To answer so many comments, the reason lots of the videos are in portrait is because we never intended to do UA-cam, instead we did Tiktok which is a portrait format. Because of this, lots of our old videos are in portrait but they showed great footage of our progress which is why we have included them 😊
You just answered my big question! Lol I'm seeing so many of these château renovations nowadays on UA-cam. What a massive undertaking. Ugh! Lol That cat really likes being on camera.
My, oh my! What a huge undertaking. I can’t even imagine the amount of intestinal fortitude it takes to just get up each morning and start the process all over again. Hats off to you. I’m in awe of your progress thus far and there aren’t enough adjectives to describe my admiration of you and your family for restoring this lovely chateau to its former glory! Cheering you on from PA, USA!
I loved this look into the nitty gritty. And it's quite gritty. Best of all is that you have the skills to do the work and can recreate the life of this place together.
Thank you!! These are just old videos thrown together that were never actually meant for UA-cam, which is why some are portrait 😂 but im glad you enjoyed it!
Oh my goodness! you are such hard workers!! How brave you all were to take on this enormous task!! I am really looking forward to seeing how you progress 😀💜💜💜
I'm playing catch-up on your catch-up videos lol. Was excited when Michael had showed us around a bit of your place. Looking forward to seeing your adventures.
Bravo! How exciting. I love the chandelier. The new wall lamps look beautiful too. The lavoir would make a lovely pond for water iris or horse tail or papyri or lilies. The new joists look great. What an huge improvement. A fully funtioning kitchen is priceless in a home. Don't you have gas fireplaces in France? I would swear that when I lived in France 40 years ago our house in Nevers had gas chauffe eau. You're making great progress... Crack on!
Unfortunately we don’t have mains gas in the village. Any gas appliances we have to run off bottles which are expensive. Hopefully before next winter we will be replacing the boiler with a wood pellet system. Then we can get the radiators up and running but the new oven will be electric
It makes such a big difference being able to carve out a little tiny place for yourself somewhere to eat sleep clean up be warm. You certainly have done a lot in that time and what a find there your well laundry and toilet.
It definitely makes a huge difference improving things like where you eat and shower extra, quality of life becomes much more enjoyable! Thank you for the support!
🇨🇦❤️Thank you for sharing your progress so far. I’m definitely looking forward to following along as you make your home both functional and beautiful. 👍🏻
It's great to see the progress you guys have made. I love the light fixtures. I'm so glad that you have videos of the work being done, even though you weren't planning on a you tube channel, but this is really interesting & well done, so glad you shared this! Good luck, I can't wait to see more. It's a beautiful chateau! Thank you, take really good care of yourselves, stay safe! Kathy x (Ontario, Canada)
Amazing find / work on the temporary kitchen and your skills when it comes to things like plumbing and electrics must be really good to pull off what you have so far. 1 plug only to start with in minus 9 weather sounds like the stuff of nightmares!! Can't wait to watch more of your progress as you turn the place around 👍🏻
Definitely was a shock for my parents when they first moved in! They would fight over who the cat would sleep with at night just to get the extra warmth 😂 it's definitely easier now its summer (ish) and we have more electricity sockets!
Your video was so interesting and informative. Beth has a great voice and I hope she continues to narrate future videos. Thank you for bringing us up to date.
Thank you Beth for your update. I can’t wait to see more catch up videos. What a find the lavoire was! I know there is a lot of hard work involved, but the chateau is going to be stunning 🤩
Keep up with the great work. I love that there are no short cuts to the effort. It's hard work but the chateau will be solid and last for many many years. Well done team!!
I salute you all for taking care of this beautiful home in need of a lot of love and attention ❤️ It will be an exciting journey for you to be on and a great joy for us to witness! Thank you for taking us with you 🙏🏽. Warm greetings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
Your chateau is so lovely! I can’t believe how much you have already accomplished. What beautiful work. Your daughter does a wonderful job at narrating!
I love the background information. I truly enjoyed the low tone music. You guys are actually doing the work and it’s awesome to see you do the work, while listening to a cool music.
