Jimmy is one of the most melodic guitarists I’ve ever heard . The bootlegs of Wings in ‘75,’76 are incredible . Just listening to Jimmy’s solos are so distinctive and marvelous. He is so missed but will never be forgotten among those of us who love great playing.
If anybody is interested in learning more about Jimmy’s life and career, I wrote his biography, Little Wing: The Jimmy McCulloch Story. I spent 12 years on it and it was an absolute labor of love. There are over 600 visuals and tells Jimmy’s true story and dispels all the myths and false stories that have surrounded him for years.
I saw a lot about the book when researching for Jimmy and it was all positive 🥰 It's so important to keep Jimmy's and other artists memory alive long after we are gone for the next generation and beyond 🙏❤
Deeply human, I think that’s something the media forgets when it comes to a musician passing very young. He left a great legacy, and I don’t know why but to me he looks a little like David Cassidy. Bless him. Thank you my friend!🤗
I have a few memories to share on this topic; 'Bent Frame' and the 'Jimmy McCulloch Band' are mentioned in the video; Jimmy was involved with a Scotts rock singer named Robbie doing the Bent Frame thing; this was post Thunderclap, sometime in '71; I got a call to audition for the coming up 'McCulloch Band which also included Robbie and was being managed by brother Jack McCulloch, as well as some wealthy folks including a French Baron named Francouis, who live on Hide Park Corner and had a large wooden rocking horse in his front lounge overlooking Hyde Park; there was a lot of flamboyance and Cocaine flying around; I got the gig and we started rehearsing at Bob Kerr's rehearsal studio in Putney; I was supposed to be on a retainer but I rarely saw any money; I did receive a lot of drugs though; each Friday Jack and the entourage would show up with brown envelopes containing drugs for the band memebers' there was a lot of hyperbole about how successful the band was going to be; later we moved to The Rolling Stones warehouse/rehearsal place in Bermondsey; we shared it with The Faces who had the night shift and us during the day; there were rumours going around about Jimmy possibly joining the Stones; then he went off to tour with John Mayall for some months; when he returned we went into Olympic Studio in Barnes to start recording an album; 4 tracks got recorded as I remember; we did some gigging around London and a few dates in Scotland; It was all limousines and big-time talk, drugs and alcohol but no wages for me; eventually I got tired of it and quit; I liked Jimmy a lot; he was a bit aloof and wild but that was understandable; I loved playing music with him though, he was so raunchy, and so confident; it was great to be playing behing someone that good; I bumped into him again in Hyde Park in 1974/75 on a free concert day; we had a chat, it was nice to see him; I think he was with Wings by then, they might even have been on the bill that day;
Wow Barry that's amazing! 🤩 To be in the midst of all that rock n roll lifestyle and with Jimmy too 🥰 What iconic memories to have, you are very lucky 💯❤ Thank you so very much for sharing 🤗💕
Yeah, you didn’t get paid, but you’d have spent the money ages ago; the memories live on. And if you’d stuck with it, who knows - you could very easily have followed him to an early grave.
@@intelligenthorsemanshipwit1330 I couldn't agree more with that; it was crazy; when we started rehearsing at the Stones warehouse in Bermondsey, all their European gear was stored in rooms there; One room had guitar cases literally up to the ceiling, hundreds of them; someone said we could help ourselves to them; I remember a scene in which we are frantically opening cases, and Robbie the singer saying 'fucking hell man, that's a Gretch White Falcon, I'm fucking having that'; I took a Mustang bass, I was shy to appear greedy; I don't remember Jimmy being around in that scene; he was pretty mature for his age, pretty calm, pretty collected; he had plenty of money at the time; drove a Daimler which was usually considered more as an older guys car;
I met Jimmy a bunch of times in NYC in 1976. When he was straight, he was very friendly. I have a few pics that are really something. He also played a bit of Blackbird on my “out of tune” guitar.
When I was about 11 I had enough money for one 45 so I went to the local record store and they had a bin of hundreds of 45's all thrown in, no real order to them and not knowing one band from another I just reached in and pulled one out to buy. It turned out to be "Something in the air" and it's been one of my favourite songs ever since,
He also played with small faces mk2 with steve marriott another super talented musician vocalist guitarist who also had serious drug and drink problems as did Jimmy cant imagine what that tour was like steve died at 44 in a house fire caused by falling asleep with a lit cigarette whilst under the influence off drink and drugs rock and roll,
The drink will get you in the end so they say and it seems so. Just been watching the Netflix programme on Amy Winehouse very sad. I remember Wings and Jimmy back in the day but still I'm a bit young for him in his hey day. Not offten I can say that. Thank you again for this ❤❤❤
@@TheHumbuckerboyit isn’t chilling at all considering Jimmy is alive and well in the photo. That pic was taken in 1976, a fact that I confirmed with his family.
That “biography” you speak of contains fabricated stories about Jimmy and that photo you’re talking about, Jimmy is very much alive in the pic. The “author” who has a terrible reputation within the Beatles author and fan community, put the caption in there for shock value and intentionally used a grainy photo.
There must have been something seriously wrong with Jimmy. Who forms a new band of joins a new band every year. I believe it was drugs. I saw a photo of Jimmy dead leaning up against something with his eyes open.
It's terribly sad, especially when taken so young 😓 I know he was teased by musician friends for being in Wings as it was classed as an oldies band. All I know for sure is living a life of fame and fortune isn't all it's cracked up to be 😥💔

