Thanks mate 😊 Been lucky for a couple of weeks and got some really nice weather. Cold but sunny which isn't too bad for running.

i'm a suuuuuper beginner but def agree with you on winter running before preferable to summer running! i'd rather have cold legs than be pouring sweat lol. i live in atlanta in the u.s. so i'm absolutely dreading the 90+ degree F summer heat/humidity!

I prefer not running in the heat either because my heart rate gets too high and I just can't run for long. As much as I love summer, I prefer cooler temperatures for running. We don't get hot weather here in the UK as much but we did get a bit of a heatwave last year, which were similar temperatures to where you are. The only times I could go for a run were early mornings while it was still cool. Good luck with running and well done for starting. You'll really learn to love it 😊

I just ran the Houston Marathon as my first marathon. I ran several half marathons before. It was freezing cold during the marathon even with the sun out. I wasn’t dress for it as I thought I would warm up. Yet, I see other runners wearing less and others still sweating. I felt like I ran the marathon in a freezer. 😂 I enjoy your videos as it show others that running can be fun and still a mental and physical challenge. Definitely running a marathon is not running the half twice. It’s a totally different experience. You’re doing great on your training. Looking forward to hear your experience after crossing the finish line.

Well done and congratulations on running your first ever Marathon. That's a huge achievement! Really well done! I'm quite worried about the Marathon distance, especially now that you've said it's not the Half Marathon twice. Doesn't sound like you had much fun running in the freezing cold. I see some people running in shorts in freezing temperatures and I question myself "What's wrong with me? Why do I feel so cold?". I would've thought you'd warm up during your run at least a bit? I'm doing my best to keep training and stay consistent. Thank you for watching and the lovely comment. It really means a lot feeling like I'm getting support from others and that I'm not alone when I struggle sometimes, so thank you! Are you training for anything else now or chill out for a bit?

Good luck with your first marathon! I'd recommend something better than Jelly Babis. Like running gels :) If you aren't used to them, you might want to test a few to find a flavour that you like (and see how your stomach reacts) :)

Thank you 😊 I alternate jelly babies and gels on long runs. I'm having the High5 gels, but don't want to just take gels for all my long runs so I'm having jelly babies to mix it up a bit. I'm definitely still very new to this whole fueling-for-a-Marathon thing, as well as fueling when I'm not running. I still have a lot to learn and I really appreciate your advice! Are you training for anything at the moment?

      @@YuennyLam I prefer Swiss-made Sponser bcaa/plus. They have them in tubes, and I use 1 tube for 10k :)
I'm actually running a marathon next week (unofficial, just the distance), then another marathon in April (Bergen City Marathon), but I'm training for the Ironman in October :) It will be a fun year.

That's amazing to be doing the Ironman 👏 Wow...what a goal! I hope training is going well for you. I hope it'll be a great and fun year for both of us 💪 Thanks for the chat!

I am currently training for my first London Marathon in April. There are pros and cons to training in different seasons depending on where you live. For me, I prefer summer training by getting up super early before sunrise and relatively cool morning temps. Fall or winter gets challenging due to heavy rain or snow (although little drizzles don't bother me at all). Good luck with your training and race!

That's amazing you're running the London Marathon!! I really wanted London to be my first Marathon but I didn't get a place. I'm way too slow, so just have to rely on luck to get a place. I do love the early morning pre-work runs where it's nice and light and temperatures are still cool enough. Any particular finish time in mind? Good luck with your training and race too! 😊

I only started long distance running around Covid lockdown and had never been athletic prior. Given my age and current fitness level, I would be so thrilled to finish around 4 hours. My intention is to finish healthy and happy, without setting unrealistic PB goals. Running helps me with depression and anxiety. Nobody should do it for "fun", but anybody can have fun with it.

4 hours would be great. I'd be happy to finish before the cut-off which is usually around 6 hours or so. I'm not athletic either and just a really slow runner, but you're right, it helps mentally and anybody can have fun doing it 😊 That's one reason I re-started running and now I try to keep pushing myself to be better. Have achievable goals to take my mind off unwanted thoughts. Keep it up good luck!

It’s a privilege to be able to run regardless of speed. You are definitely in the right mindset. Keep up the good work and focus on progress. Too fast too soon is a true recipe for nagging injuries.

@@CatherineSui-Miller I definitely see running as a privilege. The freedom it gives you is amazing, to be able to just head out the door and run. Over time my pace is slowly improving, but my main focus isn't on speed. At the moment with the Marathon coming up, actually completing the race and injury-free is priority.
