for the title could get more viewers. If you do decide to do this run again and make even more things invisible though, I would caution you not to remove things needed to keep it fun to watch. Not sure what that might be, but i cringed at the idea of there not being a cursor. But I will watch either way, keep it up!
When I did this on Twitch I called it a Semi-Blind" run and every other person was like this isn't a blind run you're watching the screen and blah blah...So I figured no text was just safer to not confuse anyone. If I do the run again I plan to try and play 2 games at once where on one screen you guys get to see the game with normal gameplay and a smaller screen for you guys would be my screen with almost nothing on it. The problem is getting the NPC RNG to line up right on both games...until I can figure out how to do that I will not try the challenge again.
I swear, you're a masochist; the shit you put yourself through in this game. :P
On the other hand, as someone that has played this game for.... 32 years.... I might be able to handle the no text challenge. haha

He’s done solo runs. They are all on the channel. Solo thief was the longest, I think. 20 hours or so.