Really enjoyed seeing what you’ve done and where you want to go, looking forward to more ! The scope of work is tremendous but Adrian sounds very confident and competent . This is going to be a fun watch . Bon courage from Canada !
OMG!!! Since I'm watching from the beginning, this fills in so many gaps. Look how far you've come! Amazing. I wouldn't know where to start and the sheer amount to be done would be daunting. Hats off to you.
Amazing amount of work you’ve already accomplished. You were so lucky on getting those kitchen fixtures. It looks great installed. There is so much potential there, it will soon be beautiful and a show piece. I watched your tour that Michael showed and that’s how I found your site.
Absolutely gorgeous and your cracking on famously, little tip vlog filmed in landscape, super intro by your daughter, she has a lovely speaking voice. Keep the vlogs coming, can’t wait to see your progress xxx
Thank you very much for your kind comment! The video that are in portrait we took before deciding to do UA-cam and we didn't want to leave them out as they showed the progress! All new videos we take will be in landscape, but we want to make use of the progress videos too 😊
There is a setting to change from portrait to landscape, etc. Great deal on Kitchen cabinets. Busy life and cobblestone, new joists and insulation. Whew! Later!
Being done thoroughly and made to last. Well done guys it’s going to look beautiful, when it’s done you will reap the rewards and have great satisfaction in saying we did that. 🥰🇬🇧🥰
Oh what a beautiful home you are making it. The whole family is working hard. Please be careful with the OSB. As an Architect I don't like using it in old homes as it is not very breathable. Your plaster walls any insulation will never dry out if the home and outside air is humid!! These wonderful old homes need to breathe.
The OSB is only temporarily on the internal walls to hold the kitchen units. Eventually the walls will be plastered with lime so that they breathe as they should.
I must confess to falling in love with your exquisite chateau! Loving it as I immediately did, I would have been very concerned for it's fate (some "restorations "of beautiful old buildings make me want to cry).... but it's obvious that it's in very good hands indeed. And those racks over the kitchen fireplace?...those would have been for the spits used for roasting meat. I wonder if they also had a closed stove as well or were they just a bit old fashioned? Great first vlog(s), interesting footage and I am eagerly looking forward to following your progress.
It is gorgeous, we love it! I hope we meet your standards 😂 and that's interesting to know, lots of people have different ideas of what the features on the chateau were once used for, so it's interesting to see different opinions! Thank you for your support 😊
Your chateau is a beautiful grand old lady and she is lucky to have you taking care of her now. I’m sure if you put out a call for volunteers there would be plenty of people willing to help.
Thank you for your concern Susan, you may have noticed me limping, as my knee has been trouble for a couple of months now. But not from work, although that doesn't help, but from taking a fall on it , on a day off sightseeing....no more days off!!!
The cat made me laugh! Of course, you want to video the "master" of the house! The chandelier looks absolutely fabulous! The Nurse in me is yelling every time anyone does any renovations or clean up without masking up! Please please consider your future lung capacity, as there are hundreds of years' worth of dust, mites and goodness know what hiding in all that stuff. Great job with the kitchen. What an exciting find in the garden, even if I did actually know what the french term meant.
Just found y'all!!! Loving the videos. Atlanta Georgia here dreaming of the Chateau life while watching y'all live it. Maybe one day we will get our chance.
Y'all are such naturals behind the camera and we all love your DIY style! We must have watched 30 videos today everyone home sick with the yuckies!!! Looking forward too tomorrow!!!👍🏻👷🏻♀️👷🏼♂️

What a beautiful Chateau being lovingly restored.
My, oh my! What a huge undertaking. I can’t even imagine the amount of intestinal fortitude it takes to just get up each morning and start the process all over again. Hats off to you. You read our minds!
Excellent video and it puts much into context.
Most interesting the way catch ip informs viewers, most enjoyable.
It's going to be beautiful! Can't wait to see the progress... Waiting in Texas!

The removing and replacing of the flooring is always just amazing to me.
