Felicity, I believe I have been subscribed since Tim and you began this enormous commitment with determination, dedication and love? I have never left a comment until today. Even though I have been in the background silently cheering you on, marveled at what you both have physically accomplished yourselves, as well as, your restoration teams…this is by far my favorite episode! Eliane’s personal presence, recounting her family’s lives at Purnon, and her expressions as she went room-to-room have touched my heart. What a treasure to have found her, offering yet another layer of history told by someone with first-hand knowledge. I offer you my deepest thanks for sharing her with us.

Beautiful life story. I grew emotional watching and listening. My mom was born ‘42, during the war, in Germany. I remember her telling us that she lived on a farm for a time and that times were simpler- described perfectly by Elaina. Mom instilled in us children the love of fresh food, making do with what you had and being a survivor-just like Elaina ❤. Merci, Danke and thank you for sharing her story and the story of Purnon. I look forward to every Sunday’s time with you ❤. Rose

I so enjoy your documentation of the restoration of Purnon and all the hard work you 2 do together with the wonderful team you have but this Lady was something else.
Her stories gives real life to the actual life here, the happy and the sad, the glorious and the devastation and she did it with love in her ❤️ ❤❤❤ bless her and her memories.
My story are that I love on a typical south Swedish farm from the 1850 and 100 years later a woman moved in with her husband. When we bought it in 2007 we met her and got to know and love her for 10 years before she passed at 98 years of age, she as your lady talked with love about their home and life eventhough it was hard work.
Thanks for letting us share this and all the great work you do
Lots of love from Sweden 😊

Wow. What an emotional video this week. I cried like a baby several times. How wonderful Eliane's story will live on here on the internet forever. Tim and Felicity you are good people who were born for this project. I can't help but think there is a great lesson to when she said you can't dream of what you don't know, so you are happy with what you have. In this internet world when we are all obsessed with what other folks have we can sometimes forget to be happy with what we do have. I couldn't help but notice that the lions on the stairs look pretty much exactly the same as 60 plus years ago! One day when she returns for a visit, you'll have to take a photo of her in the exact same spot as the photo with her as a young girl at the base of the stairs.

    •  15 днів тому +1

What a wonderful message! Thank you... there was much wisdom in her happy memories of what must have been sometimes difficult times. Something for all of us. And, yes, the lions! We were secretly pleased to see they are not deteriorating that rapidly!!

I just realized that I have been here a long time! When I watched this one, I did remember the other video from 3 years ago of a woman who lived at Purnon, but just now looked back and saw it was the same woman! I loved that older video too and never forgot it. Thank you for this newer video that expands on her story.

Now, children of 8 years old are ‘disadvantaged’ if they do not have a mobile phone. It is a world separated by 50 years but by a universe.
She is only 3 1/2 years older than me, but in Australia we felt well-off, we had cars, ponies, plenty of food, a bedroom for each child, annual seaside holidays. We were not rich but in comparison we really were rich!

I have come to have such respect for your work in restoring this grand piece of French history. That would be enough, but you honor the fact that Purnon is really all about the people, starting with the most humble and essential souls who gave it life. Thank you for sharing with the rest of the world. (This from Texas).