@@HarmonyHeartsLifestyle-ul5yvdefinitely…real music’s legacy👏🏼
Where can I get it? Seems very expensive on Amazon.
It's a great book , I thoroughly recommend it .
Thanks for keeping Jimmy in our memories.
Thank you ❤️
His guitar work on Thunderclap's album just soars!
Always loved his wah guitar in Beware My Love. It had a great sound. Sat in the mix just right. Perfect amount of overdrive too.
Jimmy was an amazing guitarist. He left us way too early.
All time fave guitarist...Jimmy is a Legend!!!
RIP Jimmy.
A wonderful guitarist.
Really loved his solos. He had his own style - which I treasure in guitarists. No mistaking who was playing when you heard one of his solos.

Yes very sad when they pass as young as Jimmy 😥💔 Thank you as always Deidre 🤗❤
@@HarmonyHeartsLifestyle-ul5yv you’re very welcome my friend🤗
You don’t know why you think he looks like David Cassidy? It’s because he looks like David Cassidy.
Great player and singer as well
So very well done on this great salute to a great guitarist.
Such a shockingly short but very full life, RIP Jimmy.
Thank you so very much Derek 🥰
His solo on MY LOVE always hits home....
Guitar solo by Henry McGullough
One of his best solos is on Wild Country off the Thunderclap Newman lp. Really great.

Wow how cool! Thank you for sharing 🥰👍
I wonder if Pete Townsend slept with Jimmy, being Pete is bisexual.
OMG the guitarist who died on stage from electrocution 😢very sad indeed 🙏
Weird how he looked like Paul McCartney
Unbelievable only 26😢
Dear heavens, he was born 1 day before me in Scotland as I was....Thought he was an amazing guitarist...sad.
Another great one❤. RIP Jimmy ❤
Evil eyes you rock! Thank you! 😃👍🎉💕
Jimmy in Rockshow is awesome.

He also played on Roger Daltry's "One of the boys" album. Which was basically the Who without Townsend.
Yes, I have that LP.
JIMMY McCULLOCH was a very talented musician unfortunately he had his demons and died far too young
Yes it's very sad and such a loss 😢

Thanks Jayne! 🥰Such a waste of talent and life with so many of these artists, it's heartbreaking 💔 Thanks for watching and have a lovely weekend 🌞🌻
@@HarmonyHeartsLifestyle-ul5yv And you
Jimmy started out with Thunderclap Newman.

Hola quiero preguntarte si tu libro se consigue en México gracias.
Reminds me of David Cassidy.
Yes he does!
Born in the same town as Talking Heads' David Byrne.
another member of the 27 club
I thought he was 26 when he died.
He was 26.
If u haven't already do one on Cliff Burton.
Sad
All pauls band members were almost pennyless, they were payed session player scale.....sure don't seem right with paul making hundreds of million$
Glad you said it. I'm betting he wasn't too torn up about McCulloch's passing either.

Wasn't he the guy in Braveheart was said "the English are too many!"?
Paul lost his guitar player and then next year lost Lennon
I wonder if Jimmy knew the secret?
Steve Marriott is to blame
I think his doctor is to blame for prescribing Jimmy narcotics!
He was so good ❤
