Thanks for your entertaining and informative video. I appreciate the ASE patch! My 3 inch number 2 lead 1 & 7/8 oz loads have less than impressive patterns. My turkey hunting buddies that use factory TSS turkey loads just blanket the target with ridiculously tight saturated patterns of #7 & #9. For TSS I’m considering smaller shot; because with its density smaller shot should be effective and reach vitals or pass through. Looking forward to more content.

I hunt waterfowl mostly Canadians. I reload 3 inch 1 5/8 ounce bismuth. I’m was given a container of heavy shot . Can I reload the heavy shot with the same recipe I use for the bismuth? Very interested in the 3 inch 2 ounce video you mentioned. Hope to see it soon. This video was well done .
Any time I develop a load for distance shooting, I'm more interested in penetration at distance than group size. Put a piece of plywood up at 100 yards and see which loads bounce right off, and which loads stick. You'll be surprised.
That’s the great thing about tungsten, being so dense, it really carries the energy through the target. But with that being said, I don’t think I’d take a shot at over 60 yards with any shotgun, regardless of what it’s loaded with.
I do testing at 100 yards to make discrepancies stand out and for comparison. It's not about hunting at that distance. Think of it as a way of measuring downrange or impact velocity. Keep up the good videos, I love'em@@Everythingblackpowder
Greate and FUN video. If you want tighter patterns for long-range(really long) stick with that 1 1/2oz, and inside that 12 wad(2 each slits 3/4 length) a steel 20 gauge like cds20 or similar with gas seal cut off, 2 slits, and place opposite of the slits in 12 wad. You can skip mylar in this. Use very open choke(less disturbance of shot, but experiment) play with 2-3 slits in either wad. Now...for LASER beam...a 28 gauge wad (for lead or steel, dosent matter) inside that 20 again...But now it don't hold 1 1/2 oz, a bit less. I have always a couple of those for still standing targets "beyond even TSS range" Everyone can read this comment so I don't write distance...but try))) Just remember to hold over. and you need more speed than 1200, but that's obtainable for a lighter load. It's the PRECISION that limits range, after all its not a rifle barrel....Regards from Norway:-)

Have you started to consider building a shot tower with a foundry on top yet? I saw a focused mirror display in New Mexico that could melt bricks in about three minutes. Melt it ,spew it out a nozzle and catch it in a bucket of water or quenching medium of some sort. At these prices , one’s mind begins to wander. Geesh ! Just joking around , I have myself half convinced to haul a rivet forge and a crucible up a tree to try it.

I loaded 20rounds of 6mm tungsten into my 10ga. Emptied out some steel hulls, added mylar wrap, shot, buffering and recrimped. Works just fine in youtes out to 75yds.
I'm not a huge fan of that wad. The lack of a cushion makes felt recoil much more intense at least in my guns. I would suggest you try the mg42 from ballistic products.

@@livingintheprairie1517 I feel the same way. I don’t shoot them often, in fact I really only went on this crusade because people are so strange about the load data. I usually hunt with a flintlock, TSS really isn’t my style.
One could make the argument that you could kill almost anything with a 1022 and a cheesy scope, but when you’re in thick brush or heavily wooded country a shotgun is much better suited for the task than a scoped rifle, in my opinion. I’ve only ever killed one coyote with a .22lr and he still managed to run some 200 yards before he went down.

Once you have the equipment how does the price compare to say factory apex. loads. Here in alberta Canada it’s hard to get any tss. The largest tss load I could find was #7 so i just bought the only #7 tss load I could find (federal premium turkey) anywhere and it was $16.80 a shot $83.99 for 5 shots.🫣. I just had to see what all the hype was about.
Sorry, I never made a video on the 3 inch load. The recoil was more than I like to shoot and half the shot actually blew the action back some so I didn’t pursue further.

it's about $50 a pound and I get between 8 and 16 shots a pound depending on payload weight per shot. It's ridiculously expensive.

The person you bought the shot from “Hal Abbot” will give you load data if you email him.
What is the reason for hunting coyotes? Do you have livestock they are killing?
