You mentioned in one of your comments that some of your ideas/stitches come from your grannies and aunties - may I ask where the edelweiss stitch comes from.       It could do, but I’d suggest you to knit a swatch first, because every yarn behaves differently 😉

    So my dear wooly;
    If i want to make a checkerboard pattern for scarf or other patterns. To make 20 stitches do I still ad d on 4 or 8 ?

      It depends on your gauge. I wouldn’t add less than 1 inch 😉

      As with any lace stitch, you would replace the edge stitches that will be shaped with plain knit

      Hi! Why don’t you try the Seed stitch? Knit a swatch and see if you like the both of them together. Take into account that the border should be made for each side of the blanket 😉

    Love the pattern! Now, is there a way to "reverse" the pattern so that the second set of four rows makes the horizontal lines go in the opposite direction? In other words, the pattern would be like a vertical chevron.
