Would be grim to see lots of black body bags or pods and clones burying the dead concluding a battle if they had the chance to. Also makeshift morgues with just lines and rows of dead troopers awaiting burial, with the Jedi/clone commander/friends of the deceased issuing last rites or commemorating their burial with a poignant, few parting words.

Fun fact. The phase 1 armor is canonically stronger than phase 2. Phase 2 was made with comfort in mind, thusly it’s less protective.
This is why Captain Rex fused the 2 sets together. Taking the most protective parts of the Phase 1 and any part of the phase 2 that needed to remain comfortable.

The armor is meant to hold a certain amount of energy, just like in real life, depends on the intencity of the shot, angle, distance, probably the droid was so far that when the blast thit him the energy was far lesser than normal, meaning he was proected

  • @sydvigue824

I think that if it is a ricochet and not an animation glitch or a shot from one of the B2s on the wall, it's likely caused from the extreme angle that the droids are firing at combined with the height of the wall causing the blaster bolt to lose more of its energy than if the droid was firing level at the clone at the same horizontal distance. As for the clone being alive, almost certainly he's living. Plastoid can more often than not protect against direct impacts and leave the user wounded but alive, so a ricochet would likely leave the clone with minimal injuries as the bolt didn't even get to impart it's full energy into the armor

When The Empire Strikes Back came out in 1980, it was heralded by an official movie magazine/poster book. It described stormtrooper armor as being blaster- resistant ... that it could deflect grazing shots, but not direct hits. I know, this is clonetrooper armor...perhaps it was a bit stronger.... didn't seem to do that poor clone much good though.

A possible explanation is that clone/stormtrooper armour is designed to absorb civilian grade blaster bolts, which may explain why the blast looks thinner in the deflected half.

  • @Celtic66

It’s the same with stormtrooper armour, originally it was made to suppress a blaster shot and spread the impact out across the chest piece (for example) and it would only incapacitate them for a period of time instead of killing them

I believe the armor wasn't meant to completely block blaster shots, but rather preserve vital organs for later medical help, it makes sense that he'd be down but not completely out. Blaster wounds are self cauterizing and don't bleed, and one benefit of a clone army is organ transplants are much easier.

Here’s the thing people don’t understand about Star Wars… there is balance. People seem to think that clones and droids are both just non-skilled soldiers. And that armor is super weak. Except the clones were designed solely for combat, to be a grand army of very elite soldiers. But the droids were designed to also be very elite soldiers, and quite literally aimbot. The 2 simply cancel eachother out so they don’t seem very powerful when fighting eachother. Same goes for blasters and armor. With the creation of super strong and powerful armor, people would have had to design even more powerful weapons to get through that armor. So the armor is not just weak, but the weaponry is designed to be powerful enough to get through the armor. Everything is Star Wars seems to be very elite and powerful, but the opposing thing is also designed to be strong back. In turn creating balance. People don’t seem to understand this.

What's funny is blaster have the same temperature danger as lightsabers however it is nowhere near as concentrated or constant. It is not usually the plasma itself that kills armored ppl but the hotter than lava searing contact that transforms the armor into more molten liquid.

The armor can reflect back blast but it can't repel damage, it's like getting shot Point Blank with a gun while wearing a bulletproof vest you'll have internal bleeding and a bruise on the outside depending on how strong the bullet was the same applies for blasts 💥

  • @someduckie5292
    @someduckie5292 Рік тому

The phase 1 armor seen here was never ment to reflect shots. It was just reeealy thick so if hit, the shot would have to burn though a lot of material to kill the clone. This is why the clones either died immediately or kept fighting, tho hurt form the raw impact. This let the clones have an advantage in the fight bc they had a chance to "ignore" being shot but it ment they had to replace troops more often as well.
Phase 2 armor was designed to disperse the energy across the whole body leading to a much higher survival rate. However this also ment any shot would effectively be hitting the head as well meaning the clone would nearly always be knocked out if hit. The stormtroopers armor works this way as well.

The phase one armor was a dense and heavy plastic durasteel alloy. It was meant to mimic that of jango fetts beskar armor. The blaster bolts have alot of energy so if the bolt doesnt kill you the impact might. From that distance though blaster bolts should not do much damage becuase of physics and alot of complicated bullshit.

I look at their armor like a tanks, a shell will ricochet off a slanted surface and hit glancing blows. If you shot a blaster bolt and it hit the armor design just right it would ricochet. Especially from that height and angle, if something is going straight into a diagonal surface and can’t penetrate it will throw it outwards like a bad hit in baseball or a tank shell as I previously mentioned.

  • @caelodevorago608

Clone armor was made to absorb/reflect blaster bolts. The standard droid blaster, the E-5 however, is a pretty heavy blaster shot. (It also overheats and is generally unsafe for non-droid/armored use)
That's why you see clones take multiple shots before going down pretty often. If they do go down, a lot of times they may be rendered unconscious but not dead
Stormtrooper armor was made to disperse the bolts and distribute the force across the entire armor set. That's why they seem to go down in one hit. The armor is actually incredibly strong. It just disperses the force ALL over. Which renders the wearer unconscious with a heavy enough blast or repeated shots. That's the explanation why sometimes you can see stormtroopers shifting around (Totally not because the extras playing them just happened to move)
That does create a wonderful thing... The Rebellion doesn't really have prisons... So uh... Zealous stormtroopers that rarely defect and would happily try to break from custody...
*Rebels probably don't take prisoners often*

The armor (probably) did it's job of protecting the clone from being fried by the blaster bolt, but the kinetic energy of the bolt knocked his ass to the ground. Kinda the same reason why we don't build bullet-resistant vests so thin. Yes, we CAN make a thin vest that'll keep the bullet from penetrating your skin, but that bullet would still injure you with a nasty bruise at best and still probably break something important at worst.

It's also cannon that stormtrooper armor was designed to dissipate the energy from blaster bolts. However this came at the cost at poor physical resistance. The energy from blaster bolts on Stormtrooper armor specifically would knock them unconscious.
Same with Clone armor. however the pauldron and Kama (the command skirt that commanders and ARC troopers wear) Is a 2nd layer of protection against energy weapons usually made out of leather.
