I hope Japan chooses the right side. i grew up in Japan as a teenager. Privately they are not really fond of America / Western culture. They think American music is cringe, English language is awkward. We were forced to take English class in public schools, we all hated it. But they feel they have to adapt to the American culture out of fear and pressure. I remember one funny kid in class said, we have no choice but to learn English - if we didn't, you know they have those airplanes fly by and we'd all be screwed. Thene veryone including the teacher laughted. I'm sure you know what he was referring to . But privately they think their own Japanese culture is more civilized and higher level than the American. With the rise of China, this validate their view that our Asian brotherrs are just as good if not better than crude Americans.

I found that there is great respect for the USA in Japan. You are going to have more headache for an ICE by runing it onece or 2 times a year than runing it 24/7. Electric stuff are simple, flip the switch, it either works or it doesnt. But usually, it works due to its simplecity. And if you are using Ev, then you know it will work because you just drove the thing few hours ago.

Instead of trying to control every country on the earth, US should be about spending money to upgrade or building new processing plants to use it own oil. But the US would rather force other countries to sell them oil at a cheap price. The US has plenty oil, but no infrastructure to process it. Did I see this a while back and is it true?

It's why don't they buy from Nissan? For example, the Leaf has had V2G since 2014. It was in the upgraded spec Mk1 Leaf and it certainly is in the Mk2. The Chademo plug/socket system was designed to do reverse charging/powering. So what's going on at Nissan. This is almost the bigger story.

I think they are buying it for the batteries which are supplied by CATL to BYD. CATL was a company started by China after buying TDK batteries of Japan. So why did TDK sell it in the first place? Lack of foresight or lack of confidence in the EV market. Remember Toyota alone employs half a million workers in its factories in Japan tied to combustion engines. Hence, they were very reluctant to jump into EV space as they didn't want to lay off all those people. Even now Toyota is still experimenting with combustion engines using hydrogen as fuel. China on the other hand had nothing to lose and no industry to safeguard. So, they jumped on the EV bandwagon full force.

For hybrid models, Chinese brabds will have Xpeng Motors Kunpeng EREV System, with 430km autonomy only on electricity and a motor to recharge the battery to extend at least 1000 more kilometers (1400 km total autonomy at least)... Jaésmede brands will payBYD for their old system, but will not use the bery good E4 system of the Yangwang models (U8 Premium, or U9 flr example), but a cheaper solution even worse than the E3 probably... Xpeng Motors is creating the future, and Volkswagen Group choosed the old but excellent chassis of the G9. They choosed this when the new SEPA2.0 (Smart Electrical Platform Architecture) Platform was launched. They prefer bad and cheap thongs, which are ancient... This is the bad strategy of Audi, which made them loose their 4 wheels 0000 gaining 0, making them usobg AUDI brand rather....

The Achilles Heel is not range and charging infrastructure like folks claim. It’s taking care of one battery. 60-40, 60-40, sometimes 80-20. Letting gov employees or rentals is a problem. I suppose algorithms could fake users, but don’t care for the battery you’ll need a new one in a couple of years and that is ok under warranty, until it’s not.
