    I thought this was very cleverly written, and also love Riley's panicky crush/hero worship of Val. The presentation of Anxiety as not a villain, but an inadvertent opponent is brilliant, and I love the expansion of the worldbuilding to include the ever-evolving "Sense of Self."
    I do think the movie may suggest subtly that Riley is slightly fluid when it comes to her sexuality and gender -- she is the only person in the entire "Inside-Out-verse" whose control panel is both male and female. For everyone else we've met, their control panels are controlled by emotions of the same sex. So it's an interesting thought.
    Last but not least, I love seeing the little sleeping nooks of the emotions! Anger has a fire blanket and a cinderblock (and a swear jar), Fear sleeps with a teddy bear, Sadness has a tissue box and a stuffed animal, and Joy has the same glowy stars as Riley's ceiling (and a statue of Bing Bong)! So cute.

  • @Saphthings
    @Saphthings День тому +25

    I love that in the first movie, Joy says, "Sadness, Riley NEEDS you", and here Sadness says, "Joy, Riley WANTS you". We need sadness, but we want joy.

      I get why they did it like they did: Riley had to suffer in a way that would cause her to have a panic attack, but not in a way that would cause the audience to lose sympathy. If she had drawn a legit penalty for charging or something, that would have been more realistic but would also make her less sympathetic

    Anxiety being upset and worried at the sight of her new sense of self does a LOT to help show that she's not a villain, she genuinely just wants to help and doesn't want to hurt riley but she only letting herself take control and Anxiety alone doesn't end well.

    • @OdogRuby77
      @OdogRuby77 День тому +1

      I just loathe when people always try to find the worst traits in other characters and that's all they dwell on. When sometimes, it's true, some characters are meant to be made into "irredeemable monsters." But those who aren't villains always have the chance to redeem themselves and bring out their BEST traits in trade of their worst ones. When also that's clearly what Anxiety does, she realizes that what she's been doing was harming Riley, but she managed to shift her focus on the stuff that she CAN control instead of ones she CAN'T.

    • @nugget3687
      @nugget3687 День тому +3

I'm 32 now and I bet a lot of people might peg me as a bisexual or lesbian but i'm very straight. I'm sick of people forgetting that's an option. And in my opinion, Riley is very straight. I was the tomboy who wore boy clothes and rejected all femininity.

    From what I read in a comment on a different reaction, in San Francisco high school selection is based on a lottery where students are assigned high schools at random. The system is meant to prevent have and have-not schools. So it's entirely possible to be assigned a different school than your next door neighbour.

    Now I'm not versed on the hockey rules at all so i have no idea how it works but Grace wasn't bumping into Riley. Riley wasn't paying attention and full body bumped her to move her away from the goal to score. That could definitely be within the rules but I think that's why Anxiety says "I didn't see her". I think it has more to do with Riley seeing a person in her way and not specifically her friend.
